MEMBERS
Q1: What are Affiliate Members?
A1: Affiliate members are clubs registered with MAM after obtaining approval from PJS.
Q2: What are the Objectives of Affiliate Members?
A2: The objective of becoming an Affiliate is to contribute ideas and energy to develop the
motorsports industry in Malaysia.
Q3: What are the advantages of becoming an Affiliate Members?
A3: Affiliates will be given priority for every seminar organized by MAM at national or in
collaboration with Federation Internationale of Automobile (FIA) / Federation International
Motorcycle (FIM). Affiliate members will be given assistance at in the organizing of races if
necessary. MOST IMPORTANTLY, only registered clubs are given permission to organise
motorsports competitions in Malaysia (“Sanctioned events”).
Q4: If my club is not registered as an MAM Affiliate, does this mean that my club cannot
host sanctioned events?
A4: Yes. Clubs that are not registered with MAM are not allowed to organize competitions
starting January 2021.
Q5: Given that the COVID-19 pandemic is still on-going, what if my club did not have time
to register with MAM before the 2021 season?
A5: In this situation, MAM reserves the right to exercise its discretion whether to allow the
Club to host a race.
Q6: What is the process of applying to become an Affiliate Member of MAM?
A6: Before applying, a club must register with the Malaysian Sports Commission (PJS) under
the Sports Development Act 1997 (Act 567). The club will then require to submit the
application to MAM in writing together with the completed application form and along with
other supporting documents required as stated in the form.
Q7: What are the criteria of application to become an Affiliate Member of MAM?
A7: Only Club(s) registered with the Malaysian Sports Commissioner) can be an MAM Affiliate.
2. Q8: What about others such as track owners, manufacturer(s) or any other company?
Q8: Track owner(s), manufacturer(s) or any other organization directly related to motorsports
can only be an MAM Associate.
Q9: What is the annual fee to become an Affiliate or Associate member of MAM?
A9: The Annual affiliate fees for a club is RM 500, while associate fees for circuit owners and
companies is RM 2,500. The tenure is for one year only and needs to be renewed annually.
Q10: What is the minimum number of members required for a club to register as an affiliate
member of MAM?
A10: The minimum number of members including committee members is 25 people. No
minimum numbers of members required for Associate Members.
Q11: Is a newly registered Club eligible to organise a race?
A11: Yes. However newly registered clubs that do not have a track record of organizing races
will be monitored while undergoing a probation period of 12 months or under the discretion
of MAM.
Q12: Can a club or association hold exclusive organizational rights for an event or race
category?
A12: No. All clubs are free to organize races based on the compliance of organizing rules set
and approved by MAM.
Q13: What is the renewal period of membership for an MAM Affiliate?
A13: Each Member must renew their annual membership before 31st
December every year.
Failure to meet the deadline will automatically terminate its membership unless MAM
determines otherwise.
Q14: If a club wants to become an Affiliate in the middle of the year, will the annual fee be
pro-rated?
A14: No. Membership is based on fixed terms i.e. based on a yearly calendar (January 1
December 31).
Q15: What are the documents required to become an Affiliate Member of MAM?
A15: Each applicant must submit the following: -
• Application Form (complete)
• Club profile including list of members
• Club registration certificate from PJS
• Latest account statement
• 3-year club activity report (if any)
• SSM profile (for company/track owner)
• Other relevant documents as may be requested by MAM
3. Q16: What are the step-by-step processes involved in applying to be an MAM affiliate?
A16: The steps of the registration process are as follows: -
• Applicants need to submit a complete application form along with the required
documents (refer to A15) to MAM (application form can be downloaded from our
website: www.mam.org.my)
• The application review process will take approximately 7 working days.
• The results of the application will be notified via email to the applicant.
• Payment must be submitted after the application is approved.
• Certificate of membership will be given 3 days after payment is received (subject to
bank clearance).
