SHEEP BREEDING
Spending most of their life in
mountain pastures, there are
more than 6 million sheep being
bred in Kyrgyzstan
SHEARING

At the end of spring, woolen
fleece of the sheep is cut. 12
million tons of wool are pro-
duced every year in Kyrgyzstan,
with 5 to 10% used for felting.
SORTING

The raw wool is sorted
and graded depending
on its quality, color and
length of fibers

The raw wool is thoroughly
washed to remove all dust and
impurities attached to it
CARDING

Passing through a specific ma-
chine carder, the wool fibers are
disentangled, cleaned and inter-
mixed to produce a continuous
web that will be used in further
processing

Dyes and pigments are applied
to the wool to give it its final
color
