What is Card Sorting and how can we do it - WIAD 2014

Bio: Elizabeth has an M.S. in Library and Information Science from the School of Library and Information Science at Simmons College. Data Driven Business Lab Feb2019
This document provides an overview of the kick-off for the Minor Data Driven Business Lab (DDBL) and Minor IMS programs. It introduces Dries van den Enden as the minor coordinator for DDBL. The presentation covers the general introduction and qualifications of DDBL, an overview of the week's activities including pitching projects and setting up company game plans, and important dates and the weekly routine. Students will work in companies on various projects, be supported by coaches and experts, and their learning will be assessed over 18 weeks through their efforts and project work.

It is possible for a product to pass quality assurance tests and acceptance testing without being user-friendly. It is also too easy for those of us who build digital products to make assumptions about what our users need. As a design thinker, I strive to bring the authentic voices of complex audiences into the product lifecycle through pragmatic research.
A sound design research process not only shapes digital products to be more usable, it also adds value to drive engagement.
Unicorn invasion: A UX workshop for all levels and stuff!
The first rule of design is "you are not the user." The second rule of design? "You are not the user."
Join us for an afternoon UX-design workshop that turns user research and the iterative design process on its head by combining a little bit of trivia, a little bit of Clue, and a lot of fun. Together, we'll learn about and practice techniques for combining research and research deliverables to create effective user-centered designs. Enhance the way people collaborate with documents in share point
The document summarizes a presentation given by Haaron Gonzalez at the SharePoint Saturday San Diego 2014 event. Card Sorting & Tree Testing Webinar
This webinar discusses how card sorting and tree testing can be used both individually and together to improve website navigation. Card sorting involves having users organize items into categories to understand their mental models. Tree testing evaluates how easy it is for users to locate items within a site's navigation structure. The webinar provides examples of online card sorting and tree testing studies. It demonstrates how card sorting results can be used to define site categories and menus, and how tree testing can then validate the navigation structure. Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.

Join us for an afternoon UX-design workshop that turns user research and the iterative design process on its head by combining a little bit of trivia, a little bit of Clue, and a lot of fun. Together, we'll learn about and practice techniques for combining research and research deliverables to create effective user-centered designs. In doing, we'll cover hot UX topics such as personas, journey maps, user-flows, wireframes, and the sexy mysteries of the UX process.

About JD Jordan and Brandy Porter:
JD is a veteran visual and User Experience designer with experience as a creative director, a design director, and a consultant with some of the biggest agencies and brands in the ATL and beyond. He is an acclaimed author, public speaker, and design educator.
Brandy is a seasoned design leader who has directed award-winning solutions for top consumer brands across all manner of media, devices, and environments. She has taught interaction design at corporate and collegiate levels with a focus on user behavior, intuitive design and critical thinking.

Enhance the way people collaborate with documents in share point
The document summarizes a presentation given by Haaron Gonzalez at the SharePoint Saturday San Diego 2014 event. I introduce the problem solving approach of data analysts/scientists and designers as well as how to combine these approaches. Additionally, I explain how mental models and algorithms, while associated with design and data science, respectively, are similar ways to represent phenomena and questions about them.
Card Sorting & Tree Testing Webinar
This webinar discusses how card sorting and tree testing can be used both individually and together to improve website navigation. Card sorting involves having users organize items into categories to understand their mental models. Tree testing evaluates how easy it is for users to locate items within a site's navigation structure. The webinar provides examples of online card sorting and tree testing studies. It demonstrates how card sorting results can be used to define site categories and menus, and how tree testing can then validate the navigation structure. Combining these methods ensures more reliable site navigation.

Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
