Betty was a teacher for many years. Was thought of as ‘Miss Mamie’s Pet’. Died December 12, 2008. Betty Jo Bangs Witt, 71 Class of 1955 She was born in Klondike on January 13, 1937 to the late Louis Monroe Bangs and Pauline Ellis Bangs. Passed away on January 7, 2009.
4. Nedra McKeehen (Haney), 54 Class of 1973 Went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2009. Hazel Pierce (Duckworth), 84 Class of 1943 After suffering injuries from a car accident Hazel went to be with our Lord & Savior on October 13, 2008.
5. Joyce Galaway (Works), 81 Class of 1944 She was a very special wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was born on December 16, 1926 in Burbank, CA. Died on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Veoma McClung Selby, 73 Class of 1951 President of her BOH Freshman class.
6. Edna Mae Davis (Evans), 87 Class of 1939 Born in Ranger, Texas , on May 17, 1922. Passed from her earthly life on July 25, 2009. Claudia Hurt (Riggins), 58 Class of 1969 [left in 1966] She was in the banking business for over 30 years. Claudia and her banking friends helped those less fortunate pay their bills. Went to the Lord on July 2, 2009.
7. M rs. R obert C ooke B uckner, 99 Born Sara Frances Gregory on Feb. 10, 1910, in Tallahassee, Florida of Annie Rooney Smith & Harbert Lee Gregory. Ran the home for 3 years while Col. B uckner participated in World War II. Passed away on August 10, 2009. Nettie Jo Woods McLeod, 72 Class of 1956 She served the community as a volunteer civic, social and church organizations while working in healthcare. Born April 9, 1937. Passed away on July 29, 2009.
8. “ Bro Bill” E thridge [Pastor], 92 Now with our Lord at 92 in San Antonio, Texas. Bro Ethridge was our pastor during the 50s and 60s. L eland T. “Corky” C utshall, 76 Class of 1950 Art Editor of the Buckner Hornet. Died September 29, 2008.
9. James William Graves, 74 Class of 52 May 11, 1935 to March 18, 2009 Final Resting place: Dallas/Ft worth National Cemetery March 30, 2009. Played football for the Buckner Hornets, kicking bare footed. Rev. Jack Meredith Morrill, 87 He was a Math & History teacher 1954-1966. Born in Waco, Texas on Dec. 29, 1921. Died May 14, 2009.
10. Chester Longacre, 87 Class of 1939 Played for the 1938 Buckner Hornet District Champs. C hester was born M arch 1, 1921, to John and Nannie Longacre in Tyler. Passed away Dec. 14, 2008. Don Wallace, 68 Class of 1959 Fullback for the Buckner Hornets. Born on 5 May 1940 in Malakoff to Roy and Katy Lucile Wallace. Died on June 28, 2009.
11. Don “Speedy” Holland, 70 Class of 1958 President of two banks in the area. Lineman on the Football team. Don gave credit to the Home for how he lived the rest of his life, believing in hard work, commitment and integrity. Died June 29, 2009. Dr. Charles Ridge, 83 Class 1948 [left in 1944] He was a General Practitioner & had 16 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. Passed away June 4, 2009.
12. Ralph McLeod, 80 Class 1946 [left in 1944] Ralph lived at Buckner 1932-44. Co-Capt LSU FB in 1952. Died January 17, 2009 Sam Hime, 54 Class 1973 He graduated from UT-Tyler and was a Federal Welding Inspector. Died 9-16-2008
