1. Andy Fallon
Andy Fallon is music photographer and an art director. Striking and atmospheric, his
pictures capture the essence of his subject, resulting in intimate portraits that have won him
a reputation as a music photographer and director. He has taken photographs of some of
the biggest artists from his iconic portraits Morrissey and REM’s Michael Stipe through to
The Killers, Beth Ditto, George Martin, Dave Grohl, Dizzpee Rascal and Spiritualized.
In terms of this image, it really stands out in terms of colours. The background is very bright
and contrasted, really making it stand out to the viewers. The framing of this image really
stands out. From what we can see the artist really stand out, the balance within the frame
really makes you look at the artist. The background isn’t out of focus. You can still see the
buildings and the clouds on the background of the image making them stand out to the
viewers. From the lighting we can see straight away that it is natural lighting, and the
subjects in the background are all natural, like the trees and buildings.
In terms of the shot, we can see that it wasn’t taken straight on. Instead it was taken looking
up at the artist. The reason for that is in my opinion is so that the image gets a nice frame of
the artist along with the background and also it also gives it a more dramatic look to it
2. because the artist are looking down towards the camera. The setting of the image really
makes the artist really stand out.
