Of war.
William Hobson helped by proposing the treaty to the Maori
leaders. He also helped by making peace by not killing any
Maori villager.
He was sick of war between our two country and lots of lives
being lost. He was also very Christian so he was very much
against people fighting.

William Hobson helped by proposing the treaty to the Maori
leaders. He also helped by making peace by not killing any Maori
villager
In August 1839 the British Government sent Captain William
Hobson out to New Zealand aboard "The Herald", as British Consul,
with orders to a part of New Zealand and place it under British rule.
His mission was to organize a treaty and get the Maori chiefs to
accept British sovereignty over all, or at least over parts of the
country. The British Government was anxious to establish
sovereignty in order to stabilize the degrading situation in New
Zealand.
William Hobson (1793-1842) was a British naval
commander and governor of New Zealand. He negotiated
the Treaty of Waitangi with the Maori chiefs, which
granted England sovereignty over New Zealand.
The Journey of the Treaty

WHICH TRIBES REFUSED TO SIGN THE TREATY?
IS THE TREATY IN TE PAPA?
OUR QUESTIONS

 It was signed by more
than 500 people.

Many years went by and
the treaty got lots of bad
treatment. This is how it
looks like now.

out about the journey of
the treaty.
That was the end of the journey
[for now]

treaty
The 5 tribes that did not sign the treaty of Waitangi
were Tahoe, Taraia, Potatau Te Wherowhero, Arawa
and Tuwharetoa.
Stay tuned and you will find out !!!!
