3. In Russia in 2008 there were 62 federal and interregional youth and children
organizations which were officially registered.
Besides such organizations there are different groups and subgroups with
special interests like in many countries.

5. When young Russians are bored being alone they choose a
group with the same interests as all teenagers do. They
want:
to express themselves – 18%
to show off – 11%
to express their identity – 15%
to protest against the parents – 11%
to reject everything – 13%
to have their own values and beliefs – 10%
to differ from social norms – 19%
to rebel against the society (old generation) – 1%
to try out all sort of options – 2%
6. An ideal subculture... It must be a registered grouping with true
values and beliefs, a grouping without violence, drugs, alcohol.
Must it be a society of domestic people? Or a society of lovers of
silence? It's clearly that's impossible.
Youth subcultures in modern Russia include mainly schoolboys
of senior classes. Psychologists consider, that in this way teens
form their self- assessment. It is easier for them to assert
themselves in groupings.
The youth believes that the fact is not in their low self -esteem :
new trends in the Russian society cause changes of in the life of
young people. They have to conform or to protest against
society’s standards.
