1. Lisa Fox Jackson Iowa:
Loves Her Kids
Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa is a
transplanted Texan. She came to
Colorado to attend school at
Naropa University in Boulder and
has been in the Rocky Mountain
State ever since. After graduating
with degrees in Visual Arts and
Education she moved to Estes Park,
a small tourist town that is the
gateway to Rocky Mountain
National Park.
Not long after arriving in Estes Park, she got a job as a teacher at Estes Park
Elementary School, where she teaches the third grade. "I love my kids," she says.
"Most of them are eight and nine years old. That's such a great age. You can see
their personalities forming, but there is still a lot of shaping to do." She says
these ages are known as the age of Industry versus Inferiority.

We Got Through It
Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa has
lived in Estes Park, Colorado,
since not long after graduating
from Naropa University in
nearby Boulder in 2006. She
says that she loves it in Estes
and will probably spend the rest
of her life there. She teaches
third grade at Estes Park
Elementary School and painting
at the Estes Park Center for the
Arts.
She says that it's a great place to
be raising her daughter. Four
year old Anissa Fox Jackson
was born in Estes Park in 2011.
It was especially comforting for her in
September of 2013, when Estes Park and
the surrounding region was hit by heavy
rains and devastating floods. The town that
is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National
Park found itself cut off from the most
direct route to Denver.

Why She Paints
Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa is a third
grade elementary school teacher who
lives and works in Estes Park,
Colorado. She has lived there since
completing her education at Naropa
University in Boulder.
She is originally from San Antonio,
Texas, where she was born and raised,
and where she lived until she enrolled
in Naropa after graduating from high
school. She had never been to Colorado
before but was drawn by what she
assumed, correctly, would be many
opportunities to ski.

Taiko Drumming
Lisa Fox Jackson of Iowa attended Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, and
received degrees in Visual Arts and Education. She made a discovery there on
New Year's Day 2007 that ended up having a lasting impact on her life.
She and her then-boyfriend
took a stroll through the city's
Pearl Street Mall, a five block
commercial area that is closed
to traffic, and in addition to
many unique businesses draws
all manner of street
performers. On this day, the
couple happened across a
traditional Japanese New
Year's Day celebration.
"And we heard this energetic,
rhythmic drumming," Lisa Fox
Jackson of Iowa recalls.
