2. A SOLAR SYSTEM is a group of
objects in space that travel around
a star

3. The SUN is the star in the center of
our solar system

4. A PLANET is a large object that
revolves around a star in a clear
orbit.

5. EARTH is the planet in which we live

6. Our solar system has eight planets:
MERCURY, VENUS, EARTH, MARS,
JUPITER, SATURN, URANUS and
NEPTUNE.

7. Scientists put these planets into two
groups. The INNER PLANETS are
closer to the sun
MERCURY
VENUS EARTH
MARS

8. The OUTER PLANETS are farther from
the sun
JUPITER
SATURN
URANUS
NEPTUNE

9. These two groups of planets are
separated by an ASTEROID BELT,
between Mars and Jupiter

10. ASTEROIDS are small rocky objects,
made of rock and metal.

11. A DWARF PLANET revolves around a
star, but its path is not clear. PLUTO
is a dwarf planet.

frozen gas.
