Video clips on finding, loading and
manipulating data layers

2. This presentation contains three
YouTube video clips
• Clip 1: Starting out, finding the assignment
data, saving the map document to your Z:
drive and adding and deleting data layers
• Clip 2: Adding data layers, zooming into an
area of interest, modifying the appearance of
the layers
• Clip 3: Using the symbology tools to use
multiple colours on a single layer to
distinguish classes of features.

3. Clip 1: follows this slide
• To follow this clip, you need to have worked
through the developmental assignment on
using ArcMAP, to ensure you have made the
folder connections to the D: drive and your Z:
drive on the network
• Clip 2 follows clip 1 and you can go straight to
it by clicking the advance button below
without watching clip 1

4. Clip 2: adding layers, zooming
• In this clip we just look at basic tools for
making quick changes to the appearance of
whole layers and zooming in to areas of
interest
• Clip 3 follows clip 2 and you can advance
directly to it without watching clip 2

5. Clip 3: advanced symbology
• In this clip we will look at how you can apply
multiple colours to a single map layer, to
distinguish features on it, based on their
attributes.
• Clip 3 is the last clip in this first collection of
videos.
