Steward Leadership
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful
servant! You have been faithful with a few things;
I will put you in charge of many things. Come and
share your master’s happiness!’”
—Matthew 25:23
Practice steward leadership. Use the resources wisely. Remember
that God owns it all and He will reward those that use His
resources to their maximum capability. Be ready to give an answer
for all of your decisions. Seek to hear the words “well done.”
Stewardship is always better than ownership. Ownership requires
responsibility for everything, while stewardship inspires recognition that God
owns all things. Steward leaders are only responsible for doing their best with
what is under their care, but they are not required to make every decision, carry
every burden, or know every detail of every aspect of the business.
It is essential to clarify what the shift from ownership to stewardship looks
like. Business ownership is easy to identify; every decision and action stems
from what the Owner thinks and feels. Stewardship, on the other hand, is a
shift to making decisions based on the ideas and concepts that one day every
person will have to give an account of all their decisions and actions before
the One who truly owns the business. Moving from ownership to stewardship
includes several crucial steps.
It is easy for the Christian CEO to ignore the Owner’s wishes and not engage
every employee of the business. The only thing in your business that will last
for eternity is the souls of the people who work in your business. Therefore, the
Owner of the business is calling every steward leader to engage every person in
the business for kingdom purposes.

You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’” —Matthew 25:23 Practice steward leadership. Use the resources wisely. Remember that God owns it all and He will reward those that use His resources to their maximum capability. Be ready to give an answer for all of your decisions. Seek to hear the words “well done.” Stewardship is always better than ownership. Ownership requires responsibility for everything, while stewardship inspires recognition that God owns all things. Steward leaders are only responsible for doing their best with what is under their care, but they are not required to make every decision, carry every burden, or know every detail of every aspect of the business. It is essential to clarify what the shift from ownership to stewardship looks like. Business ownership is easy to identify; every decision and action stems from what the Owner thinks and feels. Stewardship, on the other hand, is a shift to making decisions based on the ideas and concepts that one day every person will have to give an account of all their decisions and actions before the One who truly owns the business. Moving from ownership to stewardship includes several crucial steps. It is easy for the Christian CEO to ignore the Owner’s wishes and not engage every employee of the business. The only thing in your business that will last for eternity is the souls of the people who work in your business. Therefore, the Owner of the business is calling every steward leader to engage every person in the business for kingdom purposes. Experience Question: How often do you say the words “Well Done” to your team? What benefits would your company receive if you developed and built a “Well Done” culture? Experience Question: As a leader, do you have reasons for the decisions that you make, and are you comfortable with sharing with your team the reasons for the decisions you made?
