cultural anthropology has given me a better understanding of how
societies operate. I am continually interested in
culture, community, ecological issues and larger social
dynamics, which construct and maintain power. My educational
experience has provided me with a more nuanced worldview and
equipped me with an appreciation of both cultural processes and
the importance of subaltern histories and narratives.
The discipline of anthropology has taught me to make the

foreign into something commonplace and the abnormal into
something understandable. This perspective, which deconstructs
common notions of what is normal and has aided in my
understanding of American culture as well as an appreciation of
political, economic and social issues impacting people globally.
Work
Through my education, I am interested in research, community
stewardship, outreach and hope to work in the museum field as a Samples
career.
