Cantopop (Chinese: 粵 語 流 行 音 樂 ) is a contraction of
"Cantonese popular music". It is sometimes referred to as
HK-pop, short for "Hong Kong popular music". The term
"Cantopop" has its origin in "Cantorock", a term first used in
1974 to describe rock music in Hong Kong by Billboard
correspondent Hans Ebert. Later in 1978 Ebert revised the
term to "Cantopop" after noting a change in its style to
something similar to British-American soft-rock. It now
describes a contemporary category of popular music made
primarily in Hong Kong in the Cantonese language since
the 1970s, and the cultural context of its production and
consumption.

音樂作品新嘗試

邁進2010年，多位歌手推出以新主題及新曲風的唱片，對於粵語流行音樂市場
是一種新的突破和嘗試。其中，樂壇天后鄭秀文復出後的首張專輯大碟大膽地打
破以往的情歌以及電子舞曲路線，改以流行福音歌曲作為主題，為香港樂壇史上
少有的並且是最成功和暢銷的福音專輯，成功為福音唱片於香港及亞洲的主流音
樂市場開創了先河。同年亦有把福音、爵士、發燒音樂成功揉合的鍾氏兄弟推出
了《鐘聲》大碟，成為其中一張銷量最高的唱片，為獨立製作的異數。張學友亦
推出了爵士樂唱片，打破了現行模式下粵語流行音樂的單一性。古巨基推出了一
張以非情歌為主的專輯大碟《時代》，羅列出了十種現今社會現象，道盡香港人
心聲，成功獲得樂迷極大的迴響及成為2010年最暢銷唱片之一。唱作歌手王菀
之配合其出演的音樂劇《柯迪夫》推出了香港樂壇較為少見的富有音樂劇特色的
專輯。張繼聰推出了《5+》與周國賢推出了《This Is Not The End》等專輯以
新紀元運動思想為主題，為香港樂壇及香港文化帶來不少衝擊。

進軍台灣樂壇

2010年，女歌手何韻詩、鄧紫棋、謝安琪先後推出國語專輯進軍台灣樂壇，其
中鄧紫棋收效可觀，而何韻詩主打文藝路線的專輯《無名。詩》成績則最為突
出，成功將台灣變為其音樂事業的第二市場，其後更成為鮮有入圍台灣金曲獎最
