We are located at the Waysmeet Center at 15 Mill Road in beautiful downtown Durham, NH, right across from UNH. We are committed to the spiritual growth and development of every person in our community, be they students, faculty, staff, administrators, family members and friends in the community.
The United Campus Ministry is committed to several principles and ministries: A ministry committed to the teachings and model of Jesus Christ. A ministry of inclusivity and openness. A ministry of hospitality, where all people are welcome and treated with respect, dignity and love. A ministry of justice and peace in every community in every nation in the world. A ministry of service to the community and the world. A ministry that encourages ecumenical and inter-faith dialogue, interaction and shared ministries where possible. A ministry of joy and laughter, humor and celebration. A ministry that celebrates and affirms our Christian tradition and witness, and is open to the myriad ways that God's Holy Spirit works in our ministry and lives.
The United Campus Ministry accomplishes its mission in several ways: Through interaction and dialogue with other Christian and Non-Christian groups, organizations and individuals. Acting as a spiritual resource and center for the UNH community, working in partnership with various groups, departments and organizations at UNH and the community. Through a residential community of students who live at the Waysmeet Center located at 15 Mill Road. Through the Waysmeet Center, which provides a location for our programs and services, and serves as a gathering and resting-place for members of the UNH community. Through direct engagement and outreach to the UNH community Through our ministries of hospitality, inclusivity, justice and love.

Food Basket Project A Tri-Annual Thanksgiving-Nov Winter/Holiday Season-December Spring/Earth Day-April) Partnership between the Waysmeet Center (Campus Ministry), Cornucopia Food Pantry, and Office of Community Service and Learning This year the Spring Food Basket Days are April 28th and 29th
So What’s UP An evening with CRAIG WERTH, BEN WERTH AND LUCIA NAZZARO to benefit WAYSMEET CENTER (United Campus Ministry) Friday April 30 at the Community Church of Durham 17 Main st. Durham from 6-9PM Desserts, entertainment, silent auction, $10 suggested donation Note:We'll need to talk about the silent auction to see if we want to include it or not.   I like the suggestion of inlcuding checks payable to UCM on the flyer.
From the TNH The Center has already been granted $10,000 from the United Way to help cover costs, but that is not nearly minimum amount needed to fulfill the required state remediation plan from CYN. According to Brickner-Wood, the remediation itself will cost $70,000, depending on how many days the process takes, and will likely cause $10,000 to $15,000 in damages. On top of these expenses, the Center has a leftover bill from the first round of regional testing back in December of an estimated $20,000 and has lost over $5,000 in income from services unable to operate as well or as efficiently without the Center. It is estimated by Brickner-Wood that the Center’s total expenses for the entire remediation process will exceed $100,000, which is about the annual budget of the Center.
From the TNH Because six trace samples of gastrointestinal anthrax were found on the first floor of the Center in December, every room in that area must be soaked in a bleach-like solution containing water and vinegar, among other ingredients. While some items can be saved, according to Brickner-Wood, the furniture, books, student paintings and the piano probably will not make it through the process. “The hardest part of the process for me personally is losing the artwork from former and present students because those pieces have sentimental value,” said Brickner-Wood. “We can’t wait to get back in there because it’s such a great place,” said Brady. “It’s unfortunate that one bad thing that happened gets more attention than all the good things we do.” The actual remediation will last from 10 to 14 days, while the final approval needed from the state for the chosen plan and post testing will take two weeks. Goeller, who has been with the Center for 12 years, hopes to be back at Waysmeet by the end of spring break.“I used to see the residents everyday and many students would wander into the Waysmeet Center],” said Goeller. “It’s [the temporary office] not the same atmosphere as the Center.”
