1. Quest Based PD
Lee Sheldon is a professional game writer and designer, and an
Associate Professor in the Games and Simulation Arts and
Sciences program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Lee wrote the bestselling book The Multiplayer Classroom:
Designing Coursework as a Game (2011); his book
Character Development and Storytelling for Games
(Second Edition, 2013) is the standard text in the field.
Keynote Speaker: Lee Sheldon
Wednesday, July 30th
@ 10:30 AM MST
Topic: The Persuasion Games
Lee will introduce designing classes as games that persuade students to want to learn—not by
using commercial products or educational games—but by applying game design principles and
narrative techniques to standard curriculums and learning outcomes. He will then help you with
the hard part: honing your sales pitch to parents, school boards and state standards committees.
