2.  Myths and Legends can be hugely influential to the basis
of the plot and the antagonist character development.
Horror films are known to build on these already preexisting threats to heighten the anticipation and impact of
the character’s actions, ensuring at least some high level
of success even before the film’s released based just on
the storyline. Trends around the time the film is made can
also become influential, providing more of an interest to
the public.
 Horror films are rarely ever based on true stories, relying
on these myths and legends to inspire the notions the film
take. However, these myths are so commercially popular
that manipulating these into film makes it easy to have
the same effect.

5.  Another convention that is utilised in the Horror film
industry that is almost always effective is when
something you expect to be scary is taken out of context.
For example when children’s music is played in a field,
something you wouldn’t assume to link together and thus
creating subtle suspicion. Sound is an obvious effective
tool for this convention, however objects can be used in
just the same way; blood on a child’s toy or a rucksack in
the underground- their connotations provide the
suspense needed for it to be a scary motif.
