14. Expedition Equipment. Below is a list of equipment you should take an Expedition . _ Rucksack 50 - 60 litre with frame (max.). This can be provided by the school . _ Sleeping bag, sealed in strong bin liner. . _ Rollmat. . _ Tent. (per sleeping group) This will be provided by the school . _ Survival Bag. These will be provided by the school . _ First aid kit: (triangular bandage/tape/safety pins/personal medicine/antiseptic). . _ Water bottles (2x1litre). . _ Spare plastic bags. .-_ Rubbish Bags . _ Cooking stove (per camping group) This will be provided by the school ._ Fuel bottle (per camping group) This will be provided by the school . _ Spoon, Knife & Fork. . _ Mug. . _ Bowl/Plates. . _ Wash-up kit. . _ Food (details to follow). . _ Whistle. . _ Torch, including spare bulb and batteries. . _ Emergency rations such as chocolate (200g, must be shown at the end of an expedition).

21. Personal emergency equipment Expedition teams should carry all their equipment and food to enable them to operate in a self-sufficient way. However, there may be some cases when a participant has special needs or circumstances that make it inappropriate for them to carry full camping and cooking equipment and it cannot be carried by the rest of the team. In these cases only, some items may be deposited at the camp sites or agreed check points. The award borrowed from the Moray Badge, instituted at Gordonstoun School by its headmaster, Kurt Hahn, in 1934, and the County Badge adopted in Moray in 1941. The first Gold Awards were made in 1958, when a parallel scheme "for Girls" was piloted, and the charity was established in 1959. A combined scheme for "Young People" aged 14 to 21 was launched in 1969, and extended to those up to 25 in 1980.[1]
