Antarctic Treaty EricaThe Antarctic Treaty is an organisation that helps preserve Antarctica to keep it Earths only
continent without human activity. There are 49 country involved in the Antarctic Treaty, the 12
main countries are: Argentina, Australia, Belgium,Chile,France, Japan,New Zealand,Norway, South
Africa,The Soviet union,The United States and United Kingdom. Why was it formed? They were
created to protect animals and plants. They only allow scientific research. The countries that sign
the Treaty must set up a station. Why is the Antarctic Treaty so important? The treaty states the
purpose of Antarctica it is dedicated to "Peace and science''.The Antarctic treaty started in June
23, 1961.They help protect the environment by reducing pollution Helping the wildlife .Helping to
keep Antarctica a to be rubbish free and healthy place for animals to flourish.
The Antarctic Treaty makes sure that Antarctica is a peaceful place and making sure there is no
harm towards it. They Protect the environment with producing NO litter at all. There are strict rules
made by the community to ensure that the Antarctic Treaty is not doing any harm to the continent:
The planes are not allowed close to any pack of wildlife. Any animals to be brought with explores
to Antarctica are not allowed to disrupt the life cycle in Antarctica. There are not to be any
explosives next to wildlife No countries are allowed to put any waste in Antarctica as it can poison
the Animals making the population of the animals decrease, this results to making all there
Continue Antarctic Project Erica
The Antarctic Treaty always inspects boats, planes and other forms of transport to see if there
are any things that are dangerous and can affect the wildlife in Antarctica. The Antarctic Treaty
has protected Antarctica for thousands of years and they have made a huge difference in this
amazing continent. They Protect Animals by-Not allowing humans to touch them as they are
used to being free and with there pack. The animals are only allowed to be touched by
scientists when they are doing research on the species this rule protects the animals and the
humans. The Antarctic Treaty is very important because it protects Antarctica from any human
activity. The group works very hard to make Antarctica the only place in the world that hasn't
been destroyed by waste, pollution, and much more. Antarctica is known for some of it's lovely
animals like-Penguins Seals Whales special types of birds and krill. The Antarctic Treaty helps
Protect them to make sure they are living in a safe and healthy environment. The people in the
Antarctic Treaty are volunteers from almost every country that formed a group of committed
people to care for Antarctica and its native creatures.
Construction: Samantha
The Base will be constructed in the most easy to reach,
but deserted part of Antarctica to make sure the
building will not disrupt wildlife, and making sure that
the construction will not break or harm the ice around
it. The maine building materials are going to be Fibrous
cement: a material that is very well insulated and
strong, to last in the strong winds and snow that
Antarctica has to offer. You can also use hemp cement
which is very strong and suitable for outdoor use.
Metal and steel rods to keep the structure strong and
stable.

-Fifty million years ago Antarctica had climate temperature.
-Bigger than Europe
-Double the size of Australia (approximately)
-The lowest temperature so far in Antarctica is -89.2 degree celsius
- Antarctica came from a greek word meaning opposite to north
-Antarctica is considered as a desert
-90% of ice on Earth is from Antarctica
-There are some plants that live there
-Surrounded by southern waters
-Emilio Palma an Argentine national was the first person to be born in

Sustainability: Natasha
To possibly live in Antarctica for 6 months we need to create a waste free but functional land.
The land that we will build on, will be an area where animals don’t usually go because if we
build on an area where it is common for penguins, seals etc., to go, then it can affect the
animals. The food that will be provided will be frozen as the conditions can freeze fresh food
and the fresh food won’t last long. The food will be reheated through fire within the base. Also
wherever we choose to build will have thick ice, not thin ice because that can easily crack and
therefore result in a disaster. Our drinks will be shipped, but it will either be drink bottles or
plastic bottles because with drink bottles, you can reuse them again and again. So is the same
with plastic bottles. Our body waste will be eliminated from Antarctica by having an intricate
toilet system. The urine that come out of our bodies can go through a pipe that goes to another
base, called the Research lab. That urine will be turned into energy so that we can have more
electric and motor uses. The faeces will be eliminated also by the intricate toilet system. Our
faeces will go down into another pipe, where machines from the Research Lab, will condense it
and put it in cylinders, to be shipped and put into the sewers in Australia. The way we can get
access to clean water for our showers, is that we can boil glaciers ( we cut it into pieces) so it
becomes warm and clean. Scientists then clean the water further by taking out unwanted
particles. Then we use a pipe that goes to the showers, and then there will be access to clean
water.

They also help protect the animals. Why is the
Treaty important It is important because without
them Antarctica would’nt be safe from human
activity.
Penguins Annette
There are many different type of penguins in
Antarctica for example king penguins ,
