             Take the Alumni Giving Challenge!
Since 2005, the Tribe Club has been tracking the percentage of alumni athletes giving
back to their specific sport. The men’s and women’s track teams came in last place for
2011-12. It’s about time that changed! As an added incentive this year, the athletic de-
partment will award prizes to teams based on the percentages of alumni who donate the
most: First prize will be $2,500; second place, $1,500; third place, $1,000. Donations
must be received by June 30, 2013. !

             2013 Colonial Half Marathon
Revisit cherished running routes and meet up with old friends at the Sentara Colonial
Half Marathon, which will take place February 24 in Williamsburg. Register by January 30
to beat the price increase. For more info, visit www.colonialhalfmarathon.com. !

             Welcome, Coach Hunter!
Brian Hunter has joined the men’s and women’s teams as assistant coach. He is work-
ing with the Tribe’s pole vaulters and jumpers. A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Hunter
graduated from the University of Texas in 2003 with a degree in chemical engineering,
and has been coaching at the high school and collegiate levels for nearly 10 years, in-
cluding stints at Texas and West Point. A two-time Olympic Trials qualifier in the pole
vault, Hunter won the 2002 NCAA outdoor championship with a career-best vault of 5.70
            meters (18-8.25). !

           NCAA Regional

W&M’s second place was the women’s team’s highest regional finish in school history,
and earned the team an automatic spot at the NCAA Championships. Elaina Balouris
finished seventh overall in 20:37.12 for her third all-region performance. Emily Stites
became the best-finishing rookie in school history with her 10th-place showing, crossing

of All-American finishers. Elaina Balouris ran 19:56.0 for 13th place, the fourth-best
finish in school history. It was her second All-America nod and the fourth for a cross-
country athlete from W&M. Emily Stites finished 26th in 20:05.8 to become the first
freshman ever at W&M to earn All-America honors. Clarissa Schick ran 21:16.0 for
