3. 1. What is faith ?
stand firm and steady, to trust, to be certain or sure about something,
Hebrew 11:1
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of
things not seen. (New American Standard Bible)
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance
about what we do not see. (New International Version)
4. 1. What is faith ?
This verse is written in a style of Hebrew Poetry, in which
two parallel and nearly identical phrases are used to state
the same thing.
Assurance is from the same Greek word translated ‘exact
representation’.
The faith described here involves the most solid possible
conviction, the God given present assurance of a future
reality.
Conviction 肯定性 of things not seen. True faith is not
based on empirical evidence but on divine assurance, and
is a gift of God (Eph 2:8)
The MacArthur Study bible NASB
5. Saving Faith
Knowledge, Approval and Personal Trust
Knowledge alone is not enough
Knowledge and approval are not enough.
I must decide to depend on Jesus to save me personally.
Saving faith is trust in Jesus Christ as a living person for
forgiveness of sins and eternal life with God.

6. 2. Why is faith significant?
先看一看Faith/believe在圣经里出现的次数,
Word

7. Significance of faith
Love
信
Faith +
悔改
Repentance
Faith on Jesus Christ alone saves us.
8. Faith is significant in your life
Hebrew 11:1
things hoped for, not seen. (New American Standard Bible)
The unknown and unseen requires us to have
faith to receive it, to believe it.
10. 3. What is faith based on?
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and
this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—Ephesians
2:8 New International Version (NIV) 8
Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and
perfecter of faith.
11. 4. How to gain faith?
John 3:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 For God so
loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal
life.
12. 6. What about case study?
神,说:"我父啊,倘若可行,求你叫这杯离开我;
Predestination or man’s free will
On one hand,
On the other hand,
