3. Punishment Kids were punished for many different things. The book called the cane listed all the ways that they could get punished. Some ways that they could face consequences were by rude conduct, leaving the playground without permission, sulkiness, answering back, missing Sunday prayers throwing pellets and being late. One consequence was the dunce cap. The dunce cap was were you stood on a stool in the back of the class, wearing an arm band with dunce written on it.
