This team is working with Project 16:49 to provide a half-court basketball/recreational court at their new home for boys in Janesville. This will provide an opportunity for the young men to socialize and engage in recreational activities.

- 9. Common Interests With each of us having very different personalities and leadership qualities - How could we possibly work together and decide on a project to work on?

- 12. 16 Hours: 49 Minutes
- 16. September: • Brainstorm and selected our project • Confirmed project 16:49 was a willing participant • Identified a specific need that our group could address and fulfill October: • Visited House to identify where the court could go • Contacted City of Janesville regarding permits • Diggers hotline laid flags • Started logistics of laying court and supplies needed Timeline

November/December • Completed letter for businesses to ask for donations • Started getting commitments on donations • Gravel/Concrete – Lycon • Recreational Equipment – Blain’s Farm& Fleet • Brainstormed on how we wanted to showcase our recognitions for donations • Bricks around court Timeline

- 20. January/February • Created a website to post a link for monetary donations • Began receiving financial donations March • Attended a ribbon cutting for project 16:49 • Decided on building benches vs laying bricks for recognition Timeline

- 23. • WEATHER, WEATHER & WEATHER! • Deciding on how to show our appreciation and recognition to donators • Facebook page • When we put the first bench together we determined it was to narrow, so we determined that we could add an additional piece with the supplies we had and solved our problem. • Confirmed commitments and people/businesses backing out Obstacles

- 25. Springtime is here and we are still on hold… Digging and pouring of concrete are still on hold due to weather and ground conditions.

- 29. WITHIN 2 DAYS OF EXCAVATION, CEMENT MUST BE POURED TO ENSURE IT STAYS LEVEL.

- Project 16:49 is the amount of time from when school ends one day and starts the next. Project 16:49 is a local non-profit organization serving Rock County’s unaccompanied homeless teens. They believe every child deserves an opportunity to succeed. To that end, Project 16:49 ensures access to the services and support these students need to remain in school, graduate and become self-sufficient adults. What they provide: They help in securing access to safe and stable housing . They also help by providing case management and support to youth as they work to complete an individual goal plan.
- Network Grow as individuals Develop / Hone our leadership skills Be a positive influence to our friends/family/coworkers/and community Help make a long standing difference within Rock County by helping the youth and future of our GREAT community.
- 10 DAYS PRIOR TO DIGGING
- While the people in our group have either lived, raised a family and worked in Rock County, we had no idea how many great organizations, businesses and community members there actually are. We all appreciate the opportunity to have built relationships with not only LDA classmates, but several community leaders.
- It’s been such a delightful journey getting to know who we are as leaders and how each of us can approach many different personalities in the work place and at home. Being involved with LDA, has opened new doors for our involvement with the community and hopefully there will be more to come. Being able to see how one little task or act of kindness could change someone’s entire life, is beyond rewarding. Thank you, LDA!
