The Struggle Of Finding A Job
Introduction Unemployment The Struggle of Finding a Job Job search is a harsh reality experienced
by many college graduates nowadays. Numerous obstacles, including the tough job market, severely
hinder the future success of a student who is truly determined. The transition from school to the
labor market is extremely alarming to students that they usually end up satisfied with a tedious,
low–paid, labor–intensive and physically demanding job (Bandura, Barbaranelli, Caprara, &
Pastorelli 2001). Working a job that does not require a bachelor's degree completely de–utilizes the
education of students. The first and main problem students' face is their lack of experience when
applying to a job within their field of study. Internships are competitive and hard to acquire but
still it is needed for experience. Practical experience is needed but cannot be achieved if no one is
willing to hire the student. This ongoing cycle of "to get a job, you need experience and to get
experience, you need a job" (Abel, J. R., & Deitz, R. 2014) brings by even bigger issues for the
student. Scholars who go through this process of job rejection and hopelessness often experience
anxiety, insecurity and stress. Emotional distress is an issue that is on an even larger scale of the
struggle of finding a job. Once a student is rejected, they lose confidence and dedication. They start
doubting their sense of self and their capabilities. The uncertainty of our future can lead to more
anxiety and strain

My Career as a Teacher Essay
As I begin my rewarding career as I teacher, I sit and reflect on what my goals and priorities are in
the classroom. I am excited to be engaged in a future career where I can implement my own beliefs
and mold the future into something extremely positive. I believe the most important aspects that I
want to bring to my students are threefold: I want to educate, motivate, and inspire.
In order to have a productive learning environment where I will be able to educate my students,
many different factors must take place. First and foremost, it is important to me that I master
exceptional classroom management skills. Effective and efficient learning takes place when
expectations in the classroom are consistent and clear. Also, discipline in...show more content...
These learning styles include; auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. By mastering and using as many
learning styles as I can, I will make sure each student is able to get the most out of their learning
experience. I understand that every child learns differently and understanding how to use different
approaches in each lesson plan will benefit every student. Not only is it important to use different
learning styles but I will also use different teaching styles during the curriculum. The different
methods I would like to use to teach my lessons include but are not limited to; scientific investigation
which uses the scientific method. The scientific method includes first investigating the problem,
coming up with a logical hypothesis, performing the experiment, reading the results, and finally
completing an analysis of the results. The next method I would explore is decision making which
is the thought process of selecting a logical choice from the available options. Next is problem
solving. When I teach the students to problem solve accurately they be able to overcome obstacles
and find a solution that best resolves the issue. Next, I will help my students think critically which
includes identification and evaluation to problem solving. Finally, I will use the method of
cooperative learning which is an approach to organizing classroom activities into academic and
social learning experience. I believe that every one of these method can be valued

The Career of Engineering Essay
The Career of Engineering
Take a look around yourself. What do you see? Maybe books, chairs, a television, or even your
clothes. All the day to day things that are man–made, you can be sure that an engineer helped make
it. Engineers have shaped our world as we know it. There are many different kinds of engineers from
chemical, mechanical, textile, civil, agricultural and structural engineers. Our civilization would be
as advanced as the Stone Age without these people. This career demands a wide education of math
and science. It is an ever–changing career with new advances in materials and the way products are
produced. Engineering careers are very secure with respect to compensation. Regardless of this, it
does have it's disadvantages...show more content...
(Britannica 243) Another disadvantage of being an engineer is the actual status of being one. It is
not looked upon as highly as other fields such as doctors and lawyers. Most of the time they are
looked upon as nerds. In addition, most engineers are not promoted to high level positions such as
presidents or top executives. They do not have the accounting or business education to do that
particular job. This means that most engineers never get the opportunity to be their own boss. (Basta
22)
The job of an engineer itself is a creative job. The actual definition of an engineer is "The
profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and natural sciences gained by study,
experience and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize the materials and
forces of nature economically for the benefit of mankind." (Bastas 24) In having the basic skills
and experiences in math and science, an engineer is basically an inventor. They are given a
problem and are depended on to come up with a solution. Whether it be a new chemical, a
mechanical part, or even a whole new system such as computer operating program, engineers are the
problem solvers of our materialistic society. (Basta 45)
Many engineers work in laboratories, industrial plants, or construction sites where they inspect,
supervise, or solve onsite problems. (Britannica 244) Engineering itself has a sort of chain of
command in the way a project is handled. It follows in the

Essay about Job Stress
You haven't been at work for more then twenty minutes and already your day is going down hill.
Your phone is ringing off the hook. Papers piled on your desk , and now you have to attend a
meeting. Day after day it is the same thing at your job and you have become highly stressed out.
In my paper I am going to explain why job stress happens and ways that you can relieve it. One type
of stress is job stress. Job stress is when the stressors involved are work related. "NIOSH" the
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health states, job stress is the harmful physical and
emotional responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the capabilities,
resources, or needs of the worker. There are many things in life that...show more content...
If you have a lot of work to do and you feel yourself getting frustrated take a short break. If you take
five to ten minutes and walk around or listen to music this can take away some of your stress. If you
take breaks regularly you are more likely to get as stressed out. Another cause of job related stress is
impending layoffs. Not many people are safe from this because labor in the workforce is not at a
high demand right now. There's not much you can do if you are in jeopardy of being laid off
besides prepare for it. Have your resume ready and constantly try to update it. Also keep your
network a live by asking co–workers about their status and if they have heard anything about
layoffs. This way you can see where the company is making most of its cut backs. It will be easier to
know if you are endanger of being laid off. The only positive to being laid off is if you had been
wanting a career change. If you would like to pursue a different job now would be the time to
attempt to. When you are still working and looking for another job you are not in desperate need
of a job like you are when you are unemployed. The last thing that can create stress at your job is
conflict with a boss or co–workers. It might be hard to put your personality difference aside but,
you have a job to do and you need to make an effort to solve the issues that are going to cause more
stress. A good way to get

Job Experience Essay
Nearly seven years ago, when I started working for the local DirecTV installation company, it
wasn't exactly a dream come true. I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home
theatre installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this
job less than desirable were the hot attics, damp crawlspaces where I wasn't always the only thing
crawling around and the loose eaves near ideal dish mounting locations that were often home to
swarms of hornets.
Less than a week into the job I was offered a promotion of sorts. They needed inspectors to verify
that things were done correctly at several installation locations each week and they wanted someone
who hadn't been around long enough to make...show more content...
The best part of this situation for me was the pay. I was making $12.50 per inspection. That's over
$1500 per week! Despite the great pay, I had been unemployed for nearly a month before starting
this job and because of tool costs to get started hadn't taken home much during my first week as an
installer. The first paycheck I received had an error in it. I was told by my Manager at the Paducah
Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it. I regularly
heard new employees being told, "Call payroll and ask for an advance", not just due to pay errors,
but also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to disaster.
For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the
weekend. I had received one puny paycheck and one nice one, but had spent everything to get
caught up on bills that had accumulated during my unemployment. So, I did what experience and
observation had taught me to do, I called payroll and asked for a relatively small advance to cover
my weekend trip. Without incident a check showed up at the office the next day and my wife and I
were off for a fun weekend with my daughter. It wasn't until late the next week that all hell began to
break loose.
I was on the road somewhere in Southern Illinois when I received an angry call from the district
manager inquiring why I had "bypassed" him and gone

Essay On Applying For A Job
So you have decided to apply for a job; well, it's time to write your resume. It may seem like a lot
of hard work and time but once you've got your mindset and know your own capabilities writing a
resume will be a breeze. The resume helps the employer understand what you have accomplished
so far and why you should be hired for the position you applied for. A resume should consist of
where you had volunteered or played a sport, what transferable skills you could deliver to the
workplace and why you think you should be hired. Volunteering and extracurricular activities are
what makes an employer think that you're an active person in society and in a workplace. Acquiring
volunteer and extracurricular experience will make you stand out...show more content...
Careers are constantly changing within the job market which means applicants have to
constantly develop new skills to meet the requirements of that job. Transferable skills are
essential in anchoring your next career however, you should also consider whether your skills
are compatible with the career you have in mind. Employers always make sure that they hire the
correct person for the position they have open. You have to make sure that you actually want this
job, it's suited to your skills and that you will perform well in the given workspace. Always
include why you think the you're the right candidate for the job; be confident enough to state
your opinion to your employer. Allowing the employer to see how confident your desire is for
this position will make them see how well you will work; they'll want a person that can work
comfortably in that job. Always mention what you could bring to the workplace; how you could
be an asset. Again, mention how your transferable skills can be put to use to benefit the company
that you have applied to work for. Showing the employer how much they could benefit by hiring
you is what will make you a more desirable choice compared to your competitors, this is your
opportunity to show what you're capable of. Always have the confidence to state why you think you
deserve this job and what you have to offer. The job market is a competitive place, volunteering

Essay On Job Opportunities
Employment Opportunities The UCSD Career Center provides many opportunities to develop the
future careers of students, and one of those opportunities is student employment. The Port Triton
Portal is an online collection of all work opportunities for students, including jobs, internships, and
volunteering, including work study, where students can apply for jobs and employers can post job
listings. Although the Port Triton Portal is only accessible by students and potential employers, I
would guess that the jobs that are being offered include both on and off campus jobs, as well as full
time and part time jobs. Since students are still studying while working the jobs, I presume that most
of the job opportunities for students don't...show more content...
Apparently, the biology and natural science programs at UCSD is extremely popular, to the point
where they had to begin to regulate the amount of students that declared those majors, and the
Scripps Institution of Oceanography is something that I would like to attend, given the impacts of
global warming on sea life and the amount of resources that the school has.
Extracurricular Activities UCSD's intercollegiate athletics competes in NCAA Division II in the
California Collegiate Athletic Association conference, and they are the UCSan Diego Tritons. For
their intercollegiate sports, they offer many men's and women's sports, from basketball to fencing to
water polo, and offer the same sports for both men and women for the most part, although men have
golf and baseball, while women have softball. In addition to intercollegiate athletics, UCSD offers
both intramural sports and club sports. Intramural sports are recreational sports that are open to
anyone, and allow athletes to compete in a friendly atmosphere. It costs $7 a quarter to play
intramural sports, but that $7 allows a student to participate in as many intramurals as they desire.
The school offers many different intramural sports, for men, women, and coed, allowing students to
have fun and socialize while playing a sport that they enjoy. Club sports is another form of
intercollegiate athletics, but it isn't on the same competitive scale as NCAA athletics, and allows

Employment Opportunities The Career and Internship Center at UW provides students with the
opportunity to gain a job, especially through their HuskyJobs system, a database that tells students
any job openings or internships all over campus. The jobs with the most availability on campus are
in the library, housing and food services, department of recreational sports, the university bookstore,
and the UW foundation – student calling system. However, some of the academic apartments also
offer internships to students, and those positions are very competitive since it gives a boost to one's

They have rowing, golf, cross country, and beach volleyball, just to name a few of the sports that
are available at the school. Currently, their football team is doing pretty well, as they are seeded
in the top 25 of Division I football and are in the hunt to go to the BCS playoffs. In addition to
intercollegiate sports, UW also offers intramural sports and club sports. For their intramural
sports, they offer everything from basketball to softball to soccer, but one thing that did catch my
eye was that they have a 6 feet and under intramural basketball league, which is something I had
never seen before. For their club sports, they are student led organizations that compete against
other colleges. They club sports that they offer are sports that are in demand by the students, and
not all of the common, classic sports are available as club sports. For example, they don't offer
basketball as a club sport, nor softball, but they do offer water polo, ice hockey, and kayaking,
which must be sports that have a large enough student backing in order to be club sports. Club
sports are competitive, as they do compete against other colleges, so I don't think I am good enough
to play a club sport, but I would definitely like to get involved in intramural sports when I go to
college, since they sounds fun and a good way to socialize. Greek Life at UW is relatively popular,
as there are over 30

Benefits Of A Good Job Essay
Many people fail to see that skills fade, but assets are forever. They don 't know their entire
financial education in their lives is completely WRONG! Too many people believe that a good
job, good skills, and a positive attitude will make them great wealth. The problem is that it just
doesn 't work that way. People who make an hourly wage and an annual salary cannot build
wealth. This is because their money doesn 't work for them, and instead they work for their
money. This idea keeps them from understanding that the only way to build wealth is to invest in
multiple sources of income that you don 't have to work for, but instead build yourself or
purchase from someone else. Another misconception of multiple sources of income and passive
income is that people assume government and financial institutions offerings such as the stock
market, CD 's, and many other financial instruments are passive income. Most of the time
however, unless it is a note or bond that pays you regular interest. It is not actually passive income
or a stream of income. As a stream of income or passive income is income that you make every
day, every month, and every year continuously as cashflow. Stocks and the like only make you
money on the sale and never anything in the meantime. Meaning they don 't ever actually cashflow.
For example, it is the same as purchasing a piece of fine art and hoping that it appreciates the longer
you hold onto it. Which is risky and locks your money up from better

Job Skills Essay
Laura G. Thompson Angie Miller English IV November 6th, 2014 Important Job Skills There are
several different skills that are important to have to have no matter what the job you are in search of
or already have. Employers have told us for quite sometime now what they expect out usНѕ and I'm
going to talk about the most basic ones everyone should have, including: confidence in themselves
and their work, excellent communication skills, flexibility, adaptability and being reliable. Everyone
is drawn to confidenceНѕ it's a proven fact. Although, you also want to make sure you're still able to
accept positive feedback and apply the lessons learned. Employers want you to be confident in your

Flexibility leads to being a reliable and responsibility. You want to be a able to rely and trust other
employees to do what they need to do, so you can do what you need to do. In order to be reliable
you need accomplish tasks in a timely manner and stick with dues datesНѕ finish projects ahead of
time for bonus points, which will also take some stress off you. You should show up when you're
scheduled and even a few minutes early. Make sure to take responsibilityНѕ complete any work on
time and make it to work in a timely manner at all costs. If you do ever need time off make sure
you schedule it way in advance and call whenever an emergency pops up. Lastly, take responsibility
when you're to blameНѕ you'll always be better off in doing so. Finally, adaptability. You need to be
able to adapt and work around any given problemНѕ which means you need to be able to be
resourceful and have excellent problem solving skills. To be adaptable would also include efficiently
completing your work under stress, new environments, new coВworkers and with limited resources.
These are some of the top skills I have found to be most important to employers that everyone
should have. Now you can check what you need to work onНѕ unless you already have all these

(Bastas 24) In having the basic skills and experiences in math and science, an engineer is basically an inventor. They are given a problem and are depended on to come up with a solution. Whether it be a new chemical, a mechanical part, or even a whole new system such as computer operating program, engineers are the problem solvers of our materialistic society. (Basta 45) Many engineers work in laboratories, industrial plants, or construction sites where they inspect, supervise, or solve onsite problems. • 4. Essay about Job Stress You haven't been at work for more then twenty minutes and already your day is going down hill. Your phone is ringing off the hook. Papers piled on your desk , and now you have to attend a meeting. Day after day it is the same thing at your job and you have become highly stressed out. In my paper I am going to explain why job stress happens and ways that you can relieve it. One type of stress is job stress. Job stress is when the stressors involved are work related. "NIOSH" the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health states, job stress is the harmful physical and emotional responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker. There are many things in life that...show more content... If you have a lot of work to do and you feel yourself getting frustrated take a short break. If you take five to ten minutes and walk around or listen to music this can take away some of your stress. If you take breaks regularly you are more likely to get as stressed out. Another cause of job related stress is impending layoffs. Not many people are safe from this because labor in the workforce is not at a high demand right now. There's not much you can do if you are in jeopardy of being laid off besides prepare for it. Have your resume ready and constantly try to update it. Also keep your network a live by asking co–workers about their status and if they have heard anything about layoffs. This way you can see where the company is making most of its cut backs. It will be easier to know if you are endanger of being laid off. The only positive to being laid off is if you had been wanting a career change. If you would like to pursue a different job now would be the time to attempt to. When you are still working and looking for another job you are not in desperate need of a job like you are when you are unemployed. The last thing that can create stress at your job is conflict with a boss or co–workers. It might be hard to put your personality difference aside but, you have a job to do and you need to make an effort to solve the issues that are going to cause more stress. • 5. Job Experience Essay Nearly seven years ago, when I started working for the local DirecTV installation company, it wasn't exactly a dream come true. I had the aptitude for it, having worked previously as a home theatre installer back in Kansas City, but this job was much easier by comparison. What made this job less than desirable were the hot attics, damp crawlspaces where I wasn't always the only thing crawling around and the loose eaves near ideal dish mounting locations that were often home to swarms of hornets. Less than a week into the job I was offered a promotion of sorts. They needed inspectors to verify that things were done correctly at several installation locations each week and they wanted someone who hadn't been around long enough to make...show more content... The best part of this situation for me was the pay. I was making $12.50 per inspection. That's over $1500 per week! Despite the great pay, I had been unemployed for nearly a month before starting this job and because of tool costs to get started hadn't taken home much during my first week as an installer. The first paycheck I received had an error in it. I was told by my Manager at the Paducah Office to call the corporate office and talk to payroll directly and they would handle it. I regularly heard new employees being told, "Call payroll and ask for an advance", not just due to pay errors, but also to cover the startup costs of tools and ladders. This advice would soon lead to disaster. For the first time in several months I was going to Atlanta, Georgia to visit my daughter for the weekend. I had received one puny paycheck and one nice one, but had spent everything to get caught up on bills that had accumulated during my unemployment. So, I did what experience and observation had taught me to do, I called payroll and asked for a relatively small advance to cover my weekend trip. Without incident a check showed up at the office the next day and my wife and I were off for a fun weekend with my daughter. It wasn't until late the next week that all hell began to break loose. I was on the road somewhere in Southern Illinois when I received an angry call from the district manager inquiring why I had "bypassed" him and gone Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Essay On Job Opportunities Employment Opportunities The UCSD Career Center provides many opportunities to develop the future careers of students, and one of those opportunities is student employment. The Port Triton Portal is an online collection of all work opportunities for students, including jobs, internships, and volunteering, including work study, where students can apply for jobs and employers can post job listings. Although the Port Triton Portal is only accessible by students and potential employers, I would guess that the jobs that are being offered include both on and off campus jobs, as well as full time and part time jobs. Since students are still studying while working the jobs, I presume that most of the job opportunities for students don't...show more content... Extracurricular Activities UCSD's intercollegiate athletics competes in NCAA Division II in the California Collegiate Athletic Association conference, and they are the UCSan Diego Tritons. For their intercollegiate sports, they offer many men's and women's sports, from basketball to fencing to water polo, and offer the same sports for both men and women for the most part, although men have golf and baseball, while women have softball. In addition to intercollegiate athletics, UCSD offers both intramural sports and club sports. Intramural sports are recreational sports that are open to anyone, and allow athletes to compete in a friendly atmosphere. It costs $7 a quarter to play intramural sports, but that $7 allows a student to participate in as many intramurals as they desire. The school offers many different intramural sports, for men, women, and coed, allowing students to have fun and socialize while playing a sport that they enjoy. Club sports is another form of intercollegiate athletics, but it isn't on the same competitive scale as NCAA athletics, and allows Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In addition to intercollegiate sports, UW also offers intramural sports and club sports. For their intramural sports, they offer everything from basketball to softball to soccer, but one thing that did catch my eye was that they have a 6 feet and under intramural basketball league, which is something I had never seen before. For their club sports, they are student led organizations that compete against other colleges. They club sports that they offer are sports that are in demand by the students, and not all of the common, classic sports are available as club sports. For example, they don't offer basketball as a club sport, nor softball, but they do offer water polo, ice hockey, and kayaking, which must be sports that have a large enough student backing in order to be club sports. Club sports are competitive, as they do compete against other colleges, so I don't think I am good enough to play a club sport, but I would definitely like to get involved in intramural sports when I go to college, since they sounds fun and a good way to socialize. • 9. Benefits Of A Good Job Essay Many people fail to see that skills fade, but assets are forever. They don 't know their entire financial education in their lives is completely WRONG! Too many people believe that a good job, good skills, and a positive attitude will make them great wealth. The problem is that it just doesn 't work that way. People who make an hourly wage and an annual salary cannot build wealth. This is because their money doesn 't work for them, and instead they work for their money. This idea keeps them from understanding that the only way to build wealth is to invest in multiple sources of income that you don 't have to work for, but instead build yourself or purchase from someone else. Another misconception of multiple sources of income and passive income is that people assume government and financial institutions offerings such as the stock market, CD 's, and many other financial instruments are passive income. Most of the time however, unless it is a note or bond that pays you regular interest. It is not actually passive income or a stream of income. As a stream of income or passive income is income that you make every day, every month, and every year continuously as cashflow. Stocks and the like only make you money on the sale and never anything in the meantime. Meaning they don 't ever actually cashflow. For example, it is the same as purchasing a piece of fine art and hoping that it appreciates the longer you hold onto it. Which is risky and locks your money up from better Get more content on HelpWriting.net
