2. Objective
• Implement Web-based electronic portfolios
for second-year advertising students in the
Creative Communications program at Red
River College in Winnipeg
KENTON LARSEN 2
3. Rationale: Why?
• Macro level: improve the class in general by integrating
technology
• Micro level: students will be better prepared and motivated to
look for work at the end of their education
• Advertising is the perfect subject matter for this:
• It rewards visual thinking, creative conception, and big-idea
generation
• Advertisers are interested in being at the forefront of
technology as their jobs demand it

4. Rationale: When?
• Implement an e-portfolio assignment at the beginning of second
year
• Encourage students to regularly update their creative work for
review by their instructor throughout the school year in
preparation for graduation and employment
“A webfolio system used extensively throughout all levels of education supports
continuous curriculum improvement, allowing all educators to share teaching and learning
strategies, learning resources, and assignments with their colleagues. A Web-based
system organizes a student’s work and presents it in a student webfolio, displaying not
only the artifacts but also the associated assignments and activities
