Name Calling Persuasive Speech
Have you ever been bullied before? Have you ever been called a name? Well, at J.R. Gerrits
school, this happens a lot. Lots of people call other people names. If you don't know what name
calling is, it's where someone calls another person a mean name or a name besides their own. And
this doesn't just happen a couple of times per year, it happens daily and it happens for a reason.
Usually happens because the name caller is going through a tough time, meaning they are
struggling in life, or they just want to do it to be cool or funny. Do you know what name calling
is? Like I said before, name calling is where someone calls another person a mean name or a name
besides their own. That happens a lot a J.R.G. Weather its 7th/8th graders or boys/girls, it happens
at J.R.G. This also happens a lot at J.R.G. In fact, about 7 out of 10 people surveyed, 66%, are
affected by name calling at J.R.G. But only about 35 people were surveyed. If that number is true
for the whole school, that means that 480 students at J.R.G are affected by name calling. Now, that
is a lot. Also, did you know that an estimated 54 million Americans have been name called at some
point in their lives? That is a humongous number, in fact, it's about the same as the total populations
of California and Florida. Just think about that. That would mean that every kid at J.R Gerritts
middle school would get name called in their lifetime. This is unexplainably bad for our generation.
Along with that, there are negative

Ar 15 Persuasive Speech
Lately everyone is seeing school shootings and robberies on the news and how most of these crimes
are done with the the gun known as the ar–15 also known as an assault rifle.A lot of people jumped
on board to ban these guns. But will that really fix our shooting problem? A strong majority of
vote in 2017 voted for the banning of the ar 15 after the school shooting in florida killing multiply
students.61 percent of the adults in Florida say that the ar 15 should be banned.39 percent of the
adults say that background checks and looking into there history is necessary to buy in gun.The
reasons for banning ar's are not to get the weapons away from normal and mentally stable people but
to keep the guns of the streets and out of the reach of the kids that are capable and mentally unstable.

Doubt Will Always Be There but Revenge is a Choice
Revenge is considered to be the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or
wrong suffered at their hands. This definition just scratches the true meaning of the word
revenge. There is a series of doubts that can lead to revenge. This idea can be seen in many pieces
of texts including the following poems. "A Poison Tree" by William Blake and " A total stranger
one black as night" by e.e. cummings both convey that when repressed anger builds in a person's,
revenge becomes an option and self doubt has set into their thoughts. Throughout "A Poison Tree"
William Blake conveys that repressed anger builds in people, and revenge becomes an option and
doubt is a reality. Blake uses allusion in "A Poison Tree" that expresses that repressed anger builds
in a person's. By using an allusion to one of the Bible's story about Adam and Eve. This quote shows
an allusion to the bible helping the meaning of the poem. The speaker says "Till it bore an apple
bright./ And my foe beheld it shine" (Blake 10–11). The allusion uses self doubt and revenge by
alluding to the Bible through the story of Adam and Eve. The apple on the tree is poison just like
the one in the Bible and both are signs of revenge and self doubt, perfectly alluding to the famous
story. Blake uses the story of the bible to help people understand what is happening in the story
because most likely people will understand the allusion. The next literary device William Burke uses
is end rhyme in "A Poison Tree" to portray that he enjoys the ability to use revenge on his foe,
almost like he's enjoying setting up the plan and getting rid of his self doubt. This quote shows
how the end rhyme makes the poem seem enjoyable. The speak says "and into my garden stole,
/ When the night had veild the pole; /In the morning glad I see;/ My foe outstretched beneath the
tree" (Blake 13–16). The end rhyme is used by showing that he chose the option of revenge is
happy with his decision as well as the speaker knew how calculated he was going to do with his
revenge. The end rhyme emphasizes how precise he was with the planning just like the end rhyme
and how calculated he is. As well as Seamlessly adding that the

Famous Persuasive Speeches
I awoke tired and grouchy. The night before had left me exhausted but also inspired. The polls
don't lie; the people want the truth and the truth is what I provided. When people see the name
Donald Trump, I want them to think of the man who made America great again. America is not
like when I grew up in the 50's. We were once a proud bunch who had the right to be proud, but
now we are just another country. As Dad used to say, "Donald, now that we are both men, America
has changed. I have faith that one day you will help restore America to its once great glory." I never
quite knew what Dad meant, that is until recently when the nation needed a leader. I instantly knew
what he meant. I was to replace Obama as president of the United States of America. On June 16th,

Bernie just sat there quietly grinning and mumbling, "Fool!" Bernie and the bunch proceeded to
torture me and insisted I drop out and quit this silly act. I was almost broken by the hours of their
idiotic rambling of power and money. That is after all the only true reason they are running. At last I
saw it–the light at the end of the tunnel. I managed to slip one wrist out of the ropes waiting to
proceed with my next move. Then I heard the real plans. They wanted to nuke Canada and
Russia, starting a third world war. They had the codes on my desk in front of them. They were
about to press the giant red button that would forever be the click heard round the world if I did
not act quickly. I shouted, "Wait. please don't! You know you will be caught." Laughter...laughter
was all I heard. "You really think we are that stupid?" Bernie said. "We have been planning this for
months. You will be blamed for destroying America once we initiate the launch and leave you here

Ted Talk Persuasive Speech
In Melissa Fleming's TED talk Let's Help Refugees Thrive, Not Just Survive, she discusses the
idea of helping immigrant refugees live a successful life in their new world, rather than just
giving them the tools to simply survive. Her main reasoning behind this was wanting to share
people's story in order to help make a difference. Fleming's first described events in which she
used quotes to help her audience feel emotions toward the subject of immigrants going to other
countries in order to reach safety. To get her audience to agree with her point of helping immigrants
succeed, Fleming's used the example of the young boy who had his life in danger and the only thing
he saved was his high school diploma because of the amount of danger he had

Persuasive Essay On Conspiracy Theories
The Internet has played a large role in my interest in conspiracy theories. Although I definitely do
not believe all of them, they are fun to look into and are good tools for procrastination. Falling
deeper into the hole that is Wikipedia, I spent a large amount of my free time "researching" them. It
got to the point where I had to force myself to actually work on homework instead. However, I am
not one of those crazy conspiracy theorists; I am only interested in ones that seem legit. All
interesting conspiracy theories have similar qualities. A majority of them involve the government or
celebrities. And depending on the theory, they are believable.
My personal favorites all happen to involve the government, some classics included. It is said that
9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by Bush to purposely start a war with Afghanistan. Some
survivors recall that they heard separate explosions at the time of the attacks, which has led people
to believe that there were pre–planted explosives inside the Twin Towers. It is a well known fact
that the towers collapsed at one point, but this is seen as suspicious to many conspiracy theorists. A
common known phrase among believers is "jet fuel can't melt steel beams." Another widely believed
theory is that the Royal Family killed Princess Diana. There are a few versions, one of which is that
they killed her to prevent her from exposing the Family for being awful and corrupt. The other is
where she was killed for loving a man of color,

Martin Luther King And Thoreau Similarities
Each person is entitled to their own opinion; we all have different ideas on the same or different
things, but that does not always mean that their opinion is wrong. Each Thoreau and Martin Luther
King Jr. had an opinion, and they each made sure that they would share it with the world. They both
wrote famous persuasive essays that changed how we viewed the government. They both used
literary elements and as well pathos, or emotional appeal to carry out their ideas. Both of them
expressed their own idea, their preferences and what they thought was right and expressed what they
thought was wrong. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and David Thoreau are completely two different
people from completely different eras of time, but they share things in common....show more

King. Thoreau was actually arrested before he wrote his famous essay "Civil Disobedience" because
he did not want to pay poll taxes and from this incident he decided to write his essay. Thoreau
believed that the government should introod in other people's lives but instead should be there for
people to use for their will but it is okay to misuse it. Thoreau think it's okay to break the law and
that it shouldn't take over someone's life. He differs in this way from Dr. King because King
wanted to change the law and make it right for the lives of African American's. "If the injustice is
part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go: perchance it will wear
smooth––certainly the machine will wear out... but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be
the agent of injustice to another, then I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter–friction to stop
the machine. What I have to do is to see, at any rate, that I do not lend myself to the wrong which I
condemn." (Thoreau Page 8) In this quote Thoreau explains his view of the government and how it
should not control people. This is one thing he and dr. King have in common because neither of
them wanted to have the law tell them how to live their

Persuasive Poems
Kayla Trahan Mrs. Kristy Hebert English IV – 1st 26 January 2017 Persuasive Poems Some may
dispute that the Cavalier poems "To His Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell was more persuasive
than the poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Robert Herrick. The authors were
writing to sometimes different women that they wanted to woo over in order so they can sleep
with them. I believe that the poem "To the Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell was more
persuasive than the poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Robert Herrick. The
Cavalier poem I found to be more persuasive was "To His Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell.
Marvell wrote, "Had we but world enough, and time,/ This coyness lady, were no crime./We would

Herrick states, "Then be not coy, but use your time,/ And, while ye may, go marry;/ For, having
lost but once your prime,"(Herrick, ln. 13,14). Herrick basically told the women to stop being
shy and to not waste their youth. He told the women that he talked about to not waste away and
enjoy your youth while you have it. But, still, Herrick was overall more demanding than
Marvell's. Even though both of the Cavalier poems were about having sex, Marvell's poem was
more of a romance poem than Herrick's poem. Marvell wrote, "Thy beauty shall no more be found,
/ Nor , in thy marble vault, shall sound/ My echoing says" (Marvell, ln. 25–27). Marvell was saying
that beauty will no longer be there one day. Herrick said, "For having lost but once your prime,
/ You may forever tarry" (Herrick, ln. 15–16). Herrick was saying that your youth will not always be
there so best use it to their advantage. The Cavalier poem "To His Coy Mistress" by Marvell was
more persuading than the poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Herrick. Although they
were both mainly focused on the topic of sex Marvell was more of a romantic/persuasive than

Persuasive Essay : Existence Of God
Persuasive Essay: Existence of God The debate on the existence of a god has been a popular topic
among philosophers. Thomas Aquinas, a famous Italian philosopher, provided a set of arguments
that he believed proved the existence of a god, who brought the world into existence. These
arguments provide a sound reasoning behind the existence of god upon the basis that there are a
series of events and these events are somehow caused into being. Aquinas explains this uncaused
first cause to be god. The first proof he makes in order to prove the existence of God, is in regard
to the motion of the world. Aquinas observes that everything in the world changes and that,
"everything that changes is made to change by something else," (Perry pg. 44). This statement is
often refuted by the view that there may be an infinite chain of change that has been going on
forever. In refutation to this, it can be said that we would not be able to account for the change
/motion that we see in the world if there was an infinite amount of causation. If you trace back the
causes of motion to their causes of motion and so on, you can relate it to looking at a line
segment labeled from A to B. If you did this with the causes of objects you would find an infinite
amount of causes and you would never get to A but you know A exists because there is a line
segment. If there was not a first cause or starting point then we would not be able to account for the
motion that we see around us. Some may make the

Persuasive Essay About My Favorite Movie
For as long as I can remember the Adventures of the Wilderness Family has been my favorite
movie. I was fascinated by how close to nature Pat, Skip, Jenny, and Toby were and particularly
how close to wildlife they were. Every time I watched that movie I was just in awe of how
beautiful it was and how they could sustain themselves and persevere through anything including
multiple animal attacks. When I was a kid I always imagined running free in a field filled with
flowers and being so close to nature and feeling free to explore my own little world. I have
watched this movie countless times and have purposely never examined any faults the movie might

Whenever a character got attacked they seemed to take it really lightly, when realistically that is
life–threatening. Childhood me really appreciated this movie for the kind of life I hoped to live
when I got older. As a kid I would spend a lot of time by the pond outside my dad's house and
exploring the woods and backyard with my brothers and my Dad and watching this movie made
me look toward the possibility of one day living a life that ultimately felt free from my parents'
issues and social conflicts and allowed me to find the heart and soul of who I am and depend on
myself as I felt in a way I always had. As a kid I felt like the odd duck out sometimes and felt
trapped between my parents as I still do today, so moving to a place like Gunnison National
Forest seemed like the ultimate sense of freedom to me. I wasn't looking for a place where I felt
like I was free from all of the issues I had to deal with growing up and I could thrive as an
individual without having to worry about having the coolest new things that my elementary peers
had before it was uncool or eventually about having the latest Apple products or designer handbags.
A lesson this movie really pushes to heart on its viewers is the importance of reducing materialistic
values. During the time that this movie was produced America started becoming more urban and
building new cities. The start of the movie takes

1.What was your favorite TV show when growing up?
Growing up I LOVED One Tree Hill–I watched it beginning to end (9 seasons) over 10 or 11 times.
One Tree Hill is my die hard show.
2.What was your childhood nickname?
I'm one of the few people in the world who's never had a nickname. There isn't a shortened version
of the name Sierra.
That said, it's not very nice, but sometimes my family calls me "Boohoo Baby." I am the youngest of

The perfect day would entail waking up early and going to the zoo–followed by brunch with my

7.If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
I would be an empath; it's the power to control other people's emotions. I like that superpower better
than mind–control because you're not making people do things that they don't want to do.

Yes. My fiancГ© proposed to me by writing me a poem. In his journal he wrote a poem that was

Two months ago, Kasich became the last GOP candidate to drop out, making Trump the presumptive

that weren't true.

never been more satisfied professionally. We left the race abruptly. And the reason why we did is
that I became convinced, that in one way or another, to go forward I would have to tell people
things that I didn't think were true."
The party was thrown to celebrate and thank Ohioans for their work they did on his failed
presidential bid.
"I asked for this to be done so I could have an opportunity to thank you all for your work," Kasich

the idea of being healthy has been in people's mind and that circulates the thought that people want

Speech On Optimism
Jon Jusufi 8th grade
Sir Winston Churchill once said: " A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist
sees the opportunity in every difficulty."
If I think I cannot do something, after a while I will not be capable of doing it. And vice versa if I
truly believe that I can do something, I will try my best to do it. And this is not only about
actions we are capable of doing or not. Most importantly, it is about what we think we are. If you are
an optimist you love your life and think of yourself and the others around you as great people. If you
are a pessimist you do not really care about who you are and you do not give your life a meaning.
Optimism makes us have dreams. Those dreams eventually turn into goals and to accomplish those
goals we get perseverant, we care about the people around us and we try to live a healthy live.
Optimism leads to perseverance. If we really believe that what we think is right, optimism us

It is in human nature to work and live together with other people and to give a part of ourselves to
the others around us. Optimism is very important here because an optimist tries to make the
world a better place by making the people better people. Optimists help everyone in their
community as much as they can in every possible way. Sometimes people just need to hear some
good words and that is what optimists are great at. You have probably heard the story about the
one bad apple that turned all the good apples bad. Optimism is the exact opposite because one
optimist has the power to make all the people around him or her to see life from a positive point of
view. This is one of my favorite things about optimism because optimists do not only help
themselves, they help the world. And by helping the world they help themselves because the people
that you once helped will help you achieve your

Greatest Invention Essays
What is the greatest invention of all time?
Throughout time there have been lots of new inventions which have both hindered and helped
everyday life with humans. There are many different possible world's greatest inventions because
they have all helped out humankind in some way, some more than others.
I think that the greatest invention of all time is Harnessed Electricity. Some may argue that this was
not an invention it was a discovery but although electricity itself was a discovery there was still the
invention of had to use it and what it could be used for. I think that electricity is very important to
human life because it would be nearly impossible to do anything we do today. If we didn't have

I believe that the use of electricity in healthcare is more important than the use of penicillin because
of the x–rays, MRI scans, life support machines, cat scans, ultrasound, surgery lighting, heart rate
monitors, incubators and loads of other much needed specialist equipment. This equipment has
over the years helped to save millions of lives and although penicillin helps to treat the odd few
illnesses it doesn't help to run a well equipped hospital which saves even more lives with the billions
of people who visit a hospital every year.
Without electricity there would be no light and it would constantly be dark from around 4pm ever
day. This would restrict most people from doing things because as soon as it was dark they would
have to go to bed because there would be no lighting. Nobody could go out after dark as there
would be no street lights on the roads and houses would have to be lit by candle light which
wouldn't give of the strength of light that a light bulb does now. Yet again it would be exactly like
living in the dark ages.

Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay
Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present
moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget a memory because you didn't document it
through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A.
Attention Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets
right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly 90 minutes a day playing on their
phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed.
According to The Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've
become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop. We rely on our
phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a
world of ever changing technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone
wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get caught up in all the buzz of
things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming.
Without them we feel as though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads
are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our newsfeed. We're living a life
that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a

Julius Caesar Persuasive Speech

Julius Caesar. Fear these men, as they will stop at nothing on their conquest for power as to kill a
kind, merciful man such as Caesar. Watch out for these men, as they will slither silently, stalking
their prey and stab swiftly for a higher seat in Rome. For those new to our great republic, Caesar
was accused for trying to become a king and destroying the purpose of the republic, but that is far
from the opposite. When offered a crown by his companion, Marc Antony, Caesar refused not once,
not twice, but three times just to please us. These vile beasts, in return, stabbed him twenty–three
times, each of which were close friends and were given his trust, for he believed in the good of

always was highly difficult to find someone to connect with on a platonic level. I was extremely
socially anxious and had no idea of how to actually make friends. All of my healthiest and most
successful friendships were not made through my previous methods, but were all rather happy
accidents. However, luck combined with mutual characteristics are not the only aspects of
friendships with which one concerns his or herself. When making a friend, one is bound to lose a
part of themselves in that other person. This happens when a person makes any sort of devotion to
the other, whether miniscule of utmost importance. Whether or not this predicament is negative or
positive depends on the part they lose. A negative predicament may include the loss of good habits
and demeanors replaced by destructive or unhealthy behavior. A positive situation may include one
person being a sort of foil to the other's personality. For example, one friend may lack social skills,
but has confidence in his or herself while the other friend might be highly gregarious but has deep
sated insecurities. While in a good, healthy friendship, they start to lose the parts that may be lacking
and pick up those that better show the other facets of their personality. The friendship is not based on
mutual benefits, but

  • 1. Obama's Famous Persuasive Speech Here i am going to list every Thought that went through my mind while watching this Biased Video – Why are children ages 6–12 reacting to a politician when Adults React to politics would make a lot more sense. – at 0:43 Kacey exclaims "it hasn't been easy for me but i am filthy rich. the reason why he is rich is because he was able to build the empire that he has today because of smart business decisions on his part. –The Next Clip at 0:44, Donald is explaining about the previous 2 dumbfounded presidents. • 3. Name Calling Persuasive Speech Have you ever been bullied before? Have you ever been called a name? Well, at J.R. Gerrits school, this happens a lot. Lots of people call other people names. If you don't know what name calling is, it's where someone calls another person a mean name or a name besides their own. And this doesn't just happen a couple of times per year, it happens daily and it happens for a reason. Usually happens because the name caller is going through a tough time, meaning they are struggling in life, or they just want to do it to be cool or funny. Do you know what name calling is? Like I said before, name calling is where someone calls another person a mean name or a name besides their own. That happens a lot a J.R.G. Weather its 7th/8th graders or boys/girls, it happens at J.R.G. This also happens a lot at J.R.G. In fact, about 7 out of 10 people surveyed, 66%, are affected by name calling at J.R.G. But only about 35 people were surveyed. If that number is true for the whole school, that means that 480 students at J.R.G are affected by name calling. Now, that is a lot. Also, did you know that an estimated 54 million Americans have been name called at some point in their lives? That is a humongous number, in fact, it's about the same as the total populations of California and Florida. Just think about that. That would mean that every kid at J.R Gerritts middle school would get name called in their lifetime. This is unexplainably bad for our generation. Along with that, there are negative Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Ar 15 Persuasive Speech Lately everyone is seeing school shootings and robberies on the news and how most of these crimes are done with the the gun known as the ar–15 also known as an assault rifle.A lot of people jumped on board to ban these guns. But will that really fix our shooting problem? A strong majority of vote in 2017 voted for the banning of the ar 15 after the school shooting in florida killing multiply students.61 percent of the adults in Florida say that the ar 15 should be banned.39 percent of the adults say that background checks and looking into there history is necessary to buy in gun.The reasons for banning ar's are not to get the weapons away from normal and mentally stable people but to keep the guns of the streets and out of the reach of the kids that are capable and mentally unstable. • 5. Doubt Will Always Be There but Revenge is a Choice Revenge is considered to be the action of inflicting hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands. This definition just scratches the true meaning of the word revenge. There is a series of doubts that can lead to revenge. This idea can be seen in many pieces of texts including the following poems. "A Poison Tree" by William Blake and " A total stranger one black as night" by e.e. cummings both convey that when repressed anger builds in a person's, revenge becomes an option and self doubt has set into their thoughts. Throughout "A Poison Tree" William Blake conveys that repressed anger builds in people, and revenge becomes an option and doubt is a reality. Blake uses allusion in "A Poison Tree" that expresses that repressed anger builds in a person's. By using an allusion to one of the Bible's story about Adam and Eve. This quote shows an allusion to the bible helping the meaning of the poem. The speaker says "Till it bore an apple bright./ And my foe beheld it shine" (Blake 10–11). The allusion uses self doubt and revenge by alluding to the Bible through the story of Adam and Eve. The apple on the tree is poison just like the one in the Bible and both are signs of revenge and self doubt, perfectly alluding to the famous story. Blake uses the story of the bible to help people understand what is happening in the story because most likely people will understand the allusion. The next literary device William Burke uses is end rhyme in "A Poison Tree" to portray that he enjoys the ability to use revenge on his foe, almost like he's enjoying setting up the plan and getting rid of his self doubt. This quote shows how the end rhyme makes the poem seem enjoyable. The speak says "and into my garden stole, / When the night had veild the pole; /In the morning glad I see;/ My foe outstretched beneath the tree" (Blake 13–16). The end rhyme is used by showing that he chose the option of revenge is happy with his decision as well as the speaker knew how calculated he was going to do with his revenge. The end rhyme emphasizes how precise he was with the planning just like the end rhyme and how calculated he is. As well as Seamlessly adding that the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Famous Persuasive Speeches I awoke tired and grouchy. The night before had left me exhausted but also inspired. The polls don't lie; the people want the truth and the truth is what I provided. When people see the name Donald Trump, I want them to think of the man who made America great again. America is not like when I grew up in the 50's. We were once a proud bunch who had the right to be proud, but now we are just another country. As Dad used to say, "Donald, now that we are both men, America has changed. I have faith that one day you will help restore America to its once great glory." I never quite knew what Dad meant, that is until recently when the nation needed a leader. I instantly knew what he meant. I was to replace Obama as president of the United States of America. On June 16th, 2015, I announced...show more content... Bernie just sat there quietly grinning and mumbling, "Fool!" Bernie and the bunch proceeded to torture me and insisted I drop out and quit this silly act. I was almost broken by the hours of their idiotic rambling of power and money. That is after all the only true reason they are running. At last I saw it–the light at the end of the tunnel. I managed to slip one wrist out of the ropes waiting to proceed with my next move. Then I heard the real plans. They wanted to nuke Canada and Russia, starting a third world war. They had the codes on my desk in front of them. They were about to press the giant red button that would forever be the click heard round the world if I did not act quickly. I shouted, "Wait. please don't! You know you will be caught." Laughter...laughter was all I heard. "You really think we are that stupid?" Bernie said. "We have been planning this for months. You will be blamed for destroying America once we initiate the launch and leave you here Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Ted Talk Persuasive Speech In Melissa Fleming's TED talk Let's Help Refugees Thrive, Not Just Survive, she discusses the idea of helping immigrant refugees live a successful life in their new world, rather than just giving them the tools to simply survive. Her main reasoning behind this was wanting to share people's story in order to help make a difference. Fleming's first described events in which she used quotes to help her audience feel emotions toward the subject of immigrants going to other countries in order to reach safety. To get her audience to agree with her point of helping immigrants succeed, Fleming's used the example of the young boy who had his life in danger and the only thing he saved was his high school diploma because of the amount of danger he had Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Conspiracy Theories The Internet has played a large role in my interest in conspiracy theories. Although I definitely do not believe all of them, they are fun to look into and are good tools for procrastination. Falling deeper into the hole that is Wikipedia, I spent a large amount of my free time "researching" them. It got to the point where I had to force myself to actually work on homework instead. However, I am not one of those crazy conspiracy theorists; I am only interested in ones that seem legit. All interesting conspiracy theories have similar qualities. A majority of them involve the government or celebrities. And depending on the theory, they are believable. My personal favorites all happen to involve the government, some classics included. It is said that 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by Bush to purposely start a war with Afghanistan. Some survivors recall that they heard separate explosions at the time of the attacks, which has led people to believe that there were pre–planted explosives inside the Twin Towers. It is a well known fact that the towers collapsed at one point, but this is seen as suspicious to many conspiracy theorists. A common known phrase among believers is "jet fuel can't melt steel beams." Another widely believed theory is that the Royal Family killed Princess Diana. There are a few versions, one of which is that they killed her to prevent her from exposing the Family for being awful and corrupt. The other is where she was killed for loving a man of color, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Martin Luther King And Thoreau Similarities Each person is entitled to their own opinion; we all have different ideas on the same or different things, but that does not always mean that their opinion is wrong. Each Thoreau and Martin Luther King Jr. had an opinion, and they each made sure that they would share it with the world. They both wrote famous persuasive essays that changed how we viewed the government. They both used literary elements and as well pathos, or emotional appeal to carry out their ideas. Both of them expressed their own idea, their preferences and what they thought was right and expressed what they thought was wrong. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and David Thoreau are completely two different people from completely different eras of time, but they share things in common....show more content... King. Thoreau was actually arrested before he wrote his famous essay "Civil Disobedience" because he did not want to pay poll taxes and from this incident he decided to write his essay. Thoreau believed that the government should introod in other people's lives but instead should be there for people to use for their will but it is okay to misuse it. Thoreau think it's okay to break the law and that it shouldn't take over someone's life. He differs in this way from Dr. King because King wanted to change the law and make it right for the lives of African American's. "If the injustice is part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go: perchance it will wear smooth––certainly the machine will wear out... but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter–friction to stop the machine. What I have to do is to see, at any rate, that I do not lend myself to the wrong which I condemn." (Thoreau Page 8) In this quote Thoreau explains his view of the government and how it should not control people. This is one thing he and dr. King have in common because neither of them wanted to have the law tell them how to live their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Persuasive Poems Kayla Trahan Mrs. Kristy Hebert English IV – 1st 26 January 2017 Persuasive Poems Some may dispute that the Cavalier poems "To His Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell was more persuasive than the poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Robert Herrick. The authors were writing to sometimes different women that they wanted to woo over in order so they can sleep with them. I believe that the poem "To the Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell was more persuasive than the poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Robert Herrick. The Cavalier poem I found to be more persuasive was "To His Coy Mistress" by Andrew Marvell. Marvell wrote, "Had we but world enough, and time,/ This coyness lady, were no crime./We would sit down, and think which...show more content... Herrick states, "Then be not coy, but use your time,/ And, while ye may, go marry;/ For, having lost but once your prime,"(Herrick, ln. 13,14). Herrick basically told the women to stop being shy and to not waste their youth. He told the women that he talked about to not waste away and enjoy your youth while you have it. But, still, Herrick was overall more demanding than Marvell's. Even though both of the Cavalier poems were about having sex, Marvell's poem was more of a romance poem than Herrick's poem. Marvell wrote, "Thy beauty shall no more be found, / Nor , in thy marble vault, shall sound/ My echoing says" (Marvell, ln. 25–27). Marvell was saying that beauty will no longer be there one day. Herrick said, "For having lost but once your prime, / You may forever tarry" (Herrick, ln. 15–16). Herrick was saying that your youth will not always be there so best use it to their advantage. The Cavalier poem "To His Coy Mistress" by Marvell was more persuading than the poem "To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time" by Herrick. Although they were both mainly focused on the topic of sex Marvell was more of a romantic/persuasive than Herrick Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Persuasive Essay : Existence Of God Persuasive Essay: Existence of God The debate on the existence of a god has been a popular topic among philosophers. Thomas Aquinas, a famous Italian philosopher, provided a set of arguments that he believed proved the existence of a god, who brought the world into existence. These arguments provide a sound reasoning behind the existence of god upon the basis that there are a series of events and these events are somehow caused into being. Aquinas explains this uncaused first cause to be god. The first proof he makes in order to prove the existence of God, is in regard to the motion of the world. Aquinas observes that everything in the world changes and that, "everything that changes is made to change by something else," (Perry pg. 44). This statement is often refuted by the view that there may be an infinite chain of change that has been going on forever. In refutation to this, it can be said that we would not be able to account for the change /motion that we see in the world if there was an infinite amount of causation. If you trace back the causes of motion to their causes of motion and so on, you can relate it to looking at a line segment labeled from A to B. If you did this with the causes of objects you would find an infinite amount of causes and you would never get to A but you know A exists because there is a line segment. If there was not a first cause or starting point then we would not be able to account for the motion that we see around us. Some may make the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Essay About My Favorite Movie For as long as I can remember the Adventures of the Wilderness Family has been my favorite movie. I was fascinated by how close to nature Pat, Skip, Jenny, and Toby were and particularly how close to wildlife they were. Every time I watched that movie I was just in awe of how beautiful it was and how they could sustain themselves and persevere through anything including multiple animal attacks. When I was a kid I always imagined running free in a field filled with flowers and being so close to nature and feeling free to explore my own little world. I have watched this movie countless times and have purposely never examined any faults the movie might have because I enjoyed it exactly the way it was. I never looked at it and actually saw...show more content... Whenever a character got attacked they seemed to take it really lightly, when realistically that is life–threatening. Childhood me really appreciated this movie for the kind of life I hoped to live when I got older. As a kid I would spend a lot of time by the pond outside my dad's house and exploring the woods and backyard with my brothers and my Dad and watching this movie made me look toward the possibility of one day living a life that ultimately felt free from my parents' issues and social conflicts and allowed me to find the heart and soul of who I am and depend on myself as I felt in a way I always had. As a kid I felt like the odd duck out sometimes and felt trapped between my parents as I still do today, so moving to a place like Gunnison National Forest seemed like the ultimate sense of freedom to me. I wasn't looking for a place where I felt like I was free from all of the issues I had to deal with growing up and I could thrive as an individual without having to worry about having the coolest new things that my elementary peers had before it was uncool or eventually about having the latest Apple products or designer handbags. A lesson this movie really pushes to heart on its viewers is the importance of reducing materialistic values. During the time that this movie was produced America started becoming more urban and building new cities. The start of the movie takes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Famous Informative Speech 1.What was your favorite TV show when growing up? Growing up I LOVED One Tree Hill–I watched it beginning to end (9 seasons) over 10 or 11 times. One Tree Hill is my die hard show. 2.What was your childhood nickname? I'm one of the few people in the world who's never had a nickname. There isn't a shortened version of the name Sierra. That said, it's not very nice, but sometimes my family calls me "Boohoo Baby." I am the youngest of 5, with 4 older brothers, and when I was around 3 or 4 my family and I went on a snow trip. We went sledding and I apparently didn't like the cold, so I cried the entire time–ruining the trip for my brothers. So "Boohoo Baby" became my nickname. I've re–gifted a lot of my clothes to my fiancГ©'s little sister. 6.What would a "perfect" day look like for you? The perfect day would entail waking up early and going to the zoo–followed by brunch with my fiancГ©, and spending time with my mom and family. 7.If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose? I would be an empath; it's the power to control other people's emotions. I like that superpower better than mind–control because you're not making people do things that they don't want to do. 8.Have you ever had a poem or song written about you? Yes. My fiancГ© proposed to me by writing me a poem. In his journal he wrote a poem that was also a scavenger hunt with riddles. At the end of the scavenger hunt, the riddles lead me to him, where he was waiting with a ring. It was a great proposal! 9.What is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet? I am a shoe hoarder! Famous Persuasive Speech Cleveland, OH. –– Cleveland is in the spotlight this week and its own governor decided to skip out on the biggest event of them all –– the Republican National Convention Ohio Governor John Kasich is miles away from the convention venue held at the Quicken Loans Arena, holding multiple events with state delegations at hotels, headlining a state party reception, and speaking at the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at the same time delegates conducted their states roll call vote to make Donald Trump's nomination official. In his mid–afternoon event, Kasich held a reception where over 1,500 Ohioans gathered at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I've never been more satisfied professionally. We left the race abruptly. And the reason why we did is that I became convinced, that in one way or another, to go forward I would have to tell people things that I didn't think were true." The party was thrown to celebrate and thank Ohioans for their work they did on his failed presidential bid. "I asked for this to be done so I could have an opportunity to thank you all for your work," Kasich told the crowd. "I can't thank you enough for everything you've done." When having the right tools to initiate something, we may all feel excited to start it. Which means, if we have products that are for exercising we will be willing to exercising even harder because we for the reason that will be motivated to do so. Besides all that, consumers nowadays want to fit in society by being in shape; the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Speech On Optimism Jon Jusufi 8th grade Sir Winston Churchill once said: " A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." If I think I cannot do something, after a while I will not be capable of doing it. And vice versa if I truly believe that I can do something, I will try my best to do it. And this is not only about actions we are capable of doing or not. Most importantly, it is about what we think we are. If you are an optimist you love your life and think of yourself and the others around you as great people. If you are a pessimist you do not really care about who you are and you do not give your life a meaning. Optimism makes us have dreams. Those dreams eventually turn into goals and to accomplish those goals we get perseverant, we care about the people around us and we try to live a healthy live. Optimism leads to perseverance. If we really believe that what we think is right, optimism us protect it with all we have because we are what we...show more content... It is in human nature to work and live together with other people and to give a part of ourselves to the others around us. Optimism is very important here because an optimist tries to make the world a better place by making the people better people. Optimists help everyone in their community as much as they can in every possible way. Sometimes people just need to hear some good words and that is what optimists are great at. You have probably heard the story about the one bad apple that turned all the good apples bad. Optimism is the exact opposite because one optimist has the power to make all the people around him or her to see life from a positive point of view. This is one of my favorite things about optimism because optimists do not only help themselves, they help the world. And by helping the world they help themselves because the people that you once helped will help you achieve your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Greatest Invention Essays What is the greatest invention of all time? Throughout time there have been lots of new inventions which have both hindered and helped everyday life with humans. There are many different possible world's greatest inventions because they have all helped out humankind in some way, some more than others. I think that the greatest invention of all time is Harnessed Electricity. Some may argue that this was not an invention it was a discovery but although electricity itself was a discovery there was still the invention of had to use it and what it could be used for. I think that electricity is very important to human life because it would be nearly impossible to do anything we do today. If we didn't have electricity a lot of things would...show more content... I believe that the use of electricity in healthcare is more important than the use of penicillin because of the x–rays, MRI scans, life support machines, cat scans, ultrasound, surgery lighting, heart rate monitors, incubators and loads of other much needed specialist equipment. This equipment has over the years helped to save millions of lives and although penicillin helps to treat the odd few illnesses it doesn't help to run a well equipped hospital which saves even more lives with the billions of people who visit a hospital every year. Without electricity there would be no light and it would constantly be dark from around 4pm ever day. This would restrict most people from doing things because as soon as it was dark they would have to go to bed because there would be no lighting. Nobody could go out after dark as there would be no street lights on the roads and houses would have to be lit by candle light which wouldn't give of the strength of light that a light bulb does now. Yet again it would be exactly like living in the dark ages. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget a memory because you didn't document it through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly 90 minutes a day playing on their phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed. According to The Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop. We rely on our phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a world of ever changing technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get caught up in all the buzz of things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming. Without them we feel as though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our newsfeed. We're living a life that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a student at this university I've realized every person on the quad has their heads Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Julius Caesar Persuasive Speech This past week Brutus, Cassius, Casca and several other men murdered Rome's dearest friend, Julius Caesar. Fear these men, as they will stop at nothing on their conquest for power as to kill a kind, merciful man such as Caesar. Watch out for these men, as they will slither silently, stalking their prey and stab swiftly for a higher seat in Rome. For those new to our great republic, Caesar was accused for trying to become a king and destroying the purpose of the republic, but that is far from the opposite. When offered a crown by his companion, Marc Antony, Caesar refused not once, not twice, but three times just to please us. These vile beasts, in return, stabbed him twenty–three times, each of which were close friends and were given his trust, for he believed in the good of people. Then there is Caesar's will, in which he donated so much to us from the bottom of his heart. Some Romans may say that Caesar deserved what he got but for me and my fellow true Romans we know other wise. We must come together and give these murders the...show more content... During this celebration the humble Caesar was offered a crown by Antony multiple times, and every time he refused. When Brutus asked what happened following the event, Casca stated, "Then he / offered it to him again, then he put it by again...he was very loath to lay his / fingers off it. And then he offered it the third time. / He put it the third time by... it had almost choked Caesar," (1.2.240–249) Every time, he looked at Antony's offer of power over us, the people of Rome, and every time he refused, disgusted at the mere thought. He refused for us so that we could continue with the power lying with the people. He refused for the senators so that they could continue to have a say. He refused it for himself as he knew so much power would go to his head and he would become vile like the men who murdered Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 21. Persuasive Essay About Friendship When I was in pre–school, I formed a conspiracy in order to become the friend of this one girl in my class. From that point on, friendship had always been this equation–esque problem to solve. It always was highly difficult to find someone to connect with on a platonic level. I was extremely socially anxious and had no idea of how to actually make friends. All of my healthiest and most successful friendships were not made through my previous methods, but were all rather happy accidents. However, luck combined with mutual characteristics are not the only aspects of friendships with which one concerns his or herself. When making a friend, one is bound to lose a part of themselves in that other person. This happens when a person makes any sort of devotion to the other, whether miniscule of utmost importance. Whether or not this predicament is negative or positive depends on the part they lose. A negative predicament may include the loss of good habits and demeanors replaced by destructive or unhealthy behavior. A positive situation may include one person being a sort of foil to the other's personality. For example, one friend may lack social skills, but has confidence in his or herself while the other friend might be highly gregarious but has deep sated insecurities. While in a good, healthy friendship, they start to lose the parts that may be lacking and pick up those that better show the other facets of their personality. The friendship is not based on mutual benefits, but Get more content on HelpWriting.net
