2.  When the ovaries are no longer
producing enough estrogen for a regular
cycle
 Occurs between the ages of 40-65
 The average age is 51
 If a women smokes she is more likely to
experience it sooner

3.  The inability to conceive
› Primary infertility: when a couple has not
become pregnant after at least one year of
unprotected sex
› Secondary infertility: when a couple have
been pregnant once but never again
 Some causes:
› Tumors, diabetes, eating disorders, poor
nutrition, drinking too much alcohol and
more.

4.  Pain during intercourse
› Due to structural problems or psychological
concerns.
 Symptoms:
› Pain with every penetration, burning or aching
pain and new pain after pain-free intercourse
 Treatment:
› Medications: a flexible ring that releases a small
amount of estrogen directly to your vagina
› Therapy: Desensitization therapy, counseling or
sex therapy.

5.  Difficulty becoming sexually aroused, or
not at all
 Causes:
› Religious views thinking sex is sinful, no
attraction to partner, traumatic event, drug
use, would rather masturbate or nervous
system disease.
