How did you use media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
stages?
2. Whatsapp
Whatsapp is a form of social media that facilitates instant
messaging. During the planning and construction stage; We used this
in order to communicate with each other and our performer because he
wasn’t in any of our classes. We felt that using whatsapp was
effective because the messages sent instantly, we could see if the
person had received and read the message, and finally it allowed us
to talk within a group chat which made things a lot easier.
Therefore it was good because it allowed us to communicate
effectively.
4. AdobePremierepro
During the construction phase we used Adobe Premiere Pro in order to
edit our music video together. We used it because it was very user
friendly once you get the hang of it and it had very good editing
effects about such as colours, transitions, flashes and even a
sixteen-point garbage matte effect. We felt that this software was
very effective because it had a great range of effects available to
us and it helped our final product be aesthetically pleasing and
professional. However, a few drawbacks we felt was that it felt
quite slow at some points and rendering files took up a lot of disk
space.
6. Digitalcameras
We used Digital cameras to record all of our footage at 450
isos. Adam mainly used the camera because he was our
cinematographer. I used the camera at some points because
Adam couldn’t make some of the filming days. I didn’t know
how to use the camera that well but I knew the basics such as
how to get the shot in focus and how to record and stop
recording. Our footage came out looking great so we used the
Canon Cameras very well. Therefore I thought that the camera
was very effective because it proved to be fit for purpose
and helped us get the shots that we needed to a quality
extent because it was portable and had good lenses. The
battery life could be quite an issue at times though.
8. Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is a picture editing software that we used to
make our Digipaks and advert. Adam was mainly responsible for
using photoshop because he does photography so he knew how to
use it the most which is why we chose him to do it. I
observed him when using it so I know how to do things such as
the colour changes and the colour effects like ‘black and
white’. An advantage of using this was that it allows you to
manipulate images quite well and there are many tools.
However a disadvantage is that it is quite hard to use for
new and inexperienced users. I found using Adobe Premier Pro
a lot easier than photoshop.
10. Youtube
Youtube is a social media sharing site that facilitates
sharing videos online. We used it quite a lot in all of our
stages of production. We used it for research by looking at
professional music videos so that we could analyse them and
judge their genre conventions. Youtube facilitated this well.
We also used Youtube to embed our music video rough cuts to
our blog so that our assessors could view them. Therefore it
proved to be an effective and valuable tool for us because we
could use it and there were no issues at all.
12. Blogger
Blogger is a blogging site that allows people to post blogs
online. We used this to create a portfolio on our research,
planning and construction of our media product. We used it to
post blogs on audience theories, media concepts and
conventions of genre to show our knowledge. We used it to
plan as well by posting blogs of storyboards, mind maps,
group discussions and focus groups. It also facilitated the
ability to post our video on there to allow our assessors to
look at it. It was a great technology for us because our
teachers had access to it at all times because it was on the
internet. One drawback would be that it is accessible to
anyone so somebody could potentially steal ideas.
15. Google
We used Google for all of our research because it is a search
engine on the internet. We used it for all of our research on
theories and concepts and things of this nature because we
knew that we could find answers. We felt that it was
effective because it helped us find millions of webpages in a
matter of seconds so, when researching, we had many sources
of information. One drawback of google we found was that it
gave us access to information that would be classed as
plagiarism.
