Hamlet Compare And Contrast Essay
Compare and Contrast Essay Boxes are common inanimate objects that are found in most
households. They are used to store objects that are unwanted or to hold gifts for loved ones. The
theme of love in Hamlet on the other hand is an intense emotion that can not be found in every
relationship. So with all of their differences what makes them alike? Imagine that someone is
unpacking boxes and helping a friend move into their new place. They have just completed
unwrapping all of the dishes and glassware, but failed to see the newspaper that floated past the
trash can and onto the floor behind them. They step backwards and slip on the sheet of newspaper
and fall into a box. The box rips, and they land flat on their back. There is an audible gasp...show

Even though boxes have multiple uses, according to the article Boxes – Their Importance and Uses
:"Boxes are commonly used as storage." (The Green Book, 2012). Boxes are made to contain
things, so it would be expected that they would be strong and not easily broken. In some instances
the box may become fragile or worn out after being used multiple times. The same applies to the love
shown in hamlet. When people first fall in love the emotion is strong and the relationship can last
for what feels like forever as shown through Gertrude and King Hamlet's love. This is due to how
the "reward system is stimulated through very simple means," so the smallest of touches or "even
just thinking about" them can cause an "increase [in] elevated mood" (Fisher 2013). After time
passes the butterflies and intensity of emotions dies down and there needs to be more effort put
into the relationship to keep it going. This can cause break ups because of how little effort is put
into showing the other person that love still exists in the relationship. The longer a relationship
lasts the more fragile the connection and love between them gets, so if one person is not giving as
much effort as the other because they believe that the other person should do all of the work then
the relationship may fail. Through time and use both boxes and love can become so fragile that
they may not be able to be

Essay on Contracts
Contracts A contract is formed between two or more parties. In order for a contract to be legally
binding there must be offer and acceptance. This simple basis for a contract is not as clear cut as
it first appears. In certain circumstances it is often necessary for the two parties to the contract to
communicate via post or by other indirect means. This practise gives rise to the problem of whether
an acceptance is given when it is posted or when it is received....show more content...
telephone or face to face). The postal rule is in place to deal with a problem caused by the
circumstance of postal or 'long distance' contractual agreements. The case of Entores Ltd v Miles
Far East Corporation[2] is an important case when considering the postal rule and its application.
The dictum of Denning L.J suggests two important facts; firstly, a contract made by post is
complete as soon as the letter of acceptance is put in the post box. Secondly, the communication of
acceptance by means which are "virtually instantaneous" is distinguishable and must "stand on a
different footing"[3]. Several examples of circumstances are given by Lord Justice Denning in his
ruling. He gives the telex example in which it is clear that if the acceptance is not communicated
due to intervening circumstances then it is the duty of the party accepting the offer to ensure that
there is acceptance is properly received. Only if A believes his acceptance has been received and
it has not, due to a problem at the offeror's end is the offeror bound. It is his own fault and he will
be estopped from claiming he did not receive the message. One important point to consider when
discussing email communication is the fact that it is often the case that emails are not received
instantaneously. It can sometimes be the case that a message sent via email can take hours and

Chapter seven also has many similarities and differences between the text and video versions. The
first textual scene varies quite differently from that of the movie. The book begins with Mr.
Pumblechook and Pip eating breakfast together. Pumblechook quizzes Pip on his times tables, and
then the pair makes its way toward Miss Havisham's house, whereas in the video, they are already
reached Miss Havisham's. Another difference arises through the dialogue of Pumblechook and
Estella upon Pumblechook and Pip's arrival at Miss Havisham's house. When Pip and Pumblechook
first encounter Estella, in the novel, the conversation takes place through an opened window, and
Pumblechook does not enter the house (689), whereas in the film, Pumblechook and Pip enter
through a creaking wooden door, and the young girl...show more content...
The difference in lighting probably so that the viewer could more easily see the action of the
scene. Miss Havisham's attire, both during her and Pip's initial meeting and throughout the novel,
does not vary between the texts. Her white dress and white veil reveal Miss Havisham's history,
which characterizes Miss Havisham. When Miss Havisham first speaks to Pip, there is no
difference between the two works. Miss Havisham asks "Who is it?", and receives the reply "Pip,
ma'am". She then questions "Pip?", to which Pip elaborates "Mr. Pumblechook's boy...Come––to
play" (690). Following learning Pip's name, in both the book and the movie, Miss Havisham
instructs Pip to "Come nearer; let [her] look at [him]" (690). Once Pip has moved closer to Miss
Havisham, in both versions of the story, Miss Havisham says, "Look at me. You are not afraid of
a woman who had never seen the sun since you were born?", to which Pip replies that he is not
scared (690). In the novel, Miss Havisham replies to Pip's negation by asking him about the heart,
suggesting that it is "broken", but in the video (690), Miss Havisham just instructs Pip again to move

Writing and Compare-and-contrast Essays
Compare and Contrast
This type of writing assignment is common. On a standardized test, you may be asked to analyze
literature, evaluate ideas, or make a judgment and explain your reasons.
In responding to these types of prompts, you often will compare and contrast characters, concepts,
or choices. You will be asked to identify similarities and differences, which are the key to
compare–and–contrast essays.
There are ways to organize your thoughts about compare–and–contrast topics, which will help you
write thoughtful and balanced essays.
Compare–and–Contrast Essays
First, you will learn how to write a compare–and–contrast essay

Gathering Details
The next step in preparing your compare–and–contrast essay is to gather details, descriptions, and
examples to provide a clear understanding of the subjects being compared. There are several ways to
gather details.
One way is to use your personal experiences. If you are writing about a subject with which you have

We all have friends that are alike or different from each other. My friend Nicole and Amy are also
friends. Both of them are alike in some ways, but at the same time unlike from each other. For
example, they both dress to their comfort, but the clothes they choose to wear are different. They
both have similar taste in music and television shows. However, Nicole and Amy are more
different than alike. Nicole and Amy have different appearance and style. Nicole is five feet and
two inches with medium brown wavy hair that is shoulder length. She has big eyes and also

Nicole is more shy and quiet. Nicole cannot stand watching gory, horror and supernatural movie. For
example, during summer, our friend, Julie, invited Nicole, Amy, and Iwatch Green Inferno. Nicole
did not want to come along due to the fact that when she watched the trailer of that movie she
found it super gory and disgusting. However, Amy did not find that trailer gory and disgusting and

Work experience versus a college education. Which of these two is best in helping you to land a
better paying job? Many college graduates may argue that having an Associate Degree or Bachelor
Degree is an essential key to landing a top paying job. People with work experience and skills argue
theyhave an edge over someone with a degree that has no real–worldwork experience. They believe
this gives them an opportunity for a better paying job.Plus, people with work experience do not have
to deal with the added student debt that comes with acquiring such degrees.
When looking through the help wanted ads in newspapers or in employment agencies, you will see

The Compare/ Contrast Essay
First, let's explain compare and contrast:
When we compare, we show our readers a subject's similarities.
When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences.
Compare and Contrast essays are learning–process essays. You learn about your subject as you
gather and organize information.
This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of
facts, that helps you learn as you go.
You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will
discover insights to your subject that, at first glance, you may not have realized were there.
It's like buying a new shirt. The moment you spread it out on...show more content...
And you will either compare or contrast, not both. Be careful, sometimes going point by point can
make your writing sound tedious and repetitive. Watch your language and transition words. Use
several points at a time.
Ending: As in the argumentative essay, bring it all together. Allow your ending to go back to your
thesis. Use the transitional words on the next page to help your paper's coherence. Transitions and
other connecting words and connecting sentences should be used throughout.
Remember: There are no hard and fast rules as to how many comparisons or contrasts you should
offer. For a thorough look into your subject, you must offer enough comparisons or contrasts or both
to make a valid statement.
Transitional Words (Conjunctival Adverbs)
Use these words to help you connect your thoughts, your sentences, and your paragraphs:

Compare and Contrast Essay By definition; love is a profoundly tender, passionate affection for
another person. Love can be interrupted in many ways. Were we ever taught love or is it just a
natural feeling towards a person? Some say you'll know the meaning of love when you fall in love,
yet some don't believe in love at all.
The sculpture "LOVE" created by Robert Indiana and the sculpture "The Kiss" made by Auguste
Rodin both share some of the same meanings behind the art work (Indianapolis Museum of Art)
(Rodin's The Kiss Sculpture). A major similarity between the two is love; which attracts and speaks

happiness and joy and you have the urge to feel love just by seeing it so large and up front.
"LOVE" has always been placed out in the open demanding attention from a lot of people to see.
"The Kiss" is more of a classic form of art and has been placed in more private areas. Although it has
a distressing grey color "The Kiss" has more depth; the feeling of intimacy is strong and makes a
statement.
There are both similarities and differences in "The Kiss" and "LOVE". The emotion and meaning
behind both are incredible, it shows and understands the meanings of love, lust, joy, and intimacy.
Love can either be spelt out or expressed by action and is what both pieces show. Love can be
interrupted in many ways, but there always has to be a kiss in love.

The principle differences between an employee and independent contractor are an employee is
one who typically supplies his labour exclusively to an employer who supervises and controls the
employee's work directly. This element of 'control' is the traditional way of distinguishing an
employee from an independent contractor. An employer not only tells an employee what to do,
he also tells him how to do it. Unlike an employee, an independent contractor carries out the work
as his own principal, and has to complete the work he has contracted for and cannot terminate his
services without being in breach of the contract.. In Johnson Underwood Ltd v Montgomery
[2001] EWCA Civ 318, it was held that Montgomery was not an employee of the employment
agency Johnson Underwood Ltd because the defendant had no control over her work. Next, an
employee is expected to work at a specific place during specific hours on specific days, sometimes
even flexi–time has core hours. Independent contractor only has a requirement to provide services to
the standard required by the client as agreed in the contract and to complete the project, and any
milestones, according to the contract schedule. Employees have statutory rights to holiday pay, sick
pay, maternity and paternity rights and redundancy payments. Employees are not personally liable

Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training,
however not much practical experience in the classroom and dealing with difficult situations.
"For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their
poor behavior was often the cause of the major low points". In some aspects there is very little
difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to their knowledge in their subject, both
should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both
want to make a difference to their students' life, to teach them to the best of their capability.
However there are differences in how they teach their subject, how they come across to their
students and how they manage their classrooms. More experienced teachers will be more confident
in their approach, more prepared to deal with a variety of learning needs, have made mistakes in the
past and learned from these to better prepare themselves for the future. Generally new teachers lack
the confidence to teach which can only be gained through experience, they need to learn what works
and what does not, reflect on this and incorporate this into their next lesson. New teachers do
however have a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to mould themselves into a confident and
knowledge teacher. In conclusion my insight into the differences and similarities of both the

Marriage; a road to imprisonment
Kate Chopin's "Story of an Hour," and Charlotte Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper," present similar
plots about two wives who have grown to feel imprisoned in their own marriages. "The Yellow
Wallpaper," focuses on a woman who feels so entrapped in her own marriage that she begins to
feel this type of isolation and imprisonment all around her. She begins to feel as though the room,
in which she is being forced to stay in is a prison in itself. "Story of an Hour," has a similar plot of a
woman in an unhappy marriage. This woman however, momentarily escapes her unhappiness when

This represents the same feelings she is having at the time, the feelings of being trapped and
desperate to escape. The differences and similarities in the characterization of this story is also an
important aspect to compare; with Chopin describing her character through reactions and Gillman
describing hers through her actions and conflicts. Chopin describes the main character in "Story
of An Hour," by her reaction to her husband's death, as well as through her speech and gestures.
Her reaction to her husband's death suggests that she is in conflict with herself in regards to the
emotions she is feelings. She feels a new found sense of freedom with her husband gone, but is in
conflict in regards to how she feels about his actual death. Her speech and gestures are also used
to describe her character. She continues to repeat "free," and exits her bedroom in a happy and
joyous manner. This characterization makes her a round and dynamic character in this story, much
like the round and dynamic character in Gilman's writing. Although they are both round and
dynamic, Gilman portrays the main character by her actions as well as her women vs. man
conflict. Every action of the main character in "Yellow Wallpaper," is that of a woman who feels
confined and isolated. She is constantly looking for ways to defy her husband and escape the
confines of the room he has trapped her in. Her feeling of confinement and isolation are the

Dogs claim their territory by urinating on everything; it's a good thing they are trainable. They will
chew on just about anything that fits in their mouth; it takes love and patience to raise a dog. But on a
good note some dogs learn to fetch your slippers when ask for them. The dog is not known for
being independent because they can not be left alone for long periods of time. They require
walking and being let out to relieve themselves a few times a day. When alone they seem sad and
do not play with their toys; unless they are chewing on something. Their lack of complexity allows
the dog to enjoy the out doors like running, pick–nicks, car rides and swimming. They are not moody
and are ready for anything. Dogs on top of being potty trained and fetching slippers they can be

People and cats have certainly had a chequered relationship. Revered by ancient Egyptians then

The process of selecting a university can be frustrating and overwhelming for students especially
when assessing the variables, and searching through the extent of attainable information. Before
choosing a university to attend, students must first consider an online or traditional university. With
the rising costs of education, more students are choosing an online university. "In 2007–08, about 4.3

Not only will students acquire prompt feedback during classes, office hours and meeting times are
easier to arrange. Students also are able to contact professors by e–mail and phone. Students can

and studying for exams. Students have an on campus financial aid advisor as well as academic
counseling; students may have a harder time meeting with financial aid and academic counselors due
to the student/faculty ratio. Whether a student attends an online or traditional university, students

ensure proper guidance along with ample feedback.
Flexibility is a key component when choosing a university. Many students have jobs to help with
cost of living as well as student loans. With an online education, student's work at their own pace as
well as a student's time and place of choice, obtaining and online education is best for students with
families and a full time job. Reading, and writing is a major part of an online education, students
must create a schedule for each class which will help delegate their time properly. Many online
universities have a minimum number of posts required per day or week. All assignments have time
frames; if a student's assignment is late, points will be deducted. Traditional universities are
becoming more flexible with time. Some traditional universities

people, two countries, or how something or someone has changed. When comparing two things, we

The theme of the story "The Lottery" is blind acceptance of something just because it is considered
tradition. In Jackson's "The Lottery", symbols are utilized to help show the theme. The name of the
story, "The Lottery", itself is a symbol. The term lottery can be viewed, by most, as a good thing, a
hope in winning, but winning the lottery takes on a very different, very dark meaning in
Jackson's story. Also, the names of the characters are symbols as well. For example, Graves is a
name that would portray death and Summers is a bright and cheerful name. Also, the name Old
Man Warner would show tradition. Next, is the use of the black box and the black dot on the
paper. The color black is showing darkness, evil, and death. The tradition of the black box is a
symbol, in the fact that it is worn and faded, but still used by the villagers. Shirley Jackson
conveys the theme very clearly through the use of symbols. In the end, the villagers are shown to
be evil and murderous just because of tradition. The villagers do not seem to have a problem with
murdering others within the lottery because it is what they have always done and no one is going to
declare that what they are doing is wrong. This shows the reader that following blindly can have
dangerous consequences. The theme of "Young BrownGoodman" is that the main character is
basing his beliefs and faith on what others in his life believe or have faith in. The theme of "Young
Goodman

My Parents Compare And Contrast Essay
A few of the characters find out that they are alike their parents by many ways. Me and my mom
share a connection just like that. We look alike, we act the same and everyone seems to know
this. At times it is a great connection, others it is not good at all. It plays a big role in our
relationship. A big effect it makes is in arguments. My mom tells me and my sisters about how
she acted when she was younger. She tells me about how responsible she was, when she was
younger. The one thing that she never tells us is that she is sensitive, and very dramatic. I know
that I am dramatic, because one year for valentine's day I got a heart of candy saying drama
queen. My older sister points out that when me and my mom stub our toes we both fall to the
ground and say "owwwwwww" and as my sisters says we make it way bigger deal than we should
have. Another reason is that we cry at any item that is sad like movies, books, stories. Even when
a part is somewhat sad we cry. We are dramatic and sensitive but it can be good ,because then she
can understand when I am upset or sad. It also works the other way around....show more content...
Just like my mom we can be very sassy or have a hot temper. Cassie gets mad when people treat her
worse than the whites. The same goes for my family. When people treat me disrespectfully, I get
mad and I want to tell them otherwise, but I have learned to keep my temper and be nice to them.
Uncle Hammer reminds me of my dad. My dad has the hot temper in our family. That is where I get
my temper. All of my family members get angry when people accuse us of doing what we did not
do. My dad, my mom, and I can either get along very well or we can be mad at each

Compare And Contract Essay

  • 1. Hamlet Compare And Contrast Essay Compare and Contrast Essay Boxes are common inanimate objects that are found in most households. They are used to store objects that are unwanted or to hold gifts for loved ones. The theme of love in Hamlet on the other hand is an intense emotion that can not be found in every relationship. So with all of their differences what makes them alike? Imagine that someone is unpacking boxes and helping a friend move into their new place. They have just completed unwrapping all of the dishes and glassware, but failed to see the newspaper that floated past the trash can and onto the floor behind them. They step backwards and slip on the sheet of newspaper and fall into a box. The box rips, and they land flat on their back. There is an audible gasp...show more content... Even though boxes have multiple uses, according to the article Boxes – Their Importance and Uses :"Boxes are commonly used as storage." (The Green Book, 2012). Boxes are made to contain things, so it would be expected that they would be strong and not easily broken. In some instances the box may become fragile or worn out after being used multiple times. The same applies to the love shown in hamlet. When people first fall in love the emotion is strong and the relationship can last for what feels like forever as shown through Gertrude and King Hamlet's love. This is due to how the "reward system is stimulated through very simple means," so the smallest of touches or "even just thinking about" them can cause an "increase [in] elevated mood" (Fisher 2013). After time passes the butterflies and intensity of emotions dies down and there needs to be more effort put into the relationship to keep it going. This can cause break ups because of how little effort is put into showing the other person that love still exists in the relationship. The longer a relationship lasts the more fragile the connection and love between them gets, so if one person is not giving as much effort as the other because they believe that the other person should do all of the work then the relationship may fail. Through time and use both boxes and love can become so fragile that they may not be able to be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay on Contracts Contracts A contract is formed between two or more parties. In order for a contract to be legally binding there must be offer and acceptance. This simple basis for a contract is not as clear cut as it first appears. In certain circumstances it is often necessary for the two parties to the contract to communicate via post or by other indirect means. This practise gives rise to the problem of whether an acceptance is given when it is posted or when it is received....show more content... telephone or face to face). The postal rule is in place to deal with a problem caused by the circumstance of postal or 'long distance' contractual agreements. The case of Entores Ltd v Miles Far East Corporation[2] is an important case when considering the postal rule and its application. The dictum of Denning L.J suggests two important facts; firstly, a contract made by post is complete as soon as the letter of acceptance is put in the post box. Secondly, the communication of acceptance by means which are "virtually instantaneous" is distinguishable and must "stand on a different footing"[3]. Several examples of circumstances are given by Lord Justice Denning in his ruling. He gives the telex example in which it is clear that if the acceptance is not communicated due to intervening circumstances then it is the duty of the party accepting the offer to ensure that there is acceptance is properly received. Only if A believes his acceptance has been received and it has not, due to a problem at the offeror's end is the offeror bound. It is his own fault and he will be estopped from claiming he did not receive the message. One important point to consider when discussing email communication is the fact that it is often the case that emails are not received instantaneously. It can sometimes be the case that a message sent via email can take hours and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Great Expectations Compare And Contrast Essay Chapter seven also has many similarities and differences between the text and video versions. The first textual scene varies quite differently from that of the movie. The book begins with Mr. Pumblechook and Pip eating breakfast together. Pumblechook quizzes Pip on his times tables, and then the pair makes its way toward Miss Havisham's house, whereas in the video, they are already reached Miss Havisham's. Another difference arises through the dialogue of Pumblechook and Estella upon Pumblechook and Pip's arrival at Miss Havisham's house. When Pip and Pumblechook first encounter Estella, in the novel, the conversation takes place through an opened window, and Pumblechook does not enter the house (689), whereas in the film, Pumblechook and Pip enter through a creaking wooden door, and the young girl...show more content... The difference in lighting probably so that the viewer could more easily see the action of the scene. Miss Havisham's attire, both during her and Pip's initial meeting and throughout the novel, does not vary between the texts. Her white dress and white veil reveal Miss Havisham's history, which characterizes Miss Havisham. When Miss Havisham first speaks to Pip, there is no difference between the two works. Miss Havisham asks "Who is it?", and receives the reply "Pip, ma'am". She then questions "Pip?", to which Pip elaborates "Mr. Pumblechook's boy...Come––to play" (690). Following learning Pip's name, in both the book and the movie, Miss Havisham instructs Pip to "Come nearer; let [her] look at [him]" (690). Once Pip has moved closer to Miss Havisham, in both versions of the story, Miss Havisham says, "Look at me. You are not afraid of a woman who had never seen the sun since you were born?", to which Pip replies that he is not scared (690). In the novel, Miss Havisham replies to Pip's negation by asking him about the heart, suggesting that it is "broken", but in the video (690), Miss Havisham just instructs Pip again to move Get more content on HelpWriting.net

They both have similar taste in music and television shows. However, Nicole and Amy are more different than alike. Nicole and Amy have different appearance and style. Nicole is five feet and two inches with medium brown wavy hair that is shoulder length. She has big eyes and also freckles on her face. Nicole tends to dress very casually. When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences. Compare and Contrast essays are learning–process essays. You learn about your subject as you gather and organize information. This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of facts, that helps you learn as you go. You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will discover insights to your subject that, at first glance, you may not have realized were there. Be careful, sometimes going point by point can make your writing sound tedious and repetitive. Watch your language and transition words. Use several points at a time. Ending: As in the argumentative essay, bring it all together. Allow your ending to go back to your thesis. Use the transitional words on the next page to help your paper's coherence. Transitions and other connecting words and connecting sentences should be used throughout. Remember: There are no hard and fast rules as to how many comparisons or contrasts you should offer. For a thorough look into your subject, you must offer enough comparisons or contrasts or both to make a valid statement. Were we ever taught love or is it just a natural feeling towards a person? Some say you'll know the meaning of love when you fall in love, yet some don't believe in love at all. The sculpture "LOVE" created by Robert Indiana and the sculpture "The Kiss" made by Auguste Rodin both share some of the same meanings behind the art work (Indianapolis Museum of Art) (Rodin's The Kiss Sculpture). A major similarity between the two is love; which attracts and speaks to people all around the world. Although they are spoken in different ways, they both have the idea of making love. This piece is also an abstract form of art and more modern the color is red and has a feeling of happiness and joy and you have the urge to feel love just by seeing it so large and up front. "LOVE" has always been placed out in the open demanding attention from a lot of people to see. "The Kiss" is more of a classic form of art and has been placed in more private areas. Although it has a distressing grey color "The Kiss" has more depth; the feeling of intimacy is strong and makes a statement. There are both similarities and differences in "The Kiss" and "LOVE". The emotion and meaning behind both are incredible, it shows and understands the meanings of love, lust, joy, and intimacy. Love can either be spelt out or expressed by action and is what both pieces show. Love can be interrupted in many ways, but there always has to be a kiss in love. Works Cited 1.) This element of 'control' is the traditional way of distinguishing an employee from an independent contractor. An employer not only tells an employee what to do, he also tells him how to do it. Unlike an employee, an independent contractor carries out the work as his own principal, and has to complete the work he has contracted for and cannot terminate his services without being in breach of the contract.. In Johnson Underwood Ltd v Montgomery [2001] EWCA Civ 318, it was held that Montgomery was not an employee of the employment agency Johnson Underwood Ltd because the defendant had no control over her work. Next, an employee is expected to work at a specific place during specific hours on specific days, sometimes even flexi–time has core hours. Independent contractor only has a requirement to provide services to the standard required by the client as agreed in the contract and to complete the project, and any milestones, according to the contract schedule. All of these are major factors that need to be considered. Public goods are those goods in which all of society benefit from and are equally shared among everyone within. These types of goods can be consumed simultaneously by several individuals without diminishing the value of consumption to any individual. Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training, however not much practical experience in the classroom and dealing with difficult situations. "For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their poor behavior was often the cause of the major low points". In some aspects there is very little difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to their knowledge in their subject, both should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both want to make a difference to their students' life, to teach them to the best of their capability. However there are differences in how they teach their subject, how they come across to their students and how they manage their classrooms. More experienced teachers will be more confident in their approach, more prepared to deal with a variety of learning needs, have made mistakes in the past and learned from these to better prepare themselves for the future. Generally new teachers lack the confidence to teach which can only be gained through experience, they need to learn what works and what does not, reflect on this and incorporate this into their next lesson. New teachers do however have a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to mould themselves into a confident and knowledge teacher. • 15. Compare and Contrast Essay Lauren Ehlers Dr. St. John English 102 March 25, 2011 Marriage; a road to imprisonment Kate Chopin's "Story of an Hour," and Charlotte Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper," present similar plots about two wives who have grown to feel imprisoned in their own marriages. "The Yellow Wallpaper," focuses on a woman who feels so entrapped in her own marriage that she begins to feel this type of isolation and imprisonment all around her. She begins to feel as though the room, in which she is being forced to stay in is a prison in itself. "Story of an Hour," has a similar plot of a woman in an unhappy marriage. This represents the same feelings she is having at the time, the feelings of being trapped and desperate to escape. The differences and similarities in the characterization of this story is also an important aspect to compare; with Chopin describing her character through reactions and Gillman describing hers through her actions and conflicts. Chopin describes the main character in "Story of An Hour," by her reaction to her husband's death, as well as through her speech and gestures. Her reaction to her husband's death suggests that she is in conflict with herself in regards to the emotions she is feelings. She feels a new found sense of freedom with her husband gone, but is in conflict in regards to how she feels about his actual death. Her speech and gestures are also used to describe her character. She continues to repeat "free," and exits her bedroom in a happy and joyous manner. This characterization makes her a round and dynamic character in this story, much like the round and dynamic character in Gilman's writing. Although they are both round and dynamic, Gilman portrays the main character by her actions as well as her women vs. man conflict. Every action of the main character in "Yellow Wallpaper," is that of a woman who feels confined and isolated. She is constantly looking for ways to defy her husband and escape the confines of the room he has trapped her in. Her feeling of confinement and isolation are the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When comparing two things, we focus more on the similarities though we may mention the differences shortly. When contrasting two things, we point out the differences between them. There is a level of fear and underlying evil in Puritan settings in both stories. I. Introduction/Statement of Thesis II. Themes and Author's Purpose A. The Lottery i. The theme of the story "The Lottery" is blind acceptance of something just because it is considered tradition. In Jackson's "The Lottery", symbols are utilized to help show the theme. The name of the story, "The Lottery", itself is a symbol. The term lottery can be viewed, by most, as a good thing, a hope in winning, but winning the lottery takes on a very different, very dark meaning in Jackson's story. Also, the names of the characters are symbols as well. For example, Graves is a name that would portray death and Summers is a bright and cheerful name. Also, the name Old Man Warner would show tradition. Next, is the use of the black box and the black dot on the paper. The color black is showing darkness, evil, and death. The tradition of the black box is a symbol, in the fact that it is worn and faded, but still used by the villagers. Shirley Jackson conveys the theme very clearly through the use of symbols. In the end, the villagers are shown to be evil and murderous just because of tradition. The villagers do not seem to have a problem with murdering others within the lottery because it is what they have always done and no one is going to declare that what they are doing is wrong. This shows the reader that following blindly can have dangerous consequences. The theme of "Young BrownGoodman" is that the main character is basing his beliefs and faith on what others in his life believe or have faith in. We look alike, we act the same and everyone seems to know this. At times it is a great connection, others it is not good at all. It plays a big role in our relationship. A big effect it makes is in arguments. My mom tells me and my sisters about how she acted when she was younger. She tells me about how responsible she was, when she was younger. The one thing that she never tells us is that she is sensitive, and very dramatic. I know that I am dramatic, because one year for valentine's day I got a heart of candy saying drama queen. My older sister points out that when me and my mom stub our toes we both fall to the ground and say "owwwwwww" and as my sisters says we make it way bigger deal than we should have.
