5. DUCIA PARUM ATEM / FEATURE
HEAD OF
THE
CLASS
Deniero Bartolini graduated from Business Management at
Humber College and is now studying International Business
there. We chatted with Deniero to get his thoughts on
Humber College.
Why did you choose Humber?
I went to York University for one semester but didn’t know if I wanted a lengthy degree pro-
gram. Some of my friends and family recommended Humber and I knew it had a really good
reputation across Canada.
What is the campus like?
I am at the Lakeshore campus, which is the best spot in Toronto! It’s near the lake and
although there is still a college feeling, it’s also very community oriented. The college is ex-
tremely picturesque. The building is from the 1800’s but it’s all renovated so it has beautiful
facilities. It has a Harvard look from the outside!
Tell us about your experience with applied business management at Humber?
This was a very unique experience for me. Students in the Business Management class get
to run their own business from scratch. First, as a team, we incorporated a business, bought
shares in the company and everyone applied for positions in the company. I was President,
along with two others, and there were VP’s, CFO’s, and sales people. The class learned how
to start and run a company so that I can directly apply this knowledge if I want to start a busi-
ness of my own.
What else appeals to you about Humber?
The classes are not too big so most of the instructors know your name. If you need help,
assistance is readily available and you can call or e-mail your instructors if you have any
questions.
What about the Humber social scene?
There are lots of leisure events students can participate in. There is a Humber Student Fed-
eration that organizes at least one event per week. For example, there is an Amazing Race ac-
tivity, Deal or No Deal event, Frosh Week, music contest and we’ve even had world-famous
DJ’s play at Humber!
Any final thoughts?
Humber College was the best choice for my school career. It’s not only great for academic
purposes but there’s a lot of social activity and motivated people who like to get involved in
programs in and outside of class. Students like to have a good time but also love learning.
Humber is a great place to do it.
Humber College offers full-time, part-time, online and international programs in business,
community services, health, hospitality, media, technology, and performing arts. Credentials
include bachelor’s degrees, postgraduate certificates, diplomas, certificates and apprentice-
ships. Over 91 per cent of graduates are hired within six months.
