A robber broke into the local museum and stole informational papers on painters from the 15 th century to the 19 th century!! Researcher believe that the information can still be found but they need your help! YOU have been hired on a special assignment to travel through time and gather information regarding famous painters of the past. This journey will take you through time to visit various famous artists hometowns (websites) and learn about that painter’s life and unique painting style. You must bring along a sketchbook to keep notes and to create their artist emulation paintings in to bring back to the museum. You will play the role of; an explorer, an artist, researcher, and journalist on this WebQuest. Once you have completed the journey and artist sketchbook, you will choose two of the three final projects to complete and present to the museum staff.

This lesson could be expanded to accommodate older students or even the additional requirement of the third project at the end. Before students begin this lesson they will need to know and understand how to get around on the internet. Students are required to visit outlined sites to require information and need this prior knowledge. Students should also know how to take effective notes that highlight the main points that are important to the story.
