2. Photoshop
I have used Photoshop for my front cover, My skills have
developed as I have progressed from the prelim. I have used
tools such the ellipse tool to create the puff, this tool helps
create oval and circle type shapes.
I have added effects such as ‘Inner Glow’ , bevel and
emboss, satin and stoke to make my puff Stan
I have also used blending options and added stroke to my
masthead, this tool enables a black outline around text. I
like this tool because it makes the text look bold and eye
catching, the main reason for using the Stroke is that my
masthead is in white and blends in with my cover stars
hand. I have used a size 13 stroke as I feel that using a
bigger size stoke than this it makes the text look slightly
cartoony.
I have used the polygonal lasso tool. This tool allows me to
draw around my cover stars head with little dots, I have uses
this tool because the masthead was covering him . After I have
drawn around the perimeter and joined the dots, I then copied
the area selected, pasted the cover stars head and moved it
into a layer that was above the masthead.
I have also used the rectangle tool to created the skyline and
the banner on my magazine front cover. When using the
ellipse tool and the rectangle tool I have used colour fill to
follow the colour code of my magazine.
3. QuarkI have used quark to create my Contents page and double
page spread for my magazine.
I have used the rectangle tool to
create the lines that go horizontally
down the right hand side of the page. I
have created these to make the page
more interesting and less bland.
When creating the horizontal
lines, I have chosen to fill them
with a colour. I have done this to
follow my house style of red, black
and white.
For my Contents page and double
page spread, I have used the picture
contents tool. I have used this so it
image can be cropped automatically
into the certain position/ size I want it
in.
I have created text box’s
throughout the creation of my
contents page, mainly creating
the articles and the article
numbers, however I also used
them for captions on the
pictures and the title ‘contents’
