Complex electronics require certain skill levels to be able to configure, operate and maintain and when these devices are deployed into a network the Telco expects a very high reliability and low rate of return. The costs and difficulty associated with returning items for factory repair often exceed the current market value and sometimes even the original cost so these “faulty” items are sometimes discarded and replaced. Now it’s a fact that a very significant percentage of all items returned as faulty from the field are actually working fine and the “faulty” tag was attached simply because the technician did not know how to solve the issue on-site or did not have the time. This item may make its way back to the OEM factory, be tested and found working fine. This typically occurs in between 40% and 60% of items returned. Stopping these items being returned, or thrown away, in the country of use brings significant advantages: Reduces cost by eliminating air-shipment to and from the factory Improves repair time by eliminating long distance logistics Eliminates the customs and taxation / duty reconciliation process Reduces in-country replacement stock levels Increases customer satisfaction Increases supplier satisfaction This is the role that GSM Systems are now performing for many of the largest Telcos globally. GSM Systems have established technical capability, screening and repair labs, processing and logistics centers in a number of countries around the globe specializing in saving it’s customers’ money and improving their customer’s satisfaction. Telcos that use GSM Systems’ services are able to reduce by up to 60% the number of items being sent back to the OEMfor repair and this process is managed using GSM Systems’ proprietary portal and mobile app.

GSM Systems’ customers enjoy full visibility throughout the process from the moment the Trouble Ticket is opened through to closure with exact status and actions performed. This visibility is provided via a Customer Portal which may be accessible by the Telco and KPIs are automatically published via a dashboard. The initial triage captures non-faulty items and passes only non-working through to the repair lab. GSM Systems technician are skilled in diagnosis and component level repair, qualified and certified on all the products they handle and can resolve even the stubbornest issues. Only those items requiring highly specialized processes or under warranty, are passed through to the OEM’s and even the logistics for this are managed by GSM Systems so visibility and traceability are maintained regardless. Furthermore, most GSM Systems’ customers take advantage of additional services such as end-to-end logistics management, warehousing and refurbishment for a complete hands-off in-country capability which is transparent to the customer. In summary GSM Systems can improve the Telco’s performance in all areas spare parts management, ensuring maximum network up-time and optimal operating costs!
