This combined task of services and resources is becoming increasingly difficult and brings to question whether it’s possible to diminish the reputation of libraries being the heart of the law school if the services and resources aren’t able to keep up with the lack of funds. This was the Pecha Kucha presentation connected to a thesis paper aiming to explore whether the continuation of the stronghold law libraries occupy on campuses across America is dependent upon the services and resources they provide, finding ways to make those services and resources more impactful despite the budgetary restraints, and strengthening the visibility and value of the legal librarians within these libraries.

Chris Curington Nicole Musgrave Abigail Stevens The university-community partnership is a mechanism through which a university recognizes its strategic role in shaping the health of the surrounding community. The Florida State University’s Department of Urban & Regional Planning Fall 2010 Studio examined Tallahassee conditions and national best practices to identify approaches to local redevelopment. The Ohio State University’s Campus Partners for Community Urban Redevelopment and the Chattanooga Downtown Riverfront programs will be presented as models of redevelopment processes. How local conditions influence adaptation of these examples of partnership as instruments for infill will be considered and the community benefits inherent in such organizations will be stressed.

Re-awakening the 'Peoples University' - the learning agenda opportunity to reinvigorate public libraries. Community, informal (outside formal academic institutions) and online learning is a growing, disruptive opportunity. Learning happens best where there is a ‘community’ of support and good learning spaces. Public libraries have an opportunity to thrive if they develop the right capabilities to deliver a compelling learning offer. Presented at the CILIP "Re-imaging Learning" Executive Briefing on 13th November 2014

NCompass Live - January 29, 2020 http://nlc.nebraska.gov/ncompasslive/ Innovation encompasses far more than technology. One of the most exciting trends in 21st century libraries is the emphasis on restructuring and reinventing our roles in our communities. A huge part of this discussion revolves around the term "Community Engagement". And while this sounds grand and fancy, things often get blurry when we are pressed to define it, implement it, and (the most daunting of all) measure it. It’s time to cut through ambiguity and put concrete parameters around this evasive topic. This discussion will center around the following questions about community engagement: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and HOW? Participants will leave with a clear definition of Community Engagement, along with the framework for how to build a Community Engagement plan. One size doesn’t fit all. Your library is uniquely special and to honor this fact, this interactive hour will include brainstorming about what’s right for your library and community. This discussion will be supported by concrete examples and case studies from libraries who have implemented successful community engagement plans. This conversation is for everyone in the public library. The secret to effective community engagement involves the whole team; we all have an important part to play. Presenter: Erica Rose, Library Science Faculty/Program Coordinator, University of Nebraska at Omaha.
