second by imitation, which is

stance, an orientation to problem solving or state of mind"

Self-reflection: (more than) holding up the
mirror
“A reflection in a mirror is an
exact replica of what is in
front of it. Reflection in
professional practice,
however, gives back not
what it is, but what might
be, an improvement on the
original"
(Biggs, 1999)

Being stuck in the traffic at Greystone is an occupational hazard for anyone who goes to
the British GP. There really is not terrestrial way to avoid it - unless you get on a motorbike
(and risk being soaked by a passing rainstorm). This year at 0630 on Sunday traffic was
tailed back four miles on the A43 and on the back road at Stowe was seized solid three
miles out. Later in the morning, we heard, the traffic jam reached legendary proportions,
as it does every year. Greystone traffic is the worst in the world and it never gets any
better. There are many rumoured short cuts and secret routes but over the years I have
tried them all and none ever really work.

The Leicester Award enables you to be ready for the dynamic nature of the working world. ….In the 21st Century the most significant challenge for graduates will be to manage their relationship with work and learning. This requires skills such as negotiating, action-planning and networking, added to qualities like self awareness and confidence….These are the skills required to be self reliant in career and personal development; skills to manage processes rather than functional skills”
Blackboard– use the forums to get to know each other, and to ask questions. Keep an eye on anouncements, we will give you details of events and opportunities that come up. Networking eveningCelebration eveningLeicester Seminar series.
WelcomeFire drillToilets, point out break and break out sessions. In here for the majority of the programme. Photographers later, please let me know if you don’t want your photo used. The focus of today is to give you a better understanding of how you work in a team situation. This will give a position to reflect from and allow you to concentrate on what strengths you already have and where you need to develop.
About 50 miles south of Leicester a little village called Silverstone.
Your challenge is to create a strategy for engaging with the local community to build relationships between the track and village.
See website to talk around what Silverstone are doingCorporate social responsibility (CSR). Ideally, CSR policy would function as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business would monitor and ensure its support to law, ethical standards, and international norms. Consequently, business would embrace responsibility for the impact of its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere. Furthermore, CSR-focused businesses would proactively promote the public interest by encouraging community growth and development, and voluntarily eliminating practices that harm the public sphere, regardless of legality.Essentially, CSR is the deliberate inclusion of public interest into corporate decision-making, and the honoring of a triple bottom line: people, planet, profit. The practice of CSR is much debated and criticized. Proponents argue that there is a strong business case for CSR, in that corporations benefit in multiple ways by operating with a perspective broader and longer than their own immediate, short-term profits. Critics argue that CSR distracts from the fundamental economic role of businesses; others argue that it is nothing more than superficial window-dressing; yet others argue that it is an attempt to pre-empt the role of governments as a watchdog over powerful multinational corporations. Corporate Social Responsibility has been redefined throughout the years. However, it essentially is titled to aid to an organization's mission as well as a guide to what the company stands for and will uphold to its consumers.
