Application for FIT Essay
Wayne Dyer once said "doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life".
Ever since I was a little girl, fashion has always been a very important part of my life. However,
while most young girls were busy designing Barbie's next outfit, I was enthusiastically trying to
figure out the best way to market and sell Barbie to my friends. This habit did not end during my
childhood years; rather it followed me through high school. I firmly believe that being passionate
about your career can add much happiness and depth to your life. By attending FIT I can bring and
take away positive ideas and qualities.
Throughout my high school career I focused on law. Law was not my passion but with a family full
of lawyers it is what I...show more content...
In my personal life I have displayed the quality of determination. During my young adolescent years
I was the victim of bullying. Not only did I receive this unfair treatment from my fellow students,
but I also received it from an unexpected source– a teacher. After three years of harassment, things
finally improved. I went to high school and learned how to defend myself. I gained my self–
confidence back and was able to use my experience to help others. During my sophomore year in
high–school, I helped launch two clubs. One club was for a free Tibet and the other to help stop
bullying in our school and area. Being determined helped me move on from what happened to me
and I was able to turn it into something positive that could help others.
The "Advertising, Marketing, and Communications" field is more than just a major. It is dealing
with people, using your mind, being creative, and being willing to step into the unknown. This
career requires people who are able to take charge and handle tasks in the best manner possible,
talents I believe I possess. To study this major at FIT, one must love fashion and be passionate
about it. Fashion does not just involve clothing, but it can tell a story and can convey different
emotions. It takes a special type of person to be able to create, advertise and market fashion. Being
able effectively communicate with individuals is also a very important skill that is

Goodness Of Fit Research Paper
I think the temperament and goodness of fit are the important concepts for early childhood educators
to learn and use in daily interactions with children, as well as for the curriculum planning. As an
educator, to understand the concept of goodness of fit can help us to decide the changes may be
needed so that there is a better match between the individual child and his environment, and approach
a situation with more empathy. By understanding the child temperament, educators can learn more
about how to help children to express their preferences, desires, and feelings appropriately by
accordingly to different types of temperament. Additionally, it will have us as the educator to have
more realistic expectation about the children. Therefore,

I believe that the Fashion Institute of Technology is a school that can change my life and career. I
truly believe that I am the perfect candidate for FIT because I am committed and passionate about
my academics and future goals. Putting aside a completely different major from fashion and
learning something new can be challenging, however, I am very desperate and motivated to take on
that task. I have confidence in myself, that I am in a perfect position where I will be able to adapt
to any learning environment. Furthermore, I want to study graphic design in depth and be able
to communicate through my artwork. I believe that FIT is the perfect school that can provide me
the perfect path to the life where I can make a living doing what I truly love and enjoy doing. I
genuinely love and appreciate art and the fact that you can express anything through it. When
people feel emotional through my art, I feel alive and energetic. Ever since I was young, I always
attempted to create something and because of that, I developed a great habit of expressing anything
through art. The ability to create an artwork using colors, lights, lines, forms, and shapes, is a
unique feeling. I was always an artistic kid where I was always interested in language, expressing

more on studying throughout my school years. However, my passion for art never decreased, but
had to be hidden deep inside my heart. I always had to convince myself that art was something I
could do as a hobby and there was something more important that I needed to focus on for a brighter

Every person has something they're passionate about – something that they love. Throughout my
life, music and fashion have always been there. Music is something that I have grown up with. In
my home there's rarely a moment of silence – always a radio playing or someone singing. Music
speaks to many emotionally, inducing sorrow, anger, sympathy, and a plethora of other emotions.
What music accomplishes for most by listening to the words, melodies, and rhythm – fashion does
for me by style, color, and texture. The first vivid memory of fashion that left an impact was when
the Nintendo DS was in its glory – roughly 2007. There was a video game called "Style Savvy" that
my sister had – and she was stumped. She couldn't style the virtual customer in a way that fit the

the career they're wanting through rigorous classwork, internships, and more; all of which I am
ready for. With the preparation, experience, and knowledge that FIT can provide me– I will be
assured a career in fashion design. Although I did not have as many opportunities in fashion as most,
I created opportunities for myself through my business creation, creation of a fashion club within my
school, and starting a fashion blog. At FIT I plan to take full usage of the numerous internships,
travel abroad opportunities, and any other extracurriculars that could benefit my career. Some
qualities that I find desirable to FIT would be my creative and unique way of thinking,
communication skills, and my "go get it" attitude. With the education, internships, and experience
that I gain from attending FIT, I know that I will obtain a job in my choice career without a

My Own Personal Organizational Fit
Analysis This paper is to present my own personal organizational fit. There will be some positives
and some negatives. There are many self–assessments one can locate on the web to help understand
one's preferences and skills for an organizational fit. This is my analysis of some of the attributes I
currently possess. These attributes are not permanently set in stone, as people change over time so
will the attributes. To be honest, some will always stay the same. Most will change with learning, on
hands learning, watching others, and self–improvement. At the present moment, these are my
attributes and what attributes I bring to an organization.
Type of Leader The type of leader one is an important factor for an organization to consider,...show

I enjoy helping people and feel that a company that invests in their employees is where I should be.
Positive/Negative Attributes Attributes can either be positive or negative. Attributes "means which
characteristics are generally seen as good, or bad" (What does, 2017). Everyone has both positive
and negative attributes. Per the DISC survey, I am strongest with steadiness at 41%. This means I
bring calmness, patience, and a high willingness to help others. My lowest was in dominance, which
means I am cautious and calculate risks carefully before acting. I feel that some other positive
attributes I bring to an organization are dependability, open–mindedness, determination,
accountability, honesty, and trustworthiness. I feel that a few of the negative attributes I bring are
the lack of standing up for myself and that I put other before myself.
Communication Style Per the What 's Your Communication Style? Assessment by Mark Murphy, my
communication style is personal communication. The plus of this style of communication is that I
not only listen to what the person is saying, I am also paying attention to their nonverbal
communication and their emotional language and connection. I am an active listener. It is easy for
me to "smooth" over conflicts and disagreements. The downside to this style is that people tend to
view personal communicators as the touchy–feely type. I do believe that

Fit for Fifteen Table of Contents
Introduction
Currently, college age individuals are more overwhelmed than ever. More often than not, a college
student will use the term "stressed out" to describe themselves. It seems to have become more of a
lifestyle over time without proper coping mechanisms. Why are college students so stressed out?
Students are constantly faced with many demands all at once – to study and achieve good grades, to
work, to pay bills, have a social life, and still manage to sleep, eat, and take care of themselves all
within the 24 hours the day has. Fit for Fifteen is a program that will benefit college students in
teaching them healthy coping mechanisms for stress, while helping them create healthy meal plans
and budgeting strategies.
Due to the fact that Fit for 15 will be partnered with Texas Woman'sUniversity, the program's
primary community partner will be the university's on–campus counseling center. Students
participating in Fit for 15 will be provided with psychological services from the counseling center in
an attempt to improve...show more content...
It is because of these obligations that many students develop stress related disorders such as
anxiety or depression. Current research supports the need for a program such as Fit for 15.
Shearer, Hunt, Chowdhury, & Nicol (2016) of the University of Pennsylvania researched and
studied the effects of being mindful of stressors on college students. College students undergo a
high level of stress, and if it is not properly managed, an individual can have more serious mental
health problems such as depression, anxiety, or emotional coping outlets (Shearer, Hunt, Chowdhury,
& Nicol, 2016). Effects of depression and anxiety onset by stress can be detrimental to a student's
performance. It is associated with an increase in absenteeism, school failure, substance abuse, and
suicide (Hysenbegasi,

Personal Exercise Plan Essay
Personal Exercise Plan I am going to organise my plan and then perform a personal exercise
program, the overall aims of my personal training programme are to: – 1. Improve specific and
current fitness levels required for my sporting activity football e.g. Cardio vascular endurance but
mainly speed. 2. To improve fitness levels so I can concentrate more on my techniques and skills
without having to worry about whether I can endure a full practice session. 3. To improve the level
of the standard of my performance and become more successful with my chosen sport 'football'. I
will organise a set number of sessions over a period of time using the FITT principle (frequency,

Power will enable me to compete with greater success when trying to win the ball in a tackle and
in the air. В· Power is the amount of work done per unit of time, so when we consider human
movement is the product of strength and speed. В· The same work (strength) can be done in a
shorter period of time (speed). Anaerobic and Aerobic Sessions When we reach our anaerobic
threshold, it means that we are working so hard that we cannot get enough oxygen to our muscles
quickly enough. Our muscles will have to get energy from the anaerobic energy system instead.
Lactic acid will immediately start to build up. This causes pain, makes us tired and we will not
be able to continue at the same intensity for very long. We will build up an oxygen debt and we
will also use up our limited supplies of oxygen. Although aerobic fitness will not be the main aim
of my fitness program, I will be improving it as my general fitness improves and should in turn help
better my speed and activities like swimming will help my cardio–vascular fitness and has other
advantages as it will improve my muscular endurance, flexibility and speed and improve
circulation. Having a high anaerobic fitness level will help in my football because it means I will be
able to keep going for longer when I have very little

Fitness
The word "Fit" stands for, Frequency, Intensity and Time. Frequency means how often the person
performs the type of physical activity that they are doing. Intensity means the effort and or
determination you put into the activity, such as pushing yourself hard, but not to the point of
difficulty where it may result in hurting yourself. Time means how many minutes, hours, or even
how many days per week you put into the activity. To me, being fit means to be able to use your
body when you want, how you want. You must be average in certain abilities such as aerobic
/anaerobic fitness, strength, flexibility, and nutrition. All of these components lead to being fit. Now,
my definition of being fit, is different from others'. For others,...show more content...
Things such as Exercising, Age, damage to your muscle tissues, and your Inflammatory system
response, all contribute to Doms. It's basically a weakening and painful condition due to damage
to muscle fibers/tissues. Now, Doms, is not the same as your regular soreness. Unlike your regular
soreness, which can last for about 2 days, Doms occurs for several continuous days and can occur
to anyone. Young athletes are more likely to receive Doms because younger athletes' bodies aren't
well adapted to the exercise they are performing and aren't ready to handle intense workouts. They
are less conditioned and lack muscle conditioning as well. This happens because their
Inflammatory system response is triggered by this person's exercising. It is being overused and all
because the person isn't used to and adjusted to their training zone. Older athletes receive Doms
because of their age and slow recovery responses. Due to age, their inflammatory system responses
are less efficient. There are many things that can help while Doms is taking place. Things such as
Ibuprofen, which helps decrease muscle soreness, Light stretching, which helps relieve the tightness
in your muscles, Gentle Massaging, which also helps relieve tightness but also increases blood
flow, Warm baths, they help loosen up your muscles and improve circulation, And Hot and or cold
Ice packs, which can also help both circulation and muscle recuperation. All these are alternatives to
help relieve pain due to

Physically Fit Essay
Imagine a young man or woman finishing a marathon in less than three hours. Envision some dude
built like a brick house showing off his bulging muscles and sporting a six–pack on the beach.
Picture some beast in the weight room that is strong as an ox and putting up 400 pounds on the
bench. When classifying somebody's fitness and health, many people feel feats such as these are
guidelines, or requirements, to being considered "physically fit." Often times, people are somewhat
mistaken as to what exactly constitutes as being physically fit. They see professional athletes, body
builders, or models and say to themselves, "I want to be physically fit like they are." What these
people look past is the fact that even though these people...show more content...
A BMI for adults less than 19.1 for women or 20.7 for men is considered underweight. To fall in the
overweight level, it is 27.3–32.2 for women and 27.8–31.1 for men (Brar). The body mass index
formula was actually developed by the Belgian statistician Adolphe Quetelet in the nineteenth
century (Brar). The BMI is a good way to predict adult's health risks, but it is not necessarily
perfect for all people. Results can sometimes be misleading for people who are built stockier,
professional athletes, and body builders. This is because it does not take frame size into account or
extra weight that is primarily muscle. Also, people over 65 do not fit the BMI ranges as they are
naturally supposed to have a slightly higher level to act as a useful energy reserve to fight possible
illness.
An additional test one can perform to check their physical fitness is called the waist to hip ratio. To
find this, one must use a tape measure to find the circumference of their hips at the widest part of
the buttocks and the smallest circumference of the waist just above the belly button. Then, divide
the waist measurement by the hip measurement. A score of 1.0 or greater for men and women
means they are at a higher risk for health problems such as heart disease (Hager). These tests are
good measurements of physical fitness because they focus more on an overall healthy body rather
than necessarily having that perfect looking body.
Another important aspect of physical fitness is resting

Increasing my physical fitness
I would like to increase my physical fitness. Since being diagnosed with prediabetes this change has
become important to me. According to American Diabetes Association (2015) Prediabetes is when
your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet hit the diabetes marker. You have a
higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The consequences of pre–diabetes can be the same as
type 2 diabetes. There is still a chance I can lower my A1C and reverse the diagnosis. Becoming
physically fit has many health benefits, not to mention looking better. With the right plan it will be
fun. I want to include physical activity in a way that becomes routine, but not boring. My long–term
goal is for the changes to become a permanent part of my routine. I want to include a healthy eating
plan. Not a diet per say, but change my eating habits. I want to change diet and exercise habits in a
way that increase my physical fitness permanently.
There are two maybe three psychological concepts impacting my choice. The first is stress. If I am
physically fit, I will be better equipped to deal with stress. According to the American Diabetes
Association (2015) when we are under stress blood sugar rises to supply energy for the fight or
flight response. The benefits are intertwined. I can lower my stress, and in turn that will lower my
blood sugar, and I can become physically fit and that will lower my stress and my blood sugar.

Contingency Approach : The Best Fit Model
Contingency Approach (The best fit model) The contingency approach to SHRM practice seeks
to align people management practices with competitive business strategies to generate increased
performance (Miles and Snow 1978). HRM practices that are not consistent with business
strategies and are in conflict with other HRM practices, create confusion or ambiguity which may
lead to decreased performance for the individual and the organisation (Schuler and Jackson, 1987;
Schuler, 1989). Forbrum et al (1984) produced the 'matching model', the main aim being to
develop an appropriate 'human resource system' that will characterise those HRM strategies that
contribute to the most efficient implementation of business strategies. This practice is efficient to
implement in organisations where the requirements of consumers are well known, resulting in
mass production of standardised goods or services at the lowest possible cost. Like other
resources of organisation, human resources have to be obtained cheaply, used sparingly and
developed and exploited as fully as possible. Employees are advised of a set of behavioural
expectations that are to be assumed whilst completing work related tasks. It has been suggested
that the matching model also misses the 'human' aspect of human resources (Guest, 1987; Storey,
1992; Legge, 1995). The sector most likely to use this type of approach would be the service sector,
which has grown considerably over the last 170 years, increasing to levels

Personal Statement: I Am Perfect For FIT
One other reason I believe I'm perfect for FIT is due to my certainty. I am certain that graduating
with a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from FIT is what I want. For the last three years, I tried
to concentrate on other fields of studies at my current university (to please my parents' wishes) but,
nothing interested me. I had no desire for the things I was learning and, I became unmotivated to do
great in a school I felt lost in. After switching my major twice, I found that nothing other than
fashion kept me happy. I realized that I was wasting time attending my current university especially,
when I knew FIT was the one school I wanted to attend. Because of this experience in college, I was
positive that the major I needed to study was

Goodness Of Fit Theory: A Case Study
Another perspective that we can address is the goodness of fit theory which addresses the idea that a
child's development is dependent on temperament and how well the nature of the environment in
which they are raised in matches with it (Feldman, 2011). Temperament is an individual's innate
personality that was instilled and never learned (Feldman, 2011). For example, since Leo's
temperament was slow–to–warm up, he resulted in very little activity levels, withdrew from social
situations, and was irritated easily in the presence of unfamiliar faces (Carey, 1972). I viewed this as
a pessimistic trait that he epitomized, and never realized until his depression that this was who he
truly was. In attempts to "fix" what I thought was broken, I pushed him towards extracurricular
activities. In reality, Leo was very introverted and became emotionally drained because of this so he
always resorted to his room to be alone. Instead, I should have inspired Leo to participate in solitary
activities that he enjoyed such as playing a musical instrument alone and unaccompanied activities
(Carey, 1972). This scenario reinforces the importance the goodness of fit theory and balancing one's
temperament with the environment in which they grow in, otherwise there are possibilities of
obstructing a child's development by forcing them into certain situations and molding them into
someone they're not. One of the parenting choices that didn't have any effect was when I attempted
to stimulate and

FIT Reflective Essay
Once, I was faced with the knowledge that the administration at my residential treatment center was
considering shutting down their very successful exercise program, FIT. As word spread about this
unfortunate situation, people became very upset and angry. However, very few people were willing
to talk about it or discuss it with the administration. This situation weighed heavy on my heart
because the benefits of the program were so important to those who used it. It served their needs in
so many ways in terms of physical fitness, self–confidence, improving character, motivation, goal
setting, and more, that the thought of the program being cut was devastating to everyone. The
program and the instructors had impacted and saved so many lives,...show more content...
As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about
things that matter." After rallying support from my peers, we had a meeting with the
administration to voice our frustrations and let them know just how much FIT meant to us.
After the administration countered back to one person, the rest of my peers were quick to shut
up and shut down until I was the only one standing up for a cause that we all believed in. Driven
by my character and passion for the cause, I used my intelligence to counter their arguments and
offer viable solutions. I didn't accept their no's or their excuses as an answer. Despite my support
disappearing, I refused to give up because I wanted my voice to be heard. With intelligence comes
responsibility and I happily took that responsibility on to do everything I possibly could to save the
program that meant the world to me and so many others. Some education happens in the classroom,
but it's when we're able to use it in real world situations that we become leaders and problem
solvers. With intelligence and character, one is not as good without the other. One may have the
intelligence needed to act appropriately but without strong moral character, one may not be willing
to stand up for what is

Fit Quest Project Research Paper
The Fit quest project is a very interesting project in my mind. It gives children the opportunity to
research about kids like them. Whether they're like Randy, Angela, or Jimmy, it gives students the
chance and time to find out how they can make themselves healthier while incorporating school
work. I personally think the Fit quest project is a project that indirectly makes students ,who would
otherwise ignore their health, research and think about their health and how they can improve.
While working on this project I have learned that physical fitness does not come easy. It takes
commitment, time, and will power. Without these you can't obtain physical fitness or maintain it.
Physical fitness is not easy to gain nor is it easy to keep it. If it was then everyone would do it,
but those who stick to their plan will gain enormous rewards and their life will be significantly
better. The second thing I learned is that physical fitness doesn't have to be costly, but it can. Just
some regular tennis shoes, some cold weather gear, and you're ready to go, but it can sometimes be

You can't gain peak physical fitness by just eating properly, or just working, or just planning. In
fact it does more damage than good when you do just one of these. By just eating well you're not
gaining any muscle mass, cardiovascular benefits, or doing anything for your body except making
sure the things that are going in are healthy. And by working out properly and not eating well, or
planning your workouts, you could find out that the workouts you're trying to do are too expensive,
or that you can't take the classes required. And without knowing what to do you may skip important
steps such as warmups and cool downs and stretching which will greatly affect your ability to
perform. And by just planning and learning and not actually doing anything, well... That not doing

Many of us strive to find the best recipes online, buy all the important ingredients and then block out

Planning out a healthy meal every single day can get tiresome and frustrating. When work, school,

Secondly, I agree with you and your interests are dividing and that can be hard to satisfy, but the

  • 1. Application for FIT Essay Wayne Dyer once said "doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life". Ever since I was a little girl, fashion has always been a very important part of my life. However, while most young girls were busy designing Barbie's next outfit, I was enthusiastically trying to figure out the best way to market and sell Barbie to my friends. This habit did not end during my childhood years; rather it followed me through high school. I firmly believe that being passionate about your career can add much happiness and depth to your life. By attending FIT I can bring and take away positive ideas and qualities. Throughout my high school career I focused on law. Law was not my passion but with a family full of lawyers it is what I...show more content... In my personal life I have displayed the quality of determination. During my young adolescent years I was the victim of bullying. Not only did I receive this unfair treatment from my fellow students, but I also received it from an unexpected source– a teacher. After three years of harassment, things finally improved. I went to high school and learned how to defend myself. I gained my self– confidence back and was able to use my experience to help others. During my sophomore year in high–school, I helped launch two clubs. One club was for a free Tibet and the other to help stop bullying in our school and area. Being determined helped me move on from what happened to me and I was able to turn it into something positive that could help others. The "Advertising, Marketing, and Communications" field is more than just a major. It is dealing with people, using your mind, being creative, and being willing to step into the unknown. This career requires people who are able to take charge and handle tasks in the best manner possible, talents I believe I possess. To study this major at FIT, one must love fashion and be passionate about it. Fashion does not just involve clothing, but it can tell a story and can convey different emotions. It takes a special type of person to be able to create, advertise and market fashion. Being able effectively communicate with individuals is also a very important skill that is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Goodness Of Fit Research Paper I think the temperament and goodness of fit are the important concepts for early childhood educators to learn and use in daily interactions with children, as well as for the curriculum planning. As an educator, to understand the concept of goodness of fit can help us to decide the changes may be needed so that there is a better match between the individual child and his environment, and approach a situation with more empathy. By understanding the child temperament, educators can learn more about how to help children to express their preferences, desires, and feelings appropriately by accordingly to different types of temperament. Additionally, it will have us as the educator to have more realistic expectation about the children. Therefore, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. FIT Personal Statement I believe that the Fashion Institute of Technology is a school that can change my life and career. I truly believe that I am the perfect candidate for FIT because I am committed and passionate about my academics and future goals. Putting aside a completely different major from fashion and learning something new can be challenging, however, I am very desperate and motivated to take on that task. I have confidence in myself, that I am in a perfect position where I will be able to adapt to any learning environment. Furthermore, I want to study graphic design in depth and be able to communicate through my artwork. I believe that FIT is the perfect school that can provide me the perfect path to the life where I can make a living doing what I truly love and enjoy doing. I genuinely love and appreciate art and the fact that you can express anything through it. When people feel emotional through my art, I feel alive and energetic. Ever since I was young, I always attempted to create something and because of that, I developed a great habit of expressing anything through art. The ability to create an artwork using colors, lights, lines, forms, and shapes, is a unique feeling. I was always an artistic kid where I was always interested in language, expressing ...show more content... My parents would always force me to study, so therefore, I would always study hard and try to finish my daily chores as soon as possible so I can find time to squeeze in art. My parents always expected me to receive high grades, so as they wished, I gradually stopped doing art and focused more on studying throughout my school years. However, my passion for art never decreased, but had to be hidden deep inside my heart. I always had to convince myself that art was something I could do as a hobby and there was something more important that I needed to focus on for a brighter future, however, I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Fit Personal Statement Every person has something they're passionate about – something that they love. Throughout my life, music and fashion have always been there. Music is something that I have grown up with. In my home there's rarely a moment of silence – always a radio playing or someone singing. Music speaks to many emotionally, inducing sorrow, anger, sympathy, and a plethora of other emotions. What music accomplishes for most by listening to the words, melodies, and rhythm – fashion does for me by style, color, and texture. The first vivid memory of fashion that left an impact was when the Nintendo DS was in its glory – roughly 2007. There was a video game called "Style Savvy" that my sister had – and she was stumped. She couldn't style the virtual customer in a way that fit the customers...show more content... With the preparation, experience, and knowledge that FIT can provide me– I will be assured a career in fashion design. Although I did not have as many opportunities in fashion as most, I created opportunities for myself through my business creation, creation of a fashion club within my school, and starting a fashion blog. At FIT I plan to take full usage of the numerous internships, travel abroad opportunities, and any other extracurriculars that could benefit my career. Some qualities that I find desirable to FIT would be my creative and unique way of thinking, communication skills, and my "go get it" attitude. With the education, internships, and experience that I gain from attending FIT, I know that I will obtain a job in my choice career without a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Own Personal Organizational Fit Analysis This paper is to present my own personal organizational fit. There will be some positives and some negatives. There are many self–assessments one can locate on the web to help understand one's preferences and skills for an organizational fit. This is my analysis of some of the attributes I currently possess. These attributes are not permanently set in stone, as people change over time so will the attributes. To be honest, some will always stay the same. Most will change with learning, on hands learning, watching others, and self–improvement. At the present moment, these are my attributes and what attributes I bring to an organization. I enjoy helping people and feel that a company that invests in their employees is where I should be. Positive/Negative Attributes Attributes can either be positive or negative. Attributes "means which characteristics are generally seen as good, or bad" (What does, 2017). Everyone has both positive and negative attributes. Per the DISC survey, I am strongest with steadiness at 41%. This means I bring calmness, patience, and a high willingness to help others. My lowest was in dominance, which means I am cautious and calculate risks carefully before acting. I feel that some other positive attributes I bring to an organization are dependability, open–mindedness, determination, accountability, honesty, and trustworthiness. I feel that a few of the negative attributes I bring are the lack of standing up for myself and that I put other before myself. Communication Style Per the What 's Your Communication Style? Assessment by Mark Murphy, my communication style is personal communication. The plus of this style of communication is that I not only listen to what the person is saying, I am also paying attention to their nonverbal communication and their emotional language and connection. I am an active listener. It is easy for me to "smooth" over conflicts and disagreements. The downside to this style is that people tend to view personal communicators as the touchy–feely type. • 6. Fit For 15 Research Paper Sarah Osbon February 16, 2017 HS 4353.50 Grant Writing Fit for Fifteen Table of Contents Introduction Currently, college age individuals are more overwhelmed than ever. More often than not, a college student will use the term "stressed out" to describe themselves. It seems to have become more of a lifestyle over time without proper coping mechanisms. Why are college students so stressed out? Students are constantly faced with many demands all at once – to study and achieve good grades, to work, to pay bills, have a social life, and still manage to sleep, eat, and take care of themselves all within the 24 hours the day has. Fit for Fifteen is a program that will benefit college students in teaching them healthy coping mechanisms for stress, while helping them create healthy meal plans and budgeting strategies. Due to the fact that Fit for 15 will be partnered with Texas Woman'sUniversity, the program's primary community partner will be the university's on–campus counseling center. Students participating in Fit for 15 will be provided with psychological services from the counseling center in an attempt to improve...show more content... It is because of these obligations that many students develop stress related disorders such as anxiety or depression. Current research supports the need for a program such as Fit for 15. Shearer, Hunt, Chowdhury, & Nicol (2016) of the University of Pennsylvania researched and studied the effects of being mindful of stressors on college students. College students undergo a high level of stress, and if it is not properly managed, an individual can have more serious mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, or emotional coping outlets (Shearer, Hunt, Chowdhury, & Nicol, 2016). Effects of depression and anxiety onset by stress can be detrimental to a student's performance. It is associated with an increase in absenteeism, school failure, substance abuse, and suicide (Hysenbegasi, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Improve specific and current fitness levels required for my sporting activity football e.g. Cardio vascular endurance but mainly speed. 2. To improve fitness levels so I can concentrate more on my techniques and skills without having to worry about whether I can endure a full practice session. 3. Anaerobic and Aerobic Sessions When we reach our anaerobic threshold, it means that we are working so hard that we cannot get enough oxygen to our muscles quickly enough. Our muscles will have to get energy from the anaerobic energy system instead. Lactic acid will immediately start to build up. This causes pain, makes us tired and we will not be able to continue at the same intensity for very long. We will build up an oxygen debt and we will also use up our limited supplies of oxygen. Although aerobic fitness will not be the main aim of my fitness program, I will be improving it as my general fitness improves and should in turn help better my speed and activities like swimming will help my cardio–vascular fitness and has other advantages as it will improve my muscular endurance, flexibility and speed and improve circulation. • 9. Being Fit Research Paper Fitness The word "Fit" stands for, Frequency, Intensity and Time. Frequency means how often the person performs the type of physical activity that they are doing. Intensity means the effort and or determination you put into the activity, such as pushing yourself hard, but not to the point of difficulty where it may result in hurting yourself. Time means how many minutes, hours, or even how many days per week you put into the activity. To me, being fit means to be able to use your body when you want, how you want. Things such as Exercising, Age, damage to your muscle tissues, and your Inflammatory system response, all contribute to Doms. It's basically a weakening and painful condition due to damage to muscle fibers/tissues. Now, Doms, is not the same as your regular soreness. Unlike your regular soreness, which can last for about 2 days, Doms occurs for several continuous days and can occur to anyone. Young athletes are more likely to receive Doms because younger athletes' bodies aren't well adapted to the exercise they are performing and aren't ready to handle intense workouts. They are less conditioned and lack muscle conditioning as well. This happens because their Inflammatory system response is triggered by this person's exercising. It is being overused and all because the person isn't used to and adjusted to their training zone. Older athletes receive Doms because of their age and slow recovery responses. Due to age, their inflammatory system responses are less efficient. There are many things that can help while Doms is taking place. Things such as Ibuprofen, which helps decrease muscle soreness, Light stretching, which helps relieve the tightness in your muscles, Gentle Massaging, which also helps relieve tightness but also increases blood flow, Warm baths, they help loosen up your muscles and improve circulation, And Hot and or cold Ice packs, which can also help both circulation and muscle recuperation. • 10. Physically Fit Essay Imagine a young man or woman finishing a marathon in less than three hours. Envision some dude built like a brick house showing off his bulging muscles and sporting a six–pack on the beach. Picture some beast in the weight room that is strong as an ox and putting up 400 pounds on the bench. When classifying somebody's fitness and health, many people feel feats such as these are guidelines, or requirements, to being considered "physically fit." Often times, people are somewhat mistaken as to what exactly constitutes as being physically fit. They see professional athletes, body builders, or models and say to themselves, "I want to be physically fit like they are." What these people look past is the fact that even though these people...show more content... A BMI for adults less than 19.1 for women or 20.7 for men is considered underweight. To fall in the overweight level, it is 27.3–32.2 for women and 27.8–31.1 for men (Brar). The body mass index formula was actually developed by the Belgian statistician Adolphe Quetelet in the nineteenth century (Brar). The BMI is a good way to predict adult's health risks, but it is not necessarily perfect for all people. Results can sometimes be misleading for people who are built stockier, professional athletes, and body builders. This is because it does not take frame size into account or extra weight that is primarily muscle. Also, people over 65 do not fit the BMI ranges as they are naturally supposed to have a slightly higher level to act as a useful energy reserve to fight possible illness. An additional test one can perform to check their physical fitness is called the waist to hip ratio. To find this, one must use a tape measure to find the circumference of their hips at the widest part of the buttocks and the smallest circumference of the waist just above the belly button. Then, divide the waist measurement by the hip measurement. A score of 1.0 or greater for men and women means they are at a higher risk for health problems such as heart disease (Hager). These tests are good measurements of physical fitness because they focus more on an overall healthy body rather than necessarily having that perfect looking body. Another important aspect of physical fitness is resting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Personal Development Exercise : Physical Fitness Personal Development Exercise Increasing my physical fitness I would like to increase my physical fitness. Since being diagnosed with prediabetes this change has become important to me. According to American Diabetes Association (2015) Prediabetes is when your blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not yet hit the diabetes marker. You have a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes. The consequences of pre–diabetes can be the same as type 2 diabetes. There is still a chance I can lower my A1C and reverse the diagnosis. Becoming physically fit has many health benefits, not to mention looking better. With the right plan it will be fun. I want to include physical activity in a way that becomes routine, but not boring. My long–term goal is for the changes to become a permanent part of my routine. I want to include a healthy eating plan. Not a diet per say, but change my eating habits. I want to change diet and exercise habits in a way that increase my physical fitness permanently. There are two maybe three psychological concepts impacting my choice. The first is stress. If I am physically fit, I will be better equipped to deal with stress. According to the American Diabetes Association (2015) when we are under stress blood sugar rises to supply energy for the fight or flight response. The benefits are intertwined. I can lower my stress, and in turn that will lower my blood sugar, and I can become physically fit and that will lower my stress and my blood sugar. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Contingency Approach : The Best Fit Model Contingency Approach (The best fit model) The contingency approach to SHRM practice seeks to align people management practices with competitive business strategies to generate increased performance (Miles and Snow 1978). HRM practices that are not consistent with business strategies and are in conflict with other HRM practices, create confusion or ambiguity which may lead to decreased performance for the individual and the organisation (Schuler and Jackson, 1987; Schuler, 1989). Forbrum et al (1984) produced the 'matching model', the main aim being to develop an appropriate 'human resource system' that will characterise those HRM strategies that contribute to the most efficient implementation of business strategies. This practice is efficient to implement in organisations where the requirements of consumers are well known, resulting in mass production of standardised goods or services at the lowest possible cost. Like other resources of organisation, human resources have to be obtained cheaply, used sparingly and developed and exploited as fully as possible. Employees are advised of a set of behavioural expectations that are to be assumed whilst completing work related tasks. It has been suggested that the matching model also misses the 'human' aspect of human resources (Guest, 1987; Storey, 1992; Legge, 1995). The sector most likely to use this type of approach would be the service sector, which has grown considerably over the last 170 years, increasing to levels Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Personal Statement: I Am Perfect For FIT One other reason I believe I'm perfect for FIT is due to my certainty. I am certain that graduating with a bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from FIT is what I want. For the last three years, I tried to concentrate on other fields of studies at my current university (to please my parents' wishes) but, nothing interested me. I had no desire for the things I was learning and, I became unmotivated to do great in a school I felt lost in. After switching my major twice, I found that nothing other than fashion kept me happy. I realized that I was wasting time attending my current university especially, when I knew FIT was the one school I wanted to attend. Because of this experience in college, I was positive that the major I needed to study was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Goodness Of Fit Theory: A Case Study Another perspective that we can address is the goodness of fit theory which addresses the idea that a child's development is dependent on temperament and how well the nature of the environment in which they are raised in matches with it (Feldman, 2011). Temperament is an individual's innate personality that was instilled and never learned (Feldman, 2011). For example, since Leo's temperament was slow–to–warm up, he resulted in very little activity levels, withdrew from social situations, and was irritated easily in the presence of unfamiliar faces (Carey, 1972). I viewed this as a pessimistic trait that he epitomized, and never realized until his depression that this was who he truly was. In attempts to "fix" what I thought was broken, I pushed him towards extracurricular activities. In reality, Leo was very introverted and became emotionally drained because of this so he always resorted to his room to be alone. Instead, I should have inspired Leo to participate in solitary activities that he enjoyed such as playing a musical instrument alone and unaccompanied activities (Carey, 1972). This scenario reinforces the importance the goodness of fit theory and balancing one's temperament with the environment in which they grow in, otherwise there are possibilities of obstructing a child's development by forcing them into certain situations and molding them into someone they're not. One of the parenting choices that didn't have any effect was when I attempted to stimulate and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. FIT Reflective Essay Once, I was faced with the knowledge that the administration at my residential treatment center was considering shutting down their very successful exercise program, FIT. As word spread about this unfortunate situation, people became very upset and angry. However, very few people were willing to talk about it or discuss it with the administration. This situation weighed heavy on my heart because the benefits of the program were so important to those who used it. It served their needs in so many ways in terms of physical fitness, self–confidence, improving character, motivation, goal setting, and more, that the thought of the program being cut was devastating to everyone. The program and the instructors had impacted and saved so many lives,...show more content... As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." After rallying support from my peers, we had a meeting with the administration to voice our frustrations and let them know just how much FIT meant to us. After the administration countered back to one person, the rest of my peers were quick to shut up and shut down until I was the only one standing up for a cause that we all believed in. Driven by my character and passion for the cause, I used my intelligence to counter their arguments and offer viable solutions. I didn't accept their no's or their excuses as an answer. Despite my support disappearing, I refused to give up because I wanted my voice to be heard. With intelligence comes responsibility and I happily took that responsibility on to do everything I possibly could to save the program that meant the world to me and so many others. Some education happens in the classroom, but it's when we're able to use it in real world situations that we become leaders and problem solvers. With intelligence and character, one is not as good without the other. One may have the intelligence needed to act appropriately but without strong moral character, one may not be willing to stand up for what is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Fit Quest Project Research Paper The Fit quest project is a very interesting project in my mind. It gives children the opportunity to research about kids like them. Whether they're like Randy, Angela, or Jimmy, it gives students the chance and time to find out how they can make themselves healthier while incorporating school work. I personally think the Fit quest project is a project that indirectly makes students ,who would otherwise ignore their health, research and think about their health and how they can improve. While working on this project I have learned that physical fitness does not come easy. It takes commitment, time, and will power. Without these you can't obtain physical fitness or maintain it. Physical fitness is not easy to gain nor is it easy to keep it. If it was then everyone would do it, but those who stick to their plan will gain enormous rewards and their life will be significantly better. The second thing I learned is that physical fitness doesn't have to be costly, but it can. Just some regular tennis shoes, some cold weather gear, and you're ready to go, but it can sometimes be ...show more content... You can't gain peak physical fitness by just eating properly, or just working, or just planning. In fact it does more damage than good when you do just one of these. By just eating well you're not gaining any muscle mass, cardiovascular benefits, or doing anything for your body except making sure the things that are going in are healthy. And by working out properly and not eating well, or planning your workouts, you could find out that the workouts you're trying to do are too expensive, or that you can't take the classes required. And without knowing what to do you may skip important steps such as warmups and cool downs and stretching which will greatly affect your ability to perform.
