2. In 2011, the YWCA Girls’ Sports program
reached over 390 girls between the ages of 3
and 14.
Classes were offered in
soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
The YWCA also introduced Super Sports, a
program that introduces girls to all different
sports including field hockey and lacrosse.

programs in 2011
In 2011 the YWCA established a scholarship
from the Andrew "Drew" Roth Foundation.
"Drew" was a member of the 2008 Playroom
Plus Class and died suddenly Nov. 26, 2010.
The Scholarship was presented to a preschool
student.

7. The Lockport and Niagara Falls Summer Day
Camps offered summer fun for over 180
school age children in 2011.
The YWCA School Age Childcare programs
saw an increase in attendance to over 100
children in 2011.

9. The Advantage Grant ended on June 9, 2011 for all
Round 4 programs around NY State. This changed
the fee structure of the YWCA Advantage Program
while keeping the same curriculum.
Emmet Belknap has become a fee based site for 5th
and 6th grade. Newfane Middle continues to be a
free program thanks to a grant from the Grigg Lewis
Foundation.

11. 278 women and children have come to live at
Carolyn’s House since 2005, forty-nine in
2011.
Six women graduated from Carolyn’s House
programs in 2011.
Five residents have participated in the
matched savings program in 2011.
13. Monthly luncheon served over 600 patrons in

The Catering Crew served 142 events in 2011.
City Hall Café opened April, 2011
The Catering Crew hired 15 graduates of the
culinary program to work at the Airport Café.
The Airport Café has grown exponentially as
the number of passengers, flights and airlines
have increased.

17. The YWCA provided shelter to 35 women and 40 children in 2011.
3 families moved to Transitional Housing and 1 to Carolyn’s House upon
leaving.
320 non residential domestic violence victims have been counseled in
2011 .
The YWCA initiated the county’s first Sexual Assault Response Team
(SART), comprised of law enforcement, sexual assault nurse
examiners, advocates and prosecutors.
75 Rape Crisis Hotline Calls were responded to in 2011.

2011.continued their tradition of kicking off the summer with a combined day of fun that included a carnival, games and prizes and swimming at the Lockport Community Pool. Old friends renewed their ties and new friends found a summer buddy. Both camps came together each week for field trips which took them into Canada and across Western New York. Lockport and Niagara Falls camps this year enjoyed the talents of staff from Girl Scouts of Western New York and Shea’s Performing Arts Center who presented them with an interactive workshop. The combined registration for both camps was over 180 children.
The 2011 Niagara Awards Even was the largest event yet. 36 women were nominated in 8 leadership categories. Over 370 attendees enjoyed a night filled with fellowship and congratulations.
Sylvia Baptiste was promoted to Finance Director after serving over twenty years in the accounting office. The YWCA has over 80 employees and 7 sites 9 sites in 2011.
