My Narrative Writing Assignment
I found much value in this week's narrative writing assignment. Through text reading and the
additional provisional resources, I acquired many tools that will be useful in my writing going forth.
As a result, I can readily see the benefits of utilizing the tools provided in the lessons.
In this week's lesson, I utilized outlines, narrative guidelines, and chronological word lists. Each of
these writing tools was instrumental in aiding me in preparing my narrative assignment. Before
writing my paper, I prepared a scratch outline to help streamline my thoughts and to create a
guideline for the direction of my paper. Doing so, reduced the time I normally would have spent over

Have you ever lit your pants on fire!?! Thankfully, neither have I, but I did make a fool of myself in
front of my entire class. All of my teachers and classmates know that I am a slow reader, but I

My teacher possessed a peculiar sense of humor and after she finished reading the chapter she
said in a villainous tone, "It might be smart to review your worksheets for a surprise quiz
tomorrow." Accompanying her evil statement was an equally evil smile that traversed her face.
The evil nature of her smile even gave me goosebumps. Taking her word that there was going to
be a pop quiz tomorrow, I made sure that I attained my book and worksheets to study with that
night. The next day, as promised, she handed out a short pop quiz. It was not as challenging as
she tried to make it sound. It presented only five multiple choice questions on it. Once we
finished our quizzes, she told us to read the next chapter silently. Once I finished my quiz at the
speed of light, I decided to finish other homework, since I preferred to read at home anyway. So
while the rest of my class was reading, I worked on homework. Thirty minutes later, I completely
finished all of my other assignments, so I decided to start reading the chapter. After nearly two

At the beginning of the year I knew that we would need to create an 8th grade project. I already
knew what I wanted to accomplish and thought that it was going to be super effortless.
Unfortunately, it wasn't. I realized that we must include the community with our project. Since I

I was only able to get two interviews because only two of employees were working that day. I
captured photos of them and more pictures of the actual company itself. About 3–4 weeks later my
mentor came over and we worked more on the photography portion and I was able to try out
different cameras. My subject was of my dog, Diesel. We tried editing some of the pictures so
that way they appeared more professional and I could learn on a professional photo editing site
how it works. For a while we talked about how I should put together my presentation. I drew out a
layout of a Trifold and how I wanted everything to fit on there. We decided on a simple layout for
the project. Now I am at project night and hoping that you have enjoyed my project. I have
genuinely worked hard on this project and learned so much about how people are perceived and

Driving down the interstate, I'm noticing the baby eye's going back, so I am praying in speaking
life over this baby. It took about 8 to 12 minutes to make it to the hospital. While driving mom
was crying and screaming in I am speaking life praying louder than her. By the time we made it to
the hospital the baby was back normal just crying. Doctors and nurses meet us as we pull in grab

In writing this paper, I revised my narrative essay by adding foreshadowing, changing some tense,
and deleting unnecessary sentences. I found that these changes made my paper a higher college
read. In my paper, I thought that adding some foreshadowing would create a little suspense about
my mother's death. I moved paragraph five to the second paragraph of my paper. This gave the
paper a more of an anticipation of what actually happened. I started the paragraph with an exact
quote to gain interest in the actual writing and to allow the reader to know that this is a narrative
paper. The next paragraph starts form the very beginning of my "happy" family. This paragraph
continues the paper and allows for the paper to build up to the event of the foreshadowing.
Reading over my narrative paper, I found several tense mistakes. In the first paragraph, I changed
"would" to "will" because the sentence is in present tense. "Would" was in past tense. Changing that
mistake allowed the sentence to be parallel. Along with paragraph one, paragraph two also had
several tense mistakes. Towards the end of the paragraph, the word "have" needs to change to "had".
These sentences are off topic and do not fit in the paper. Paragraph six contains the sentence, "Case,
my bother, graduated in two thousand and sixteen and on that day, I could see he was struggling
with the thought of her not being present." That sentence needed to be deleted because the sentence
did not make a whole lot of sense in that context. Although the sentence was relevant to the paper,
the sentence still needed to be deleted. In the conclusion paragraph, the second to last sentence
needed to also be deleted because the sentence was off topic. The sentence is talking about how she
was special, but the paragraph was talking about how she would be missed. Additionally to those

My essay for assignment 5 was the most memorable essay for me to write. When I first looked at
this assignment, I was nervous about writing a letter from my grandfather to myself. I did not
know what he would say to me since I didn't talk to him much during his last days. Instead of

Eighth grade isn't the best time to tell oneself to write a novel. It was an English assignment we had
to do over the course of November, and the bare minimum was to write 10,000 words––so merely a

Once I finished my last chapter, I didn't care if my teacher would bother to read this; I didn't care
about how bad my writing was; I didn't care if anyone read my bad writing. All I needed to do was
to get years of my bottled up emotions onto something.
Looking back at my writing three years later, I could not help but cringe at the numerous
grammatical mistakes and poorly constructed chapters. It took countless nights staying up hours past
my bedtime to construct the novel and be decently proud of it. In hindsight, I thought the nights
staying up were worth it, albeit tiring. My attempts of using SAT vocabulary words and trying to
incorporate them at the beginning of the novel looked incredibly stupid, and anyone can see my true
writing style towards the fifth page and beyond.
Like most people, I dislike looking at any of my work in the past––especially those that I gave in the
most effort but end up doing terribly, anyway. However, the feeling of cringe will forever be
inescapable as long as I get older. No matter how old I am, I will look back at my past with not

With the game tied 6–6 that is when I went into my own little zone and was in my moment. The
crowed was electrified and cheering us on. I thought about all the hard work the coaches put us

You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was
intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing
are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't
personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the
most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and
