Projective Tests in a
Socio-Psychological
Study: Experiences from a
Davaonon Muslim

2. Objectives of the Study
~ to get a sociological pictures of the barrio
~ modal description of the 35 family heads of
the Davaonon Muslims using three projective
tests
~the use of Projective tests was an exploratory
action
~ were the result of the afterthought and
curiosity of the researchers.
3. Significance of the Study
The study tried to establish
consistency with the findings of
the socio-anthropological
impressions gathered from the field
with the field study.
4. Locale and Subjects of the Study
Sirawan, oldest barrio, which was
composed of 250 families then. The
inhabitants were Joloanos, pure
Maguindanaons, Maranaos and other
Davaoenos.
The 35 family heads (aged 27-55)
belong to the original Davaonon fishermen.
The study was conducted in September 1979.

Participant observation
techniques (informal conversations
evolved into Structured interviews)
Whole-day visits during the early part
of the year for the interviews while
tests were conducted in the late
mornings and early afternoons
7. Limitations & Observations
on the Research
The researchers found no problem
with the PTAT and the Sack’s
Sentence Completion Test
But found mild problem with the
interpretation of the Rorschach since
most of the field researchers were not
trained in the interpretation of the
Rorschach.
