2. My First Day
The first day was a wake up call for me because I learnt I will not be
getting anything from doing nothing, and should stop blaming the rest of
the world for what I have experienced - no one can just hand things to me,
I have to go and get it my self.!
One of the advice I took from Mr Henry is that I should always have a plan;
make sure I know where I want to go, and to know what I want from life.

SUCCESSFUL 1. Don't let someone who gave up on their
dreams, talk you out of yours.
3. Motivational Map
I found my results from the Motivational Map was uncanny because of how accurate it
was about me as a person. For example, I want to do valuable and important things, I
would never do anything that was a waste of time. The Motivational Map also made me
realise that I do have what it takes to succeed in life but I was holding back, as if I was
scared of failing. I had it in my head that it’s better to not have tried than to try and fail,
but I know now that isn't true. The good thing about my results was “…seeks to be
original, identifies with new creative ability” . The flip side is that I don't do things I
don't like and I get bored really quickly.

5. Maya Angelou
4. Strength doesn't come from things you can
do it comes from overcoming things you once
couldn't.
Maya Angelou, born Marguerite Ann Johnson; April 4, 1928 is an American
author and poet. She has published seven autobiographies, five books of essays,
and several books of poetry, and is credited with a list of plays, movies, and
television shows spanning more than fifty years. She has received dozens of
awards and over thirty honorary doctoral degrees. Angelou is best known for her
series of autobiographies, which focus on her childhood and early adult
experiences. The first, “ I know why the caged birds sing” (1969), tells of her life
up to the age of seventeen, and brought her international recognition and
acclaim.

6. Maya Angelou- affirmation
Affirmation
I categorically refuse to allow the negativity of others to define me
I wholeheartedly reject all attempts to fashion me after the limitation
Of small parochial minds
Today is the day I RISE!
No more listening to why I can't go there!
No more accepting that I don’t belong here
I will not be put off or put out or put down
Not now I know I was born to be crowned
No more waiting for others to initiate and validate, making me late for destiny
Today is the day I RISE!
No more time to waste repeatedly climbing out of the mire
Of disappointment and unfulfilled dreams,
Only to be knocked back and told ‘No Entry – Reserved for the Gentry!’
With both hands I reach for the lifeline – that perfect belief
That I am and I can...
I pull myself up, I stand...I walk...I run...I leap
Momentum builds as I respond boldly to providence
The prize ahead the view I firmly keep believing the future is mine
I will not falter, I will not wane I will not murmur or complain
For I have been released from lies Behind me insecurity withers; it dies
All eyes, all EYES, ALL EYES on me for
TODAY IS THE DAY I RISE!
I love this poem
because it
motivated me to
be a better me,
to open up, to
inspire and to be
inspired , but
most of all not
to be LAZY. I
realise I take
advantage of
things I have
and other
people would
kill to have it
e.g. Education .
7. Activities we did
• Personal Creative Development: I was really exited about this activity because I
love drawing, but when we had to be blind folded I felt uncomfortable and
claustrophobic and wanted to get out of the situation quick. I had felt the same
with the boxing and training class – they were out of my comfort zone and not
something I would do in my spare time. I think that's because I don't like doing
something I am not good at.
• I liked the money game because it helped me with maths, but as Mr Henry said I
like to stay safe and don’t do anything I don’t have to.
• I enjoyed creating my ‘About Me’ card because I got to talk about me, plus it made
me start thinking about how I am as a person and had to sell my self and say why I
believe I would be a good person to employ, e.g. I speak four languages.
• Black History: I knew a bit but not much which was embarrassing. However, I do
have people I idolize for what they did for the black people e.g. Nelson Mandela,
Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali.
8. 12 Pillars of Success
The ones I liked most…..
1. Personal Development
• Changing what we do to create better outcomes.
• Why not choose to be like a tree and reach for the stars.
2. Live a life of health
• Total wellbeing balance between Mind, Body and Spirit.
• Body… being made up of all your physical parts
• Mind… will, emotions (intellect)
• Spirit…your belief system
• Take time out to exercise all three areas whether that means you start taking walks, read
books and reconnect with your faith values.
3. The gift of relationships
• Compare your relationships to that of a garden, in order for it to look it’s best you have to
maintain it regularly, do this and it will produce the best fruit.
4. Achieve your goals
• One of the great things about writing down your goals is that it makes you complete each
task. Allow your goals to create a better you.
5. Proper use of time
• We all know that there are 24 hours in a day however if we choose to spend our time on
things that do not bring us closer to our goals then it’s time wasted.
6. Surround yourself with the best people
• Associate and be around successful people who share your views.
9. 7. Be a lifelong learner
• Never stop acquiring knowledge always be prepared to reflect on your own life
be aware of what worked and what did not work.
8. All of life is sales
• Be a person of strong character, increase in skill and you will always be
growing in your influence.
9. Income seldom exceeds personal development
• You have to love what you become not just love the money.
10. Communication is the foundation of people working together
• One of the keys to becoming a good listener, is to not be waiting for an
opportunity to jump into the conversation but to attempt to see and hear
where the other person is coming from.
11. Leadership
• Be bold but not a bully.
• Be thoughtful but not lazy.
• Be humble but not timid.
• Be proud but not arrogant.
• Have humour but without folly.
12. Leave a legacy
• Live a life that serves as an example as what an exceptional life can look like.
10. Bill Gates
11 things they don't teach at school
Rule 1: Life is not fair – get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish
something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-
president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for
burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parent’s fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn
from them.
11. • Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are
now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and
listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before
you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation
try delousing the closet in your own room.
• Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life
HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll
give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This
doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
• Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and
very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do
that on your own time…
• Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to
leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
• Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.
12. Proper planning prevents
poor performance...
I am even more passionate about my dream to
become a designer because I know it’s possible

5. The price of inaction is far greater the cost
of making a mistake. Live a life that serves as
13. Clothes designs
“You can have
anything you
want if you want
it with an
exuberance that
erupts through
the skin and joins
the energy that
created the

Sheila Graham
6. Say yes now, then figure the how later.
14. My overall experience
When I started the course, I thought I had everything planned and knew what
was coming, but as it turns out I had no clue - it was as if I was living in my
own world. I realised I didn’t really have a plan. I don’t like doing anything
that makes me look like a fool; I had no confidence in my self yet took my self
too seriously. At the end of the course I started to become more confident in
my self and was proud of my work instead of hiding it…I wanted to show the
whole wide world.
I would like to thank you, Mr Henry, for everything you have done for me and
I will try my best to make sure all your help and time wasn't for nothing.
