Looking back on your preliminary task, what

5. I think that by practising on photoshop, my
skills have improved therefore I think this is
evident in my products. Overall, I think that
my final front cover is a lot more
professional than my prelim task, which
looks very mediocre and basic. I learnt how
important cover lines are as previously I
only had three, whereas on my final cover I
have six, which is a normal amount for a
real front cover. I also think that my camera
skills are better as the first task was a bit
too close up, and the image has a lot of
shadows, but for my music magazine it is
further away and has been edited, which is
another thing that I think improved my
front cover. I didn’t edit my prelim photo,
however I changed the brightness etc of my
final magazine image.
6. Producing the final contents page taught
me a lot about how important the
structure and layout of the contents page
is. Moreover, I used a different software
to produce the final contents page than
the preliminary task one, therefore on
InDesign I was able to achieve a more
professional product overall, due to the
help with the guides. I learnt how
important it is to fill all of the space.
Overall I think the use of the colour
scheme is better in the contents page in
the end, as It suits my target audience
more, and looks more life like.
7. I learnt how important the use of a colour
scheme is, this is used in order to create a
brand and draw people in. It also needs to
look good and the colours need to match and
cannot clash. I learnt how important it is
that the colours represent the target
audience otherwise they wouldn’t want to
buy it.
8. During the course of producing this work, I
learnt a lot about how to make products look
more professional. This was needed as at
first, as you can see in my preliminary task,
the products looked nothing like real
magazines and I didn’t really know how I was
going to be able to make them look more
realistic, however I learnt how to do this by
using all of the features of Photoshop and
Indesign and by considering factors such as
typography, images and the codes and
conventions of professional works.
