John Ernest Dunn founded JE Dunn Construction Company in Kansas
City Missouri in 1924. What began as a small, family-run residential
contractor has grown into one of the top general building contractors in
the country with approximate annual revenues of $2.7 billion and 20
office locations coast-to-coast.
JE Dunn Construction is in the business of constructing buildings, but

The majority of JE Dunn employees spend time volunteering throughout the
year in organizations such as educational and youth development,
healthcare research, sustainability efforts, religious groups, arts and cultural
foundations, and many more.
The core value of the company – giving to & meeting community needs, was
recognized & formally structured in 1981 through the establishment of the
Dunn Family Foundation. Through the efforts of employees and the support
of the Dunn Family Foundation, JE Dunn supported more than 300
philanthropies last year.
JE Dunn has created an environment for employees which encourages
them to get involved in the communities in which they live and work. We
aren't just dedicated to building buildings, we are committed to building

MINORITY CONTRACTOR BUSINESSMINORITY CONTRACTOR BUSINESS
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (MCBD)DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (MCBD)
The Minority Contractor Business Development Program (MCBD Program) was launched in
2006 in Kansas City and is currently being implemented at a number of JE Dunn locations
across the country. This program is comprised of MBE and WBE contractor companies that
are selected through an application and interview process. Selection criteria include industry
experience, size of company, and current conditions.
The purpose of this program is to build business development skills so that M/WBE
contractors can compete with non-minority contractors in the construction industry. During
the one-year program, participants attend classes facilitated by JE Dunn on a monthly
basis, providing them with a full curriculum of topics ranging from estimating to policies and
procedures. It is also the goal of the program to provide these companies with the tools to
participate on JE Dunn projects. Additionally, participants are paired with an experienced
mentor to offer further support and resources outside of the classroom.

MINORITY CONTRACTOR BUSINESSMINORITY CONTRACTOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (MCBD)DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (MCBD) The Minority Contractor Business Development Program (MCBD Program) was launched in 2006 in Kansas City and is currently being implemented at a number of JE Dunn locations across the country. This program is comprised of MBE and WBE contractor companies that are selected through an application and interview process. Selection criteria include industry experience, size of company, and current conditions. The purpose of this program is to build business development skills so that M/WBE contractors can compete with non-minority contractors in the construction industry. During the one-year program, participants attend classes facilitated by JE Dunn on a monthly basis, providing them with a full curriculum of topics ranging from estimating to policies and procedures. It is also the goal of the program to provide these companies with the tools to participate on JE Dunn projects. Additionally, participants are paired with an experienced mentor to offer further support and resources outside of the classroom.
