Be open about your own strengths and limitations with technology and invite students to help you. Explore technologies students are using outside of class and find ways to incorporate them into your teaching. Use a wiki to develop a multimodal reader's guide to a class text. Include a broad variety of media and genres in class texts. Ask students to create a podcast to share with an authentic audience. The students described the activity as “cool,” and she is excited that she can integrate technology into reading class. She mentioned that she noticed an improvement in the reading grade level for her students, and she plans to continue using voice recording to improve reading fluency in her classes (Mossers, 2010).
