8. In addition to the specific projects joyn has been running Open Studio sessions for adults
and children from diverse backgrounds on an ongoing basis. joyn provides an art
therapy service for individuals and groups. Participants come privately, or come through
institutions/services such as Mercy Primary School, Rehab Care, National Learning
Network. joyn also facilitated a support group for women asylum seekers. This was a
pilot project funded by HSE.
During the last year joyn has been running workshops for professionals in health,
education and social care who are interested in learning about art therapy and how it can
be adapted to the needs of various client groups. These workshops combine elements
of art therapy theory with experiential workshops to provide a multi-faceted learning
experience. joyn facilitated training for staff from Sligo Rape Crisis and the Family
Resource Center.
We are also running experiential workshops which aim to promote the personal and
creative development of participants through art making and reflection.
