Who discovered the Machu
Picchu
 Hiram Bingham discovered the Machu Picchu.
 He was in an Expedition with some other people but
they abandoned him in their search for the lost city.
 Hiram Bingham was born in November 19th ,1875.
 It is believed that Hiram Bingham did not discover the
Machu Picchu and that a German Archaeologist
discovered it years before Hiram.
 Hiram Bingham found the lost city of Machu Picchu but
he was in search of the lost city of vilcabumba. So when
he found the Machu Picchu he thought it was the lost
city of Vilcabumba.
Why Is the Machu Picchu A Famous
Archaeological Discovery.
 Because the Machu Picchu is a 15th century inca city
located 2,430 m above sea level in the Urubamba
region of Peru.
 Also Because it is the LOST city of Machu Picchu.
 Because the people Of Machu Picchu Build a huge
masterpiece castle without any tools.
What Artifacts were found in the
Site of the Machu Picchu
 There are some artifacts that have been found
including pottery, stones and a ceremonial pot
dating all the way back to the 12th century(just the
pot). This reveals that the inca people have been
around for a long long time.
 Their were more than 5000 artifacts taken from
Machu Picchu.
 Some Artifacts from Machu Picchu are displayed at
the Yale University Casa Concha but there are much
more museums that hold the Artifacts.
