North South University (NSU) was established in 1992 as the first private university in Bangladesh by the Foundation for Promotion of Education and Research (FPER), a non-profit organization comprised of industrialists, educators, philanthropists, and civil servants. The FPER, later renamed the North South Foundation, had a dream in the early 1990s to set up a world-class private university and through their dedication and hard work, received approval to establish NSU as a center of excellence in higher education.
