2. The pluperfect is used to refer to an event or
action that had taken place before another
event in the past.
The pluperfect is a compound tense, like the
perfect tense made up of the auxiliary in the
imperfect tense (être being used for MRS
VANDERTRAMP and reflexive verbs) and the
past participle.
