As part of the Sydenham Arts
Festival, I exhibited work at ‘On the
Hoof’ bistro on thehigh street so it
seemed a good opportunity to do
some sketches of the interior.
12. September
Drawing the preparations for a pop-up saffron farm ona
demolition site in the centreof Croydon. Theplan was to
plant over 20,000crocussativus corms and harvest the
crop before Christmas.
14. October

now the home of the
Easy Hotel.

Back to capture the saffron being carefully harvested at
Croydon Saffron Central. Theharvesters used tweezers to
collect the orange strands from the centreof each of the
flowers, putting theminto small jars, ready to betaken
offsite to be dried.
17. November
Anothertrip out with the London UrbanSketchers,
this time at a verybusy Borough Market.
Always a great venue for drawing, I had a go at
sketchingthe complicated roof structureand also
the little oval-shaped building, usedas the setting for
Bridget Jones’ flat inthe film “Bridget Jones’ Diary”.
