This document describes the author's various identities. She identifies as a daughter, sister, family member, rower who is part of the Otago University and Avon rowing clubs, a traveler who has been to China and Seattle through rowing, a physical education student studying to become an occupational therapist. She also identifies as an independent adult through living in various flats while studying. Her future goals are to become a multisport athlete by competing in long distance races, learning to kayak, and maintaining her identity as a runner.
2. A ROWER!!
This is the Otago University rowing team. I am part of this club during the winter
months from late February to October. I have meet some amazing people and
been able to do some amazing things and travel the world. Over the years rowing
has become part of my occupational identity and I have developed a great since o
belonging.
3. A member of the Avon rowing club. Joining three years ago I
am now a senior at the club. I am part of this club during the
summer months from October to February.
4. A Traveller!!
Through rowing I have the opportunity to travel to
both China and Seattle. These trips have given me a
little taste of what and where I would like to go in the
future.
5. Physical Education Student at Otago University!!!
As a student this is a process of becoming and being. By
the end of my degree I hope to achieve a Bachelor of
physical education majoring in prescription.
6. An Occupational Therapy Student!!! This will hopefully lead towards
a recognised identity as a qualified Occupational Therapists!!!.
7. A Flatmate!! While studying I have lived in
three flats!! This is leading to a recognised identity of
being independent adult.
8. A multisport Athlete!! This not currently an identity I associate
myself with but my future goal and dream is to one day compete in this
race. There are many steps and challenges I must go through before
achieving this recognised identity and having a sense of being within it.
9. A Kayaker!! In my goal to achieve the coast to coast I
must first learn to Kayak. This a part of the process of
becoming a multi sport athlete.
