- There a number of ways that Adult Social Care currently engage with users and carers. We also collect data through user/ carer survey done for the Department of health. The Barnet Family Carers Forum and Barnet Older Peoples Assembly are relatively new and were set up in 2011 Homecare Advisory Group – user and carers on the group were instrumental in the procurement of Home and Community and Enablement Tenders during 2010.
- Floating Support – user and carers have been involved in the procurement of Floating support services during 2010. Expert by Experience Users and carers with direct experience of social care sit on the Right to Control (RTC) Panel and influence the development of RTC. What is the Right to Control? The Right to Control is a new legal right for disabled people. It gives disabled people more choice and control over the support they need to go about their daily lives. Disabled adults will be able to combine the support they receive from six different sources and decide how best to spend the funding to meet their needs. Disabled people will be able to choose to: continue receiving the same support ask a public body to arrange new support receive a direct payment and buy their own support have a mix of these arrangements.
- Partnership Boards There are 5 PBs : Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Physical and sensory Impairment, Carers Strategy Partnership Board They are made up of statutory ( health and social care) , voluntary sector and user and carer members.
- Commissioning means securing the services that most appropriately address the needs and wishes of the individual service user, making use of market intelligence and research, and planning accordingly.
