• Most learning is continual, interactive and happens
outside an LMS.
• Technology is changing fast. Your LMS is obsolete by
the time you sign the procurement documents.
• The workforce is becoming decentralised, mobile and
virtual.
• People want their learning inside the company to be
the same as it is outside.
• Implicit and tacit knowledge cannot be codified into a
training course.
• “Supporting the creation of social networks can
increase knowledge-sharing which can lead to more
innovation, because chance favours the connected
company.” - Harold Jarche.
• Complex problems often require insight, beyond what training can prepare you for.
• There are no clear objectives with complex problems
• Prescribing training to address complex performance situations will not work.
• Instead, systems and structures are needed to support social learning
